Static skills is the only reason to skip legs because the main focus is performance, not aesthetic. I experienced with my self when my front lever drop because I train my once a week. The best tips is to get bigger upper body to change the center of mass of your body.

I am 177cm 65kg. Started my planche training last month. Watching your video motivates me to keep training. Idk if the full planche is possible for me or not but only time will tell.

I don't think long legs is bad for planche as long as they're not big, not a huge factor. My reason for this is the torso weighs a good deal more than legs inch per inch of height. So while this does help in keeping your center of gravity forward, I don't think its a big factor considering you'll be quite lighter in total body mass with long legs and the angle of your arm will be end up below this lighter area as opposed to below the heavier torso. Source: a bit under 2/3 of my body is legs and I didn't have weird planche experience, it went fairly normal. I do have long arms and slim legs by nature tho.

I feel like as my legs have become proportionally bigger as i train them much more than upper body, planch has become more and more difficult

Im 170/70kg built like a pro gymnast and planche is extremely hard for me. I can do about 50 very deep dips when in top form but in planche my front delt is dying. Had it injured 9 years ago on iron cross. But im not stopping i will do a perfect full planche for 3sec thats all i need.

Another factor is hyperextended joints (hypermobile elbows for example)
@TysonE
@TysonE Жыл бұрын
Why do you think that matters?
@Growlie_
@Growlie_ Жыл бұрын
@@TysonE hey, thanks for the quick answer and curiosity 1. With severe hypermobility it's much harder to activate the biceps when being fully locked out 2. The general instability of the arm in a locked-out position as well as the strain on the biceps tendon In general, I won't say it's impossible as we can clearly see a couple of gymnasts and cali athletes performing high level straight arm skills even with hypermobile elbows but getting there safely imo means having a much safer and slower approach if you want to avoid injury and strengthening seems to take longer What's your take on this? :)

Well put. The only issue is proportions and length of arms. I made a video on FL science (which is the same but upside down for planche) and only location of center of mass and the weight of the segment being lifted (load) matter. Arm length doesn’t matter unless it’s an extreme case and neither do proportions as long as the center of mass is as close to the shoulder as possible. Hope this helps, love your stuff, just started sprinting again to get that test up!
@brinsino

Arm length absolutely matters. Your hands have to be directly under your CG to balance in the planche. If you have longer arms, then you can support yourself at a more open shoulder angle (think angle between arms and torso), so you're in a more advantageous position. The more parallel your arms are to the force you're fighting against (gravity), the more load is supported by your bone structure (force vector running up your arm connecting palm to shoulder), and less load needs to he supported by your delts (force vector perpendicular to arm vector). It's hard to explain with just words; I feel like I need a diagram, but it's basically the same reason that Maltese is harder than planche, and Victorian is harder than front lever. Your CG is still in the same place, but your shoulder angle determines how much you need to rely on your muscles to generate the required force, in the required direction to offset gravity.

@@brinsino I would recommend you watching my front lever video, made against geek climber who thought the same thing. It’s a natural conclusion that arm length should matter but from a physics perspective it’s not very relevant. As for angle of flexion which is what you are referring to, it does in fact increase difficulty in extreme cases, but in most natural cases there is not much difference in muscle activation between say 55degrees of flexion and 45 degrees of flexion. People get this confused because the closer your center of gravity is to your feet the farther you have to lean forward. Therefore many people wrongly attribute leaning farther forward with larger difficulty but this is only true in extreme cases, and it is the increase of moment arm that is actually making the skill more difficult.

What happened to cartilage in your wrists?😮
@countdracula4656
@countdracula4656 Жыл бұрын
@darindavss4040 The fracture was caused by a fall. It healed poorly in part because of a poor set and because small wrist bones dont tend to mend exactly the same way they were before. I no longer have the same strength, range of movement, and flexibility as before, and it gets worse over time. I'm lucky I can still lift heavy and do other calisthenics routines that don't require me doing a head stand or planche style hold. Yet I can hold heavy dumbells and barbells overhead with a wrist wrap to prevent discomfort.

Everyone can planche if you are not too fat and have a minimum amount of muscle , it's just take tim (it depend of everybody ) and a proper way to train it ( good exercise , good volume , good frequencie ). . Some time just begin by saying to your brain thaht planche is not something impossible (it is not at all) you will make good progress. Of course if you are short it's easier , of course it's more difficult if you have huge legs , but not as you think , Everyone can achieve a single full planche hold.
