Hey I should mention when I say "didn't do research the way I wanted to" I mean specifically the way Overly Sarcastic Productions outlines it in their video on doing research. I really like that method. What I do is say things I already know are true and then do research after I've recorded it. When I find something I've said is wrong I re-record with that new info. I think it works but probably not the best method.

If you want input from an author (and uhh some white dude): You can't control what people do with your characters. They will do things with them, make art, talk about them in ways you think are "wrong". I say what I say, try and get MY idea out there, the rest is whatever people want to make it out to be. I can't control how they'll take it and maybe there's some truth in what they think; I think it depends on what's being said. But I don't think anyone should *impose* their ideas onto others. If you identify with piccolo because he exhibits what you believe to be black traits, then that's awesome. But don't tell me I'm wrong because I take him to exhibit white traits (this is just an example). Piccolo is an alien. Actually he's not even an alien, he's a cartoon made by Toriyama. He wasn't thinking about "black coding" back in the 90s that wasn't even a word. So people think he's black (or whatever!), that's awesome. As an author that's such an amazing feeling, to hear someone relate to a character we made. So yeah tl;dr it's fine. Don't project your *opinion* on others.

If the character is black coded, they are black, even if they have green skin. That’s why they call it head cannon😂
