What I don’t understand about this country is that…why do the government punish those people who worked all their lives when they needed the health services the most and provide everything for free to those many people that never worked a day? People who are on public assistance all their lives get 100% coverage from birth until death! This is not right ! People who worked should never have to purchase their own supplement. My dad worked until 67 before retired so he can get $200 extra on his social security retirement check. Obama Care Act slapped him on the face “you are a few dollars over so you don’t get government supplement you have to go buy your own Supplement.” He can’t afford plan N or G because his income is less than what he earned while he worked to a small set income!

You explained Medicare supplement and Plan G very well including the potential for relatively large yearly rate increases. I think you explained this in another video but if one decides to change plans, even with the same insurer, one still must go through medical underwriting. So choose wisely initially. Another point that you might emphasize is that Medicare supplements do not cover what Medicare does not cover or what Medicare DENIES FOR LACK OF MEDICAL NECESSITY. This is an important point because if Medicare denies on medical necessity grounds the service or procedure provider can bill you not at the Medicare rate but at their full rate. For example, where Medicare might pay $5.00 for a lab test, the lab will bill you $200.00 which is the full list price for the test. This is based on your knowing or should know that the service or procedure is not covered. Be careful not to sign any waiver forms!

While this is certainly possible, I haven't seen it yet with original Medicare (and G). Normally, if your doctor says it's medically necessary, Medicare pays it. This is opposed to Advantage Plans, where everything must be preapproved.

Yeah, lots of people think that Congress and Senators have some really great health plan, and it is a good plan, but it is Obamacare which they cost share on. When Democrats were pushing Obamacare through, Republicans thought they would be clever and suggest that if it was "so good" all members of Congress should have to be on it. They figured Democrats would say no and they could use that against them. To their surprise (and maybe shock) they jumped on the idea! So Congress being on Obamacare is perhaps the only contribution to Obamacare from Republicans.

@@cherylmcnutt9905 Me three!! I retired last year at 69, and like "Barbara Ebner" above said, I can't believe how stressful navigating health care/insurance issues has been! How I miss my employer's group benefits involving only 2 decisions! What cruel irony that just when memory and other mild cognitive deficiencies start to show up, and my income is suddenly half what it used to be, I'm tasked with learning at least 6 different insurance Plan parts (A, B, D, Advantage, G, and now N); plus trying to calculate costs of all the options and combinations, and timings, and prescription prices at different pharmacies, and realizing the same health care will cost me three times what it did when I was employed. With all the technology we have, why isn't there a computer program for entering your data and it having it calculate what all your best, and least expensive choices are during each open enrollment period?? There is some sort of program the local brokers use, but it still leaves me with too many options and not enough info. For example, I found out Medicare does not approve of one of my prescriptions; consequently, what my employer's insurance cost me $20 for a 90 day supply, will now cost me $600 for the same thing. This is the best Rx Plan D the program could find. Then a friend suggested asking at my pharmacy how much the prescription would be if I said I had no insurance. When I asked, the price for 90 days was suddenly only $249. The pharmacy also said since I wasn't restricted by any insurance company rules, I could buy the entire year's-worth the doctor had written for, all at one time, and the per tablet price would be even less. (Unfortunately I could only afford a half year's supply at one time.) Later on, it occurred to me to ask at a different pharmacy, and their price was only $183 for the 90 day supply, so then I was kicking myself for cognitive impairment issues! I also got a "Good Rx" discount coupon, but the best price was just using no insurance whatsoever, and asking at different pharmacies. I wish you good luck and stamina for navigating the system, and thank you for your comment!

@@varonadee6980 Thanks, I wish the same for you! One thing I can tell you I learned the hard was all of the “Advantage Plans” rarely cover much of higher tiered drugs. I can go to the pharmacy and show my Medicare prescription Plan D card, and get to pay $600 out of pocket for a 90-day supply. The only thing Medicare covers is for the remaining three 90-day supplies in a year, I will only be charged $400 each. My Plan G pays nothing because it does not cover prescription meds. That's why I go to the pharmacy and get the tablets with no insurance, without ever mentioning Medicare. With NO insurance, I can pay $732 a year, but with Medicare I would pay $1800 a year. On the plus side, Medicare only charges me $3.00 for a 90 day supply of Metformin!

I have a friend who's 81 year old mother had a basil cell cancer spot removed from her forehead, and it left a rather unpleasant scare. She wanted to go to a plastic surgeon to have reconstructive procedures on the sight of the surgrey, but Medicare said the reconstructive surgery was not medically necessary and wouldn't pay for the surgery. Is this a common for Medicare to turn down coverage for reconstructive surgery?

Thank you for the great info. Question: what has been the average annual increase during the past 10 years for Plan G and Plan N? I will be turning 65 next year and i am currently fairly healthy so i am leaning towards Plan N, but if the annual increase between Plan G & N are not significant, i probably will go with Plan G just to have that peace of mind since health tends to deteriorate as we get older.

For some crazy reason I have been told that plan N is more expensive than plan G In my state even though plan G pays for more. I’ve seen videos where they’re saying that the cost for plan G will be going up more rapidly because it has more people and many of those people are more sick. If that’s the case why in the world is plan N more expensive in Kentucky? It seems if you’re willing to shoulder more of the cost the rate should be lower

He also teaches Martial Arts hence the name. I say all this because I told him when he reached a million followers to remember he could not have got there without having the first one. I think it is awesome the way you explain everything. You definitely have a new follower and I will be watching your videos. You nailed it when you said "Peace of Mind". I am not sure if you are licensed in my state of Louisiana. I noticed your chart did not show Dental and Vision. I am curious what the price tag would be to have the G plan with Dental, Vision and what ever else makes it a complete package plan. Also you should have a lot more subscribers than you do, so stay who you are and you will continue to grow. Great Video!

Plan G “High Deductible” is worth researching too. Run the numbers to determine estimated doctor visits, etc. per year. Plan G HD premiums are around $40 per month with around $2500 deductible (includes $203 Medicare deductible). Either you pay out more in premiums or deductible. For me high deductible makes sense since I’m healthy and rarely see a doctor more than twice a year. Why pay out more in premiums if you’re relatively healthy?

This depends on many factors. Without a Medigap plan, you are responsible for the full 20% that Medicare doesn't pay, with no cap or out of pocket limit. Who was 'they' that put you on a Plan N? I know the pre-existing thing can be a difficult road but normally if you stick to the Medicare timeline and had coverage before you signed up, the pre-existing clause is waived. Speaking as someone who was receiving medical care for a kidney transplant for 15 years prior to signing up for Medicare. No questions asked, sign here and pay the premium. I got a Plan F back then and have stuck with it. I make be wrong but it sounds like you were misled.

I have Plan F very similar to Plan G for 6 yrs. & all my medical bills except for prescriptions, which is under a different plan have been paid. This past year upon severely fracturing 3 bones in my ankle & spraining the other I was taken by ambulance to the hospital where ankle bones were set, then transferred by another ambulance to a larger hospital for eventual surgery. in the hospital for a few days, then in a nursing facility for approx.21 days, have had 2 surgeries & multiple surgeon & doctor visits & Visiting nurse, physical therapist & occupational therapist come to my home many times followed up with PT in A facility & have not had to pay any bills, thank God! Plan F similar to G is fantastic & well worth it to me to budget the lower premium amount each month than get hit with high unexpected expenses at some point. Plus, I can travel & not worry if I should need medical care outside my area & am not bothered with keeping track of paying doctors, etc. etc. It is super important to enroll in such a plan when about to turn age 65! The premium cost was double prior & after the allowed time! So important to take advantage of the period where no medical history is involved!

FEDS have option of continuing with their current insurance (retired employee pays monthly premium same as FTE and FEDS pays rest of the insurance) plus mandatory Part A. Whatever is not billable in part A by default falls under current insurance provider and that plans deductibles still apply. Example under GEHA HD plan annual deductible is $1500 per person. GEHA (contracted to UNITED) then picks up 95% and retires are responsible for 5%. There is no upper $ limit for the 5%. Deductible resets every year. $900 is paid by GEHA which is used towards the deductible. So FTE and retires both pay $600 towards deductible out of pocket. Pharmacy benefits are separated from these limits. There is copay. Not sure what happens when drugs cost like used cars. Under these conditions is paying for supplemental plan worth the insurance for worst case outcome to avoid financial bankruptcy? Is one eligible for medical / supplemental plans?

We retirees, were just notified, that our former employer, is not only stopping this plan, but is auto-enrolling us into a horrible Medicare disadvantage plan, within a few months. (However we still have our Medicare part D drug plan, still provided by our former employer). I just turned 70, and pretty much fairly ok health wise. I absolutely want to stay in original Medicare, but now need a medigap plan, such as plan G, that seems to parallel my old Blue Cross Medicare related coverage plan. I live in New Jersey. What would I expect I'd need to do, in order to keep my original Medicare, while trying to obtain perhaps a G plan? Would I have to go through an agent? (I hear many are corrupt and would rather enroll people into Medicare advantage plans without telling them, and take the commission, rather than enroll the customer into an original medigap plan).
