I must say, while I do admire some of Ash's character traits I do admire, like his determination to never give up, his supportiveness towards his friends, etc. there are some traits of him that kinda ruin his character for me, like his tendency of rushing into trouble without thinking, his tendency of getting aggressive when somebody critizises him or his absolute cluelessness of everything except Pokemon. That's why I tried to rewrite these traits for myself. I think it's possible for Ash to get rid of these flaws. All he needs is a reason to do so. For example: If one of his rash actions causes one of his friends or a Pokemon to get hurt, it could make him realize that not thinking things trough really does put people into danger and drives him to be more careful in the future. But whenever I think of something like this, I am also worried to destroy his character, that Ash will not be Ash anymore. So I need your advise. Can I rewrite Ash's flaws, his IQ, his rashness, without destroying his character? There are enough traits I leave him, like his bravery, his determination to never give up, his supportiveness towards his friends, his close bond with Pokemon or his eagerness for battle. Please answer my comment, this question is breweling in me so long, I'll go insane if nobody does.

Liko is trash compared to Ash, I have tried to watch Horizons and gave it a real chance. But I find Liko to be too unbearable to watch, I hate her personality, goals and basically everything about her. She will also never be as good as Ash.

Ash loves and cares for Pokémon to the point where he will stand up to protect any Pokémon that is in danger, even if the Pokémon was constantly mean to ash or he had no intention on catching it he would constantly be there to save a Pokémon in need 2. Just because someone is relatable doesn't always mean they're good, Ash is so great because he represents what so many people feel like inside, many people want to be upbeat, many people want to go on adventures. The XY seasons are my favorite, i think it would be better if Ash's journey ended there. Also because the more cartoonish and simple art style would be better for a new series with different characters, Horizons is much more visually appealing to me than Sun and Moon or Journeys.

Liko is starting to interest me every bit as much as Ash did, she may seem like an average young girl at first glance but she is certainly nothing less of a character shrouded in mystery, she and her family have an intriguing and mysterious background, and their connection to this enigmatic adventurer known as Lucius. Despite how late we are into the series there's still so much we don't know about where this is all headed. We've gotten to know Liko and her family but we still don't know what the ''Explorers'' want with Terapagos, what their ultimate goal is and what role Terapagos will likely play in achieving it. Guess we'll have to wait and see, and in time, all will be revealed.....

I love her personality a lot and she is extremely different from Ash.. In the first few episodes I loved how she reacted to certain situations and it was just kinda funny to see. During the Galarian moltres episode I was hoping Roy would catch it instead, but Liko did I’m not mad about it though HAHAHA I also love Roy’s personality a lot and the fact that both of them have contrasting personalities with Roy being energetic and more reckless while Liko is a bit more calmer and cautious! Probably not the best comparison, and I won’t get too in depth, but for a while, I felt that the people who hate Liko just because she’s not Ash gave me flashbacks to people immediately hating Korra because she’s not Aang (and, for the most part, those people still do - I personally love Korra, but won’t deny some of her faults).

I feel the same way, as I have always thought that people were being a bit too overly attached to Ash. Because of this, there are still plenty of people out there who just won't let Ash go and are holding out hope that he will eventually return one day, and while I get that they want this because we all got so used to having Ash as the main character, I have always said that it's too soon for him to come back and that people need to be more willing to give Horizons, and by extension Liko a chance. The fact that she's getting some hate because she's not Ash shows me that the ones who believe this are being too closed-minded

@@aoto8897 someone didn’t watch Horizons. One of Liko’s biggest flaws is the fact that she’s a people pleaser in some way. She’d loose a battle on purpose to please other people like she did with Wakaba (?) but she even ignores the fact that most people don’t want to win that way. There was a whole episode about it where Liko purposely lost that training battle with Roy where they were supposed to train their pokemons attacks. And her doing aomething like that keeps reappearing several times throughout the show. Nor did you watch the video you commented on. The guy literally mentions that one of Liko’s flaws is her priority over compassion in situations where that’s bad.

You know, the reason why I like Liko is that we are pretty similar. You maybe don't know it, but I have Asperger Syndrome and also avoid standing in the spotlight. So I feel like Liko and I are soulmates. And actually, that's why I can identify myself better with her than I can with Ash.

By the way, I heard a Theory about Liko’s Team eventually ending up being the New Six Heroes, which could potentially give hints towards what her Future Pokémon could be(in my interpretation of the Theory at least), what do you think?

Although it was nice having a familiar face for each generation, what kept the anime fresh at the time was how Ash would, more or less, start fresh with a new team of Pokémon. Even when there seemed to be a pattern forming for the type of Pokémon Ash would catch and add to his team, it was still exciting wondering just which Pokémon we’d get, what their personalities were, and what they brought to that specific team. Now, we get that and so much more because we’re still too early on in the adventure to really know enough about Liko, especially as she grows and changes over time.

I really like her. What I liked about early seasons Ash was that besides his cockyness and brashness, when it mattered, he was able to show his true strength and do the right thing. So basically besides being an idiot, he had a good heart, and was able to show it when it was needed. But as the seasons with Ash became worse (like in Journeys), I would turn more towards characters like Chloe. Chloe is an introvert, so relatable for me. But also she called out Ash and Goh on their bullcrap, because just like me, she can't stand stupid and annoying extroverts like them (I'm not saying that all extroverts are annoying and/or stupid, but Ash and Goh kinda are). And Riko is kinda like that too. She's a relatable introvert who needs time to open herself to people, but she cares, maybe even too much, but doesn't know how to express it properly yet and do the right thing.

I honestly don't really hate her I actually there's zero reason for me to hate her, I'm just indifferent to her is all. It’s pretty clear why everyone likes her so much. She’s a really funny and relatable character. She wants to understand Pokémon and she is very socially awkward, which she has to overcome, and it’s Sprigatito who helps her through it. Also, can we all admit that Liko’s partner Pokémon Sprigatito is just a lovely little Gato? She can be fickle at times (though she is a cat), but she’s also super charming and sociable, and she can be really funny at times as well. She’s also pretty badass as well. I’m glad I picked the Grass Cat as my starter Pokémon in “Pokémon Scarlet and Violet”. These two are just ace together. Also, Roy and Fuecoco are also really good. Fuecoco is such a funny little spud, and Roy reminds me a Lot of Ash.

Honestly I liked a alot of "new protags of an continuation of a show" with two being Korra from Avatar (she's good and so is the show fight me) and Jaden Yuki from Yugioh GX Both give a refreshing feel on the main character while still having that bit of charm to old protag had and it just feels nice Also im a sucker for wholesome idiots cause they're funny, cute and adorable (characters like Mako Mankanshoku, Iruma Susuki, and My Adventures With Superman)

My only complaints are that 1. She should have a third party member! This new series seems tp be going through the story awfully fast but i want either a new team member or an evolution 2. The thing I want to know is how old Liko and Roy meant to be in the Pokémon horizons anime? They look roughly between 10-12 but it’s hasn’t been confirmed interestingly enough. I do think Liko is definitely older than Roy however.

Hard to say since age is more of a relative thing in Pokémon, but the style and fit of the school uniforms at her academy most closely resemble those of a Japanese junior high school, so that’s likely the rough age group they are trying to portray (i.e around 12-13 years old if she’s a first-year). In my opinion, her personality has the feel of a young, confused teenager to it as well.

Classic animes like Pokemon, Beyblade, Yu gi oh, Bakugan always had male protagonists since the beginning even though these were popular among both boys and girls. By choosing Liko as the new protagonist the writers proved that girls are not just meant to the protagonist sidekick they can also take the main lead. Also even when the earlier protagonists were male the female viewers had no problem with them so we shouldn't have any problem accepting a female protagonist either.

Liko’s got the cuteness factor and relatability everyone talks about, don’t get me wrong. But if you ask me, her Writing is where she excels. Her goal, personality, and “Kindness is always a plus, but if it makes you too complicit, you’ll only accidentally hurt people More with your pacifism” arc, are Very new for Pokémon, and she executed that concept Very well. I feel my opinion on Horizons as a whole can sum up my thoughts on Liko. It’s the Legends Arceus effect. After decades of a formula that’s very easy to stagnate(especially if we just went with “recycling Ash clones, except they Win”, and making the anime a Direct mirror of the games with nothing like Ash-Greninja or Infernape’s Blaze), The anime is finally doing something new and innovative, and Succeeding because they’re doing Such a good job with so many new ideas meshing together Perfectly

Me: YAH. Liko's the best mostly the best character in this show anyway. Though with the fact that she's obviously be in the same family tree as Ash & Dawn who are definitely the official endgame marriage couple at the end of his & Dawn's adventures too at that in this case as well. I wonder if Liko and Roy and the rising volt tacklers will be able to fight some villan teams when they defeat the explorers I don`t know make travel to sinnoh make cyrus summon dialga and palkia then like instead of the lake trio coming in giratina just banishes everyone to the distortion world then cyrus corrupts giratina then they battle cyurs with giratina then he gets defeated and then dialga and palkia stop a ramapaging giratina and saves liko roy and the rising volt tacklers. When they go to Unova we have the same plot about pokemon liberation and N and all that stuff but team plasma captures kyurem we have the final climax where N and Zekrom battle kyurem they fuse and The rising volt tacklers fight kyurem but fail then Liko or Roy or the professor become the hero of truth and save kyurem and reshiram. As for kalos I don`t have any ideas

They really do? I think she's ok and different from Ash, but not necessarily a breath of fresh air. I don't like that she and Roy (especially him) have been neglected from becoming stronger when facing the antagonists. It's really Fiedre of captain Pikachu the ones who comes in and save them. Then in the next episode Liko is the one who conveniently has sharpen her battle skills without really having proven herself. I like the new series, but I still reserve my judgement until I really witness a moment of true character's development.
