Hello I have watched many of your videos and I will say that they are all very informative but I have a question! Do any of the print on demand sites NOT tell me what I can and can’t print? I want to have my own website offering my own brand of T-shirts. These T-shirts will be on the border of being not politically correct. Nothing X-rated just things that will be provocative. So do you know of any print on demand site that will allow me to make that decision without their intervention? Thank you in advance for your reply.

did you say using ai tool like midjourney will be a copy infringement? A work of art created by artificial intelligence without any human input cannot be copyrighted under U.S. law, a U.S. court in Washington, D.C., has ruled.

Thanks for the video and I have one of the most tricky questions in here: Is it a good strategy to set up active(lets say printful) and passive(all the 3 big names) POD business model at the same time? If you find a niche that is standing out of the saturated market but has scaling abilities and want to create brand awareness I obviously will have to chose the active POD. My concern is that the customers will be getting different quality t-shirts with the same logo/print if I choose an active and all of the 3 passive POD providers. Not sure how good is this for the brand. What do you suggest I am looking forward.

Hi Greg, TeePublic have recently changed their business model and categorise many seasoned and new designers as Apprentices, thereby paying a lot less than what they previously paid. According to some very disparaging comments on their website, that also effects their search parameters, so designers are also selling a lot less units. I just spent half a day starting an account with them and loading designs before noticing that they labelled me an "Apprentice", so fall into this low-ranking category. I'm just leaving 10 designs there to see what happens and will appeal it, but it sounds like they are targeting Graphic Designers over the more generic POD Designers. The other thing is that they no longer give you a chance to price your own T-shirts. It automatically gets listed and is discounted to "$16 for 2 days". The "normal" price being $22. Any thoughts on alternative POB businesses, as it sounds like TeePublic have done a Bud Lite as well? Go Woke and go broke! It's a great opportunity for another POD business to stand up, play the game with a straight bat and take over TeePublic's market share!

Thanks for explaining the impact this is having on our business, mate. I wasn't aware of all that. I've been focusing on RB and TP, and I'm in the "Apprentice" category as well. I'll probably keep uploading to TP, but I reckon it's a good idea to start diversifying a bit more (like Greg said in the video as well). I'm thinking of Zazzle, Spreadshirt and Threadless.

Hey Greg thank you for your content. I play poker for a living and have been thinking about starting a YT channel to chronicle the ups and downs of this career path. Along with that I've been wanting to start a Tshirt/apparel company. It would be poker-centric but also spinoff into just funny tees in general. Ideally I'd have my own website for it but am open to all the options. Do you think POD is a better option for me or can I merge the two (posting on Amazon AND my own direct sales)? Hopefully these questions make sense, I'm still wrapping my head around the execution of POD and or doing direct sales. Thank you in advance if you are able to help!!
@GregGottfried
@GregGottfried 11 ай бұрын
Hey right on that’s cool. Yeah that makes sense. I’d post on Amazon Merch on demand and your own direct sales. Just make sure the pricing is the same. If you’re doing your own direct sales I imagine you will be using printful or printify so make sure the quality is about the same. Direct sale shirts will be higher quality so if your brand starts to take off, you may want to cut out Amazon for brand product quality protection.

Hey Greg, long time follower, first time commenter. I've started my own POD journey starting from your videos. So first of all, thanks for everything you've done. Secondly is redbubble really worth pursuing especially considering the latest updates? The sales I've made on redbubble are paltry compared to commission I get from places like etsy. They are taking a major chunk of the sales and leaving very little behind for me. I'm almost at the point of abandoning/deleting my shop on redubble. For context, my most recent sale was for 40 USD canvas print and a 5 USD greeting card out of which my share was 5.89$ and 0.70$ respectively. I get more from etsy and printify.

Great question. Technically you can formally copyright or trademark your design but it’s about $500 each last I did it, and it doesn’t really help. The name of the game is reporting the duplicates when they show up. And they will keep showing up.. it’s just the nature of the business. By having it formally protected, you just have more power if you were to go to court to sue them for not taking it down or lost profit.

I think one of the main things to learn when trying out print on demand is discipline, perseverance and delayed gratification (something to note of since many of the things comes fast). If you have these things then you have a good advantage and chance of succeeding in this space. It can actually take months and years to be successful but with the right guidance you are able to cut down that time provided you keep going and not quit. More blessings to your future success!

I got suspended from RB within one week of opening new account without any reason and that was demotivating for me.. I already had uploaded 40 designs and i made sure that all designs and titles were free of trademark and no copyright fringement too..
@GregGottfried
@GregGottfried Жыл бұрын
It could be your location. I've heard this from a few people over the years that within the first couple days the account gets suspended with no reason, and the best guess is that they aren't accepting new sellers from a certain location due to payment processing. It's not ideal, and frustrating, but at least you know within a couple days not to spend more time there. Plenty of sales to be had on the other sites.

@@GregGottfried Redbubble is suspending accounts all over the place lately, there is no rhyme or reason to it. People that have had accounts for years have had their accounts suspended for no reason, me including. I think they tweaked their algorithm and it is causing chaos for everyone, very frustrating.

I looked into using mid journey for Print on demand and one of the biggest problems I found is theirs no way to check for copyright on photos. The only way I could find is to put the image into Google search by image and see if anything very similar pops up. Not a great or full proof way to check copyright on images but the only way we have to right now.

I'm a fan of Placeit for my designing. They are not AI created, so I trust the copyright/trademark whereas AI generated graphics are getting into trouble on that front (especially when selling with print on demand). It's an older video but it goes pretty in depth in how I use Placeit here if you're interested: kzbin.info/www/bejne/lZq0n4KJl7KnmZo

hi is it possible to choose your own selling price for the POD items on these stores..... or is the fixed price by the stores ?
@GregGottfried
@GregGottfried 11 ай бұрын
In regards to setting the price, on Teepublic the price is set for you (so they can run sales and promotions). However, on all the other sites we are able to set our own prices and therefore determine how big our profit margin is per item.

@GregGottfried so maybe doing a "limited edition" of only 1000 shirts may be inticing to certain niches which you could then have a higher price point?

Hi Greg, I am looking to start my business in print on demand for the first time now. I have no sale, and have little or no money. I love drawing and coloring or painting as my passion. I am thinking to apply my artworks on some merchant items to sell. From your opinions, you mentioned three good print on demand websites for free. Is it better to upload artworks to all three websites? I am looking forward to hearing your solution. Cheers!

Redbubble cancelled my account before my shop even went live. I had done ALL my due diligence. The design was my own, I didn't spam tags etc. I have since heard from a lot of people who experienced the same treatment... recently they have effectively halved commission. Not terribly promising for the complete newbie.
@GregGottfried
@GregGottfried Жыл бұрын
I agree that’s not promising at all. I’ve heard of RedBubble closing accounts within a couple hours or days of opening and the speculation out there is because of the seller location. It’s not clear why yet, but that’s the info I have. At least it’s done before you started and not weeks later when you’ve already invested hours of work. I’d focus on Teepublic and Amazon Merch on Demand instead. I hope that gives you some peace of mind!

I can say simply Print On Demand now is random you can take your application will be accepted and you will sell (even if the design sucks, made by AI or even you stole it), as the opposite you can be a cool designer, but let's say on the Teepublic you relegated to an apprentice.
