I always found this game terrifying. Most notable for me is the soundtrack, which is super haunting - it got toned way down from the prototype which is even "worse". There's also like 30 unused songs for some reason. Absolutely adore it, but man is it scary when you're little and never watched Looney Tunes.

A snes drunk video is welcome every day of the week. I had this game as a kid, it was VERY surreal, some backgrounds were really abstract. I remember not knowing if the game was about nightmares, because the when the boss music kicked in, it felt like a reality check and it all became uplifting again. Weird, weird game.

Porky was in multiple haunted house type stories back in the day. One cartoon, he and Sylvester the cat went to a hotel called Dry Gulch Inn and were haunted by mice playing pranks. In another, he and Sylvester bought an old victorian mansion that was also "haunted". And in yet another, an old black and white cartoon of Porky playing a cop and having to investigate a haunted house. It was very common for Porky to be "haunted" and quite often it turned out to be mice. But not always

I still play this game today and I enjoy it! I used to rent it all the time when I was younger, and I’ve owned copies of it at various points. Of the Looney Tunes games on SNES, I played this, Speedy’s game, and Rabbit Rampage the most growing up, but this was always my favorite cuz of the atmosphere. It’s an easy play through, but when you crank up the difficulty it does get a bit tougher especially when you get to Wacky World

As a piece of trivia, Phoenix Interactive is actually one of two renamings of Enigma Variations (the other being Dark Technologies). One thing I could never get over was how badly the music got butchered in the final ver of the game compared to the prototype ver due to a change in sound driver for whatever reason. That said, this is one of those games I can't help but be fascinated by.

Sound was always so hit or miss during the 16-bit days. Some stuff was truly incredible and other stuff you wanted to just mute it. The worst is when a really good looking game would be essentially ruined by unbearably terrible music.

My very first video game in my life. I got my SNES when I was 3 and this was the first game I launched and the very first game I beat. Also for some reason I got the prototype version with Dark logo in the intro and yeah, the sound was waaay above whatever I heard in the roms of the final version. Glad I still got my SNES with that game cartridge - they will forever have a special place in my heart.

The proof that 90's Looney Tunes hype was real was this game. Porky was basically the first break out LT star, probably the oldest character they still use frequently. His role shifted to more of a sidekick role once the other characters became popular, giving Porky a more interesting role. Especially with Daffy, who I'm glad they included in this game. It truly is a unique feeling game from the others in the LT series, and using the haunted hotel shorts as a basis gave it a great feel. Only thing I have a problem with is that they gave Porky this smooth, cartoonish animation, but the bosses are all very stilted. If only they had more time and energy giving the bosses fuller animation to match the rest of the game.

@@KasumiKenshirou That's because after finally finding their Mickey level star character they still kinda didn't know where they wanted to take their shorts and what to do with their new main character. So they gave him a bunch of forgettable sidekicks that really did nothing but to give Porky someone to talk to. That is, until a certain screwy duck came along.

You're forgetting the scariest part, the game over screen! A still image of Porky Pig would appear on-screen and the classic "That's all folks!" line is heard and then the image rushes at you towards the screen. I had to hide under a blanket or a wall so he wouldn't "get" me.

I actually grew up playing this game there were lots of things I liked about it, the weather changing every playthrough which I totally forgot about it’s been so long, Daffy randomly coming out and cackling so loud you shoot up into the air like a rocket, the music is also great and at times really gives off that spooky vibe, you said it best the this game is best played every few years, as with Tiny Toons Buster Busts Loose.

Some of the levels shown here look like they are based on Porky in Wackyland. This was a black and white cartoon that was later redone in color. This cartoon is where Gogo Dodo and Wackyland shown in Tiny Toon Adventures originated. I remember watching a documentary about Looney Tunes where they interviewed some of the animators. One of them talks about the original design of Tweetie, who originally was all pink and hadn't got his features yet. A censor then said, "That bird is naked! Put some feathers on him!". The animator then points out that they thought it was weird the censor complained about that but never noticed that Porky never wore pants.

Always great to see another video and something a little offbeat as well. Like I said on Twitter I only got a real snes in 2021 and picked this up soon after. So there’s no direct nostalgia as I skipped the snes and moved to pc gaming in the 90’s. Though the graphics, atmosphere, Porky’s mannerisms and having daffy pop out just make this a fun throwback to the cartoons. Definitely a fun Halloween romp. 👍

Seems this is mostly based on Chuck Jones' "Scaredey Cat", a 1948 cartoon which also starred Sylvester the cat.. where Porky buys a haunted house and only Sylvester can see all the random objects trying to kill Porky.. which freaks him out but Porky just thinks Sylvester is a paranoid freakshow. They did a sequel a few years later called Claws for Alarm. 2 years earlier in 1946 there was a great Bob Clampett cartoon, Kitty Kornered, where Sylvester and the neighborhood cats trick Porky into thinking Martians are invading ala War of the Worlds

The replay value is about 2 playthroughs before you never touch it again. It was a later release on the Snes, and I'm surprised that it isn't worth alot more than it is. For example, Looney Tunes B-ball is about $65-$70. Haunted Holiday though? Maybe $10-$15.

I remember reading a magazine review of this when it came out back in the day. If I recall, it was a strictly average game which was notable only for the random weather system and Porky's details animations, but was otherwise distinctly mediocre. Then again, magazine reviewers were much stricter back then than you are because they were reviewing every game that came out at the time against every other game of the era, not just asking how it would hold up when being judged in hindsight more than 20 years later.
