I love Pikmin Bloom so much. I found it looking for a free pedometer and have got all the ladies at my work using it. We love the cute pikmin and planting flowers. Our work and surrounding area is constantly covered in flowers.

You’re lucky to have that. I’m the only one in my community who plays it (as far as I know) but I make it my duty to plant flowers in my area. Plus there is a huge flower at the park a few feet from my house.

I love this game so much, been playing it everyday since I got it and I’ve been walking way more than I used to. I find the game really cute, calming and motivational. I hope it doesn’t die 😢

Pikmin Bloom, funnily enough, is the first pikmin game I ever played, and it is a game that is and has been close to my heart for a while. Idk, maybe I'm just a plant mother, but I love those cute little guys and I want them in my day to day life, anyways amazing video! Its always sad to see your view to like ratio on videos like this though, I wish more people would like it ;p

Reporting after almost a year of the video, the game is still active, and we still got new events coming and better quality of life improvements. Also, it isn't true that popping the flowers is a resource that anyone can steal, or not now. I had played with other people around my area and everyone can take that nectar unless you yourself already took it. Also there is now this tickets you can buy to raid when the max is already maxed (lol) and to go past the limit when you already done your 3 daily mushrooms. The weekly challenges right now are pretty easy if you tend to go walk a lot, I carried a team of randoms and we ended it up in 3 days, I made around 20,000 steps and the rest didn't even go over 6,000. About mushrooms, they had added also elemental mushrooms, Electricity, Fire, Water, and recently (last week as I am writing this) Posion, so this Mushrooms, that are even more difficult than large mushrooms, can only be attacked with a certain type. You can now buy any storage upgrade with coins too.

With the recent switch to being able to get upgrades with coins (coming mid September or so), I believe the game is headed in the right direction and they will keep adding more. It's not even a year old, let's give it some slack. Remember how Pokémon GO had NOTHING when it first started? Just some gen 1 pokémon, no raids, no battles, no friends, no trading, no gifts, no team rocket, no battle league, no gyms, etc.. All those were implemented over time, and that's exactly how Pikmin Bloom is progressing, starting with decors, QoL updates, mushroom challenges, now weekly challenges, etc.. Planting flowers, while being the main loop (like catching pokémon in GO), is not going to be the only thing you'll do, and I suspect they have something in the works that'll make you spend your money eventually (or grind your feet into dust). Of course Bloom won't ever have the same success as GO, but could it ever? Duh, nope. I'm glad it's this simple, relaxing game for now and I can't wait to see where it goes. I'm glad it's different, and I play both every day religiously.

Since this video they have fixed: The detector spawns the decor that the detector shows, not roadsides unless it shows roadside. Mushrooms now last long enough for people you don't know to join in on the challenge with you. The best way it makes money is the updating cosmetic items for dressing up your mii. You can buy upgrades with your flower planting coins.

as a pikmin fan it's not just ar games this is gonna affect, it's the pikmin franchise itself too. the franchise is a testing point to see if it's something nintendo will profit off of. when pikmin bloom dies, after two complete flops in a row nintendo's not gonna want to make any more pikmin stuff if it won't make any money, and the franchise will most likely be stopped entirely. the only way this can really be prevented is if something pikmin related comes out before pikmin bloom dies that's successful.

I see this game doing really good in Japan like I see they pay lots on holding more flowers & more, so I think it will be more alive than the Harry Potter walking phone game. + To tell you the truth, I really like bloom more then Pokemon go, like it’s annoying stop walking every time I want to get a new Pokemon & even more annoying they run away sometimes

After the release of Pikmin 4 it kinda gave it a new life for me, with event costume pikmin and hopefully two new pikmin types on the horizon so even if it’s got a new kick I know it’s inevitably gonna end, but for now I like gaining an army and killing inanimate digital mushrooms faster and faster :)

Honestly Pikmin Bloom is just a... Silly game to track your step count, and look at cute little creatures doing cute little things. And i love it, it's perfect for me. I walk a lot every day.

Dude....thanks for the fair review. I like the game a lot too and play strictly no-purchase, and yeah...there are limitations. But also, I love it that you used the hospital music from NES Earthbound for your outro. If anybody ever comes up with an AR walk-around game like Pokemon GO or Pikmin Bloom built around Earthbound-style storytelling and questing, I'm SO going to jump on boatrd.

I love how much more relaxed and laid back it is compared to the much more successful Pokémon GO. (pro tip: the flowers can be pulled down to get 1 or 2 balls of nectar)

There IS special nectar from mushroom raids, it's obtained by getting 4 stars on normal and large mushrooms, which requires 2 and 3 people minimum respectively.

Thanks for the objective overview. I enjoyed this full disclosure review. It is spot on for the joys and reservations and hopes of Pikmin Bloom. I personally enjoy the game, but a large part of that comes from the fact that my family of 5 all play together. We have the perfect number of players to participate in all aspects as a group. We make sure we attack our 3 mushrooms every day. We search for normal or large because we are able to get 4 ⭐️ stars and earn special nectar. We are able to bloom large flowers on a single pass through as a group! One of the kids plays Pikmin on the Wii and Switch, he introduced the rest of us to the Pikmin franchise. We have been playing since launch weekend last October. It has been a great family activity since release, I hope it sticks around. I do agree it would be nice to have more things to do in game. Enemy battles and other things to hunt for would be great additions. Thanks again for this clear expose.

Can’t remember exactly how far I got but I think I unlocked all the Pikmin and maybe got to lvl 25 in Pikmin using a phone swing for so many steps and I got bored it just wasn’t fun playing the game, not to mention the battery it drained.

Yeah i know some people that went a similar route and burnt out pretty quick (and steps only really get you part of the way there with leveling up ). And oh yeah didnt even mention battery life and how laggy this game can get! Definitely falls in the catagory of "things to worried about as AR games get fancier graphics and more processor intensive".

I just discovered pikmin bloom lol End of Dec 2023 and now it’s Jan 2024 for timeline I looked up other videos to see what I could do in pikmin and how to determine which pikmin to send etc and glad I found your channel. You gave a great overall experience of the game which is what I was looking for. I have my setting turned on so others can see me, figure might help in killing mushrooms or meeting someone for the walks. I’m adult so the kidnapper might be disappointed but you can always turn it off before you go to your home to be safe I do wish I could kill something other than a mushroom and find things other than fruit but still a relaxing game.

I see the game as a way to motivate me to go outside and take walks, since I kind of need a goal besides walking and this app is perfect for that, esp since I can upload pics of the day to show myself that I've actually done something that day. I'm agoraphobic who hates going outside because people, so PoGo is not an option for me unfortunately. And now I've gotten my mom into it so she can challenge me to go outside. It's just perfect for me and I don't need it to grow bigger, except maybe the big flower thing having 23 hours cd, I accidentally made everyone on my route bloom today, where am I supposed to go tomorrow? XD Also they've changed the whole not being able to buy upgrades with coins, I guess they got a lot of critique over that and changed it.

I honestly don’t think pikmin bloom will die before Pokémon go. Especially since pikmin 4 is around the corner they will probably add ice pikmin and glow pikmin to the game. And maybe onions and enemies so I can safely say that pikmin bloom will last just as long as Pokémon go.

It would be so cool if you could actually battle enemies (or maybe interact with other players through mini dandori battles) later on, probably the only thing missing in the game is player interaction outside of fighting for flower petals lol

I totally get that. I started playing strictly to gamify walking. In that regard I do find I'm more motivated to get out and walk every day. For me, the game's biggest failure is the invitation system for weekly challenges. A player almost has to contact all other friends who play outside of the game and agree upon a time to form a challenge group together, else as soon as you start a challenge, some rando jumps in your group, invites 3 other friends who might or might-not join, but you have zero control over who gets in and there is NO WAY to revoke an invitation if the friend you invited does not respond. You're just left with a group full of pending invitations and you'll have to complete the challenge by yourself. Something as simple as giving a player the option to make a group by-invitation-only, give a player the option to cancel an invitation OR make the invitation cancel itself if no response comes within 24 hours...AND let players opt to be made un-invitable if they feel they won't have the time or energy to be part of a challenge that week.

Pikmin Bloom will highly to shut down in future and can be near future. Niantic only had two surviving game Pokemon Go and igress. Only Pokemon Go is super successful game that why Niantic depends only Pokemon go game become huge income for them by creating numerous in game event and digging money from players to buy those tickets catch shiny Pokemon and mythical Pokemon.

Very good video! I play this game every day since its release and I agree with you on pretty much every point. However, during the last months, the game definitely moved towards better directions: we can now buy Pikmin storage with the in-game currency, and not with real money. I also don't find THAT difficult to complete the Pikmindex, I have almost completed it (reached over 230 different decors a few days ago), and I spent only about 10€ on the game. You're right, Pikmin Bloom will probably die before Pokémon GO, but I hope it won't happen anytime soon. I really love this game and it stimulates me to walk 10,000 steps a day, it helped me a lot to lose a bit of extra weight.

Pikmin Bloom has NO incentive to play, no satisfying gameplay loops, no permanent collectibles(all the big flowers and your pikmins head leaf reset), absolutely horrible free-to-play coin gathering system, the only thing you permanently collect are the pikmin themselves and the fact that there are only 7 types spread throughout literally hundreds of hours of gameplay means it doesn't feel good to collect at all. Unless you're an old lady literally using this as a cute step-counter exercise app I couldn't imagine this game holding onto players for longer than like 2 days max. This is so frustrating, Niantic would be a better slots/gambling company rather than a 'game' company because it's clear not a single person making decisions at that company knows anything about making a game actually fun or fulfilling to play, it's all about sucking money out of 'whale' players, it's really disheartening for anyone who cares about the pikmin franchise or even jusy mobile game fans. Ack. 😠

It’s really not pay to win since the game is all about going to places, so you can do everything without spending a single coin easily, and coins just make it easier. before righting such a long angry comment, do more research, and don’t assume your opinions are the same as everybody else’s
