Actually good as if. Horizons is the worst Pokemon anime EVER. It will never be as good or surpass the original. You are beign over exaggerated cause Horizons is OVERRATED and is thrash. I mean it.

The show has not disappointed me yet. It’s got SUCH A COOOOL STORY with the 6 hero’s lore. Like- THATS so Much cooler than any story arc than in the actual games. So far I don’t think there’s been a single “bad episode” so far. The recap ep during the Paldea arc was pretty boring, but I get why it had to exist. Every episode has either been fantastic, or “yeah it’s ok”. Not a single bad character, bad episode, or bad scene. Of this is all IMO lol. Let me know what you all think!

It's good. If you like pokemon you'll like Horizons and they're clearly building towards a great overall story. I like the dynamic between adults and children but I do feel like it stunts and delays Liko and Roy's growth when they don't have to solve problems on their own. Hopefully they get more room to grow as characters in the later episodes

Very good video, I am very satisfied with every episode of Horizon, especially episode 23. When Roy laments that the Galarian Moltres is stronger than he imagined, Roy begins to feel fear, and liko notices this and immediately comforts Roy's feelings. Personally , I think the relationship between liko and Roy is that of an older sister and younger brother. And I love how they support and encourage each other in the story. Galarian Moltres and Lucius The farewell scene is so touching And hope that more stories about Lucius and the Six Heroes will be revealed in the future😄

I love Pokémon Horizons. My only complaint with it is that they kicked Ash out right after a season where he was poorly written and a Mary Sue. They shouldn't have let the mess that is Journeys be Ash's last adventure. At least give him one more season to fix his character and make him go on a great note.

And you can't say he had the best conclusion when one of the very last scenes have him watching at a rainbow and Ho-Oh isn't there. They could have started and ended the series with Ho-Oh passing by, it would have been perfect. But apparently they didn't think of that, even though they did put a rainbow there. Ho-Oh's symbol. This series has a lot of missed opportunities, but this is the biggest on yet.

I'm actually kinda surprised how serialized the story is. Even though the previous format was fairly episodic, it was easy for new viewers to jump in and out without feeling lost. I'm excited to watch this series with my kids in a few years but I'm unsure if I would have to backtrack for any of the story to make sense. I'm also not sure about the longevity of this series, is Pokemon going to keep Liko and Roy for a long-term tenure or is this just for the generation?

Hard to say how long this will run. The "track down the six heroes" plot line certainly isn't built to last more than a couple years at the current pace, so I wonder if they will switch things up again.

I think fans should give Pokemons Horizons a chance. I certainly will when I can get to see it. However, I just thought of a way to, if they play their cards right, bring back Ash for a special episode or two in Horizons... as well as a way to resolve an old mystery, finally... With a bit of slight retconning, why not make the forgotten GS ball from the earlier anime one of the ancient Pokeballs and have Liko and Roy return to Kanto to retrieve it, meeting Ash and Professor Oak along the way and as originally intended when they open the GS ball, they find a Celibi...? We could perhaps even see Team Rocket's Jessie & James make a return and end up siding with Liko, Roy and Ash teaming up against the villainous Explorers. Such a crossover would be the Alcremie icing on the cake, especially if it's an anniversary event or something, lol..!

I actually stopped watching at diamond and pearl cause I was tired of practicley the same thing Ash battles gyms and loses the league over and over. Peaked at xy and sm out of curiosity cause I found them a bit diferent. With a completeley diferant main charecter and what looks like a diferant story formula I watched afew of the first episodes and I like it compared to the first pokemon anime. Call it bad just cause Ash is gone but I like the diferance in charecters and story.

Outside of like 2 specific instances, I have really been enjoying this series so far! And both instance involve important stuff happening OFF SCREEN. 😅 Anyways, as you've mentioned before, this is kinda sorta like Skies of Arcadia or One Piece. We're only 23 episodes in but I am already gonna miss this crew. Molly basically defuncting from being a typical Nurse Joy due to the stress of working inside but also wanting to help the Pokémon that are NOT brought into Pokémon Centers. Murdock, the big chef dude who had a rough past with a fellow pastry d00d, worries about his niece Dot alot, and just an overall nice dude for his size. Curious as to how he and Dot joined TRVT Orla, a childhood friend of Friede, a mechanic who really does her damnest to make sure things are running smoothly when it comes to The Brave Asagi (which we learned SHE built along with her partner Metang [now a Metagross]). Oh and she LOVES getting new mechanical stuff as we learned from their visit to Galar's _Motorstoke_ . Ludlow, the old and wise fisherman who lookin like a human Drampa, a long time mentor for Friede, and often speaks out keep advice and related metaphors whether others are around him or not. Still somewhat shrouded in mystery. Dot (online alias: Nidothing), a bit of a shutin (especially at the beginning) who is clearly very knowledgeable and helpful when it comes to gathering information for RVT. She also is the one who created their specialized application for their Rotom Phones. As Nidothing, she is an influencer who provides useful information for all upcoming trainers! Dot is lowkey our "3rd Protagonist". Lol. Then of course Liko & Roy who we will continue to see grow as the series progresses even if things seem slow at first! The Explorers are an interesting bunch. Their boss Gibeon is still a complete mystery to all of us but we at least know of his secondary and admins: Hamber (the bulter and second-in-command), Amethio (the no nonsense straight to the point guy with Ceruledge) along with Zirc and Onia (yes, that's their dub names) Spinel (a very cunning and mischievous individual who thinks far ahead), Sango (the pink haired girl), Onyx (the big tough guy built like a rock), and Agate (the rather stern black lady). They want the pendant but why? Hmm. On a side note: I just wish the English Dub would get a damn release date so people who DON'T watch the Jap version of these episodes can watch them and join in on the conversation. Dub sounds great btw. I dunno if you saw the sneak peek. It's on Pokémon's KZbin channel.

@based980 Episode 5 where Liko got her VERY FIRST VICTORY in the series... _off screen_ . And our newest episode (23) where after the crazy cliffhanger at the end of episode 22... Friede just shows up at the Pokémon Center where Liko and Roy were (like we just skipped over what was happening with Friede and Amethio) and that kinda just soured the episode a bit (and Amethio doesn't appear at all again until the very END of the episode)

The combination of young and mature main character cast is a excellent way to attract different age fans. I'm alright with it not having as much humor as Ash's era, but the tense story plot, Legendary pokemon, and mysterious tactical villains make up for it. 😱I was so surprised when Spinel dared to do something so evil and brainwashed a child with his Beheeyem.

My perspective is from someone who hasn't watched the original anime past the Advanced Series: I am very much enjoying the show. Strangely, it gives me Pretty Cure vibes, at least the half-fantasy slice-of-life parts of that franchise. The focus on the characters' personal goals and struggles makes the less frequent high-octane action feel much more high stakes, and as much as I like a good comedy show I think the grounded atmosphere really serves the Pokemon world well; like the online mini-series and shorts, it's a different and refreshing take on it, and honestly it was about time the franchise started really exploring the concept of a world full of magical creatures beyond the battling aspect.

I think the start of this show was fantastic. I was keeping my expectation a bit low, since this was a brand new start and I didn't want to start it off feeling disappointed, but it has been great since the first episode. While the plot being different means we don't know what the future will hold, unlike most of the other series, it's very refreshing to find out more informations bit by bit and it leads to a lot more discussions about what will happen. The pacing is slower than usual and it's fantastic because of it. The kids learn at a steady and gradual way and every now and then we learn more about the adults too. It also helps that until now we literally had 0 filler and every episode starts where the last one ended and continues from there progressing the main story. The characters are all charming and the pokemon especially feel a lot more present and lively than in Journeys for example. You can always find them doing stuff in the background, even when the scene isn't focused on them and I just love it a lot. Compared to the past series there are a lot fewer battles, but honestly I don't have any problems with it. Since it's a brand new start, we can't just pretend to get huge battles every episode when our main characters still have what is the equivalent to lvl 10 pokemon. Overall I love this series do much! I can't wait to see what happens next!

@@MizuHime07 Yeah, it's a situation where you hope the show catches on and that more creators talk about it to grow a new audience. Clinging exclusively to Ash is probably not going to turn out well over the long term. Also, I'm hoping that the English dub will spark interest in Horizons when it finally comes out in 2043. :P I'm happy you enjoy that stuff! I love the more obscure topics and comparisons of JPN/ENG versions, too. If that content worked with the channel's audience I would do a lot more of it because I think it creates good value for people - but it gets flat-out rejected every time I try my hand at it. I actually have quite a bit of interesting content drafted including fascinating deep dives into the production of the Pokemon anime from the Japanese side , but as someone who is self-employed, it's unfortunately just not feasible or responsible to log 60-70 hours of crucial working time into a video that returns $10 in Google Adsense when I need to take care of the fam lol. It's a shame, because I'd love to pump out tons of that stuff if it made sense to do it. Maybe I could inject some tidbits at the end of videos, though it could just end up damaging watch time. Either way, thank you for always being so supportive of my content - it means a lot! :)

Yes it is good, superb even. Ash might not be the main focus in it, but the story, the character development, the experiences, and the way each region is being explored… It’s basically Journeys done correctly; with everything flowing together and not going “all over the place” so much. While I also miss Ash, he has accomplished so much already that he just needs to completely become a Pokemon Master by being able to help and befriend any Pokemon in the world; not to mention Ash said there were so many Pokemon he wanted to still meet (such as the Pokemon from Paldea, Ancient Hisui, Kitakami, and the Indigo Disk whom Ash has not officially seen or met yet). I know Ash will return someday, but until that time comes, he will just have to work hard offscreen to get closer to his goal while our new Horizons protagonists similarity follow his “footsteps” without knowing it (Liko wants to learn more about and understand Pokemon feelings and Roy wants to become a strong battler and explore many regions).

Horizons has a ton of remaining potential, They're very capable of splitting the story into sagas and having "filler" inbetween those to develop characters some more, such as Liko taking a trip back to school physically and seeing her friend. Six Heroes has been going great so far. You can clearly see Liko and Roy are still inexperienced, which hopefully will lead them to properly develop. Hope they don't drop the ball with the story, they're setting up good stuff for the future.

I feel like Horizons could be two different shows. Liko and Roy in a traditional story about two new trainers and how they grow, a la the first few seasons of Pokemon; the other a burnt out professor regaining his fascination with pokemon in an adventure to figure out the mystery of a pendant, catching the other pokemon, Journeys Ash level battles. Not that they haven't been well integrated in the current show. I do enjoy it. Maybe a part of me just wants something like the before.

I actually LOVE Pokemon Horizons. Liko is reletable and I like her monologues, Roy is Ash-like and funny in weird way, Captain Pikachu is the most badass character in anime history, Orla is waifu. And there is a story in it, not only few event from games and 30 episodes between about nothing. Also, it's a new story, with new twists, not only plots from game I've played already. My friend who isn't a pokemon fan (she only watched anime circa 20 years ago) really likes it too.

I feel like the best way to put it is that it very well could be good. It’s getting there but needs an extra push. I enjoy seeing new main characters, but we’ve gotta let them have more agency and more exploration. When Ash started off, he had some more experienced peers traveling with him, but keyword peers. They were friends and went through similar shenanigans as him. He was not relying on a 40 year old man with a SUPER KEWL CHOWIZOWD GUYS to save him every time stuff looked bad. Friede in particular, though a lot of the adults really, slow stuff down in terms of the kids being forced to progress. I get this is a world tour series too, but focus on popular old Pokémon (outside mascot Pikachu) is really not needed. Instead of using these oversaturated picks, why not for the old Pokémon use some ones with less screentime? God forbid Feraligatr and Volcarona get something. New Pokémon should be shown more too. Seeing a Quagsire in a 2023 Gen 9 anime is just sad. The villains are also just kind of a step down from what came before. Yeah, I get people like them being serious, but in that way they’ve really lost a lot of flair. Pokémon villains are normally unique, and the Explorers are kinda just your normal jobbers, just “Hi, I am mean” without many bells and whistles. Like the two admins we’ve seen so far can just be boiled down to “I am mean and emotionless” and “I am condescending and dumb.” And there’s some other goofs like a supposed ancient adventurer with a shiny Rayquaza (impossible Pokémon in core series lore), and an Umbreon, a friendship evolution, with one of said shallow goons.

What bothers me the most is that Friede was clearly supposed to "be" a grown up Ash, but the writers didn't have the guts to pull it off. You know, "just in case" they want to bring back Ash someday. I think they should have removed Captain Pikachu to make Friede a more unique character. He can still have a Pikachu, but at least make another Pokemon the leader (I would have loved Captain Emolga, since it's a flying squirrel). It just doesn't feel right this way. Yo-kai Watch has never tried anything like this, Digimon tried it once, and well...Data Squad was indeed very good due to its plot, but most people didn't like how the creators brought back Agumon, just for its popularity. On top of that, nothing really happens in the show. Maybe this feeling will change once the dub releases, but so far, it just feels like the average shounen travel anime that you can just skip. The only thing that keeps people watching is the fact that it's Pokemon (and maybe the Dot arc).

After Pokemon Journeys, I had no expectations and no hope for Horizons. After all this time, what I'm left with are feelings that I question. I think it is better than Journeys, but it's not remarkable to me. I think Liko has potential, but she isn't quite as hype to me as I heard. I genuinely can't find a good reason as to why Roy is here, and I'm not that interested in any of the other characters. I don't think it's bad, but it could do better.

I noticed when looking back how Journeys was leading into that kind of style that Horizons is doing where instead of the long road to the location they are heading with something happening along the way, it’s more they get to the spot and the plot happens which Journeys (and a little bit of Sun and Moon) started and I’m all about that, I think story wise it’s very unique in how they decided to do this rather then the average story that we were used too with Ash where it was battle the gym leaders and progress to the major tournament, but I do think this impacts Liko and Roy’s growth a bit as it just seems (as of now) their growth as trainers are more focused around the mystery of Terapagos and the old trainer and his team which once they are done it puts them in a tough spot of “where do we go from there”?, I would be lying if I didn’t say I wanted them to have a similar journey style that Ash had but again I feel with how things are going it works with them but I think it’s good just those small nitpicks is what I would argue on.

After seeing the same story for so many times, with gym badges and the elite four etc., this is a breath of fresh air. Not that I dislike the traditional story, but seeing new characters and a more story-driven show, with a focus on character development, makes it feel more real and less like a retelling of the video game. I like both in different ways, but at this age, this is the only thing that could get me into watching Pokémon again, so it does something right.

I was not a fan of the direction the art style took since Sun and Moon, but the character designs of Horizons look great. This might be a symptom of "they changed it now it sucks," and because it's new characters, it doesn't trigger that in my mind. At the same time, however, I did much prefer the art style of Journeys to Sun and Moon, so it could just be that they've hit their stride as far as the art style goes. That said, I haven't actually watched Horizons, so this is more just my general feeling about the art style which is kind of a big deal to me when it comes to animated shows.

I'd say so - all the key characters were in place, we'd gotten a good taste of the episode formula and knew where we were going, Ash had already racked up three badges and was in the midst of this getting his fourth, and so on. I was hooked from the first episode I saw (Episode 11, if memory serves me correctly). :)

Pokémon Horizons: Not just good. It’s Great. The two tier cast of unique characters with the unique storyline feels fresh and I’m happy that Pokémon is making a whole series with a unique story and not just one that follows the games. Unique stories allows more possibilities and that’s what is helping make Horizons special.

You think moving on so easily is weird, well I think the opposite, I think being overly attached to a character that overstayed his welcome, had way too many years than he should had, I think that shows inability to move on and it's bad and toxic because if you can't move on from a character that isn't even real you won't be able to move on for real things, you get a bf /gf they broke up with you after years of being together maybe you won't be able to move on from them so what will you do about that stalk them? you have a job for years suddenly you're fired can't move on are you staying at the doorstep of your old job waiting to be hired again? Your best friend and you have a fight he or she stops being your friend are you going to try to force them to still be your friend? No in those situations you move on and continue with your life. It's the same situation here Ash story ended you don't stay stuck in the past that's toxic and wrong, you move on, focus on the future. Honestly I think it's more problematic when people can't move on over something, instead of those that can move on because they are tired of that something.

@@symphonixblades first of all he did have development, more than what is going on in Horizons. Second of all, Ash is what is called a static character. It's how he affects the people around him that what drives the story not how the world affects him. You completely missed the point of the show and the character proving your criticism to be incorrect. Thirdly considering the popularity of the show and the outpouring of emotion this was clearly a character who had NOT outstayed his welcome. Finally it's actually worse to be able to move on to easily rather than not being able to move on. In your case your love one dies then a few days later you go, well time to get a new loved one. It shows you have no emotional attachment, feelings or loyalty. And that's what a psychopath does.

I LOVE HORIZONS, but one area that they are lacking is challenging the main protagonists in the long-term. The gang are finding and catching Lucius's pokemon way too conveniently and easily. We are only on episode 23 and they already caught 2 out of the 6 pokemon owned by Lucius. Both Liko and Roy are still rookie trainers they did not develop enough to justify catching 2 of Lucius's pokemon this early. We complained about Goh being rushed bc he defeated and caught a flygon in episode 33 and sciucune in episode 52. I am not defending those moments bc they were horrible, but the capture of Maltras was not much better. I think that this is an issue bc the writers are not used to presenting such epic storylines and villains this early into a series so it is a bit rough around the edges when it comes to pacing are powerscaling. I hope Horizons fixes this issue moving forward.

People call Goh a Mary Sue, but his most impressive captures were Scyther, Flygon, Aerodactyl and Regieleki. They could have been timed better, but they felt well earned. If anything, it's a shame that he barely used them. People also complain about Suicune too much. It was a classic "befriending a legendary" episode, which showed that Goh refused to take advantage of a weakened legendary. That's why he helped and then released it. Suicune came back to show its gratitude.

You actually have a point. I was concerned about that since Liko and Roy are already quickly progressing through their goals. We're only 23 episodes in and Roy is already 1/3rd of the way through his goal and Liko's Terapagos already woke up from the pendant when I'd expect these to occur at the end of the first season of this series. I think this may be because of the massive reduction of filler episodes (from my opinion, less than ten episodes here can be considered filler) which although is nice, does mean they progress the story a bit too fast. What I worry is that the story will progress too fast and then burn itself out like halfway through the series. Also I think the Galtres capture is meh, if Ep 23 wasn't scuffed by not following up on the last episode's cliffhanger, and the capture took another one/two episodes, it would have been justified

That does not make sense. Even if they followed through with episode 22's cliffhanger and took an extra episode I think Liko should have failed to fully calm it down, maltras should have flown away only for Liko to grow in her goal before meeting it again 15-20 episodes later.

Horizons is alright but I think it’s making the same mistake as Journeys in that it’s setting up a lot of plot threads that I think won’t be tied up sufficiently due to the show’s globe trotting premise. Liko made an important friend at school in the first episode and we’ve seen very little of her since. The adult Rising Volt Tacklers are fine as characters, their backstories are fun to learn about. But their role in the plot right now is to repeatedly save the day for our true protagonists Liko and Roy, who are so much weaker than the adults that they rarely have a chance to shine. It feels like the plot is happening to Liko and Roy, rather than Liko and Roy taking an active role in the plot. I’m hoping this issue that’s been bugging me will get better as Liko and Roy improve as trainers.

Main problem I have with the series is that the pendant and Lucias's Pokemon can create a get out of jail free card for the protagonists, which cheapens the tension a bit. Apart from that I really love the show. Liko is a breath of fresh air and really likeable, Friede is cool and the rest also liven up the story in their own way
