What I've seen, time and time again, is many of the kids that dominate early can't deal with the adversity once it evens out and the other kids catch up. They get frustrated and either wash out or their game goes to hell.

Interestingly there is a thing called bio-banding where kids are grouped by developmental stages vs chronological age. I heard about this in European soccer (I think) to prevent kids who could be late bloomers from either quitting or being pushed out because they were “behind” early on.

@@v4v819What is dangerous about it? You have kids who are physically similar competing as opposed to a 140 lb 14 year old blowing up the 80 lb kid who hasn’t grown yet. Actually safer.

It is NEVER an advantage to be a late bloomer! They develop early they get confidence and everything handed to them. They hit the wall...then they eat some humility and start to actually try and become great again. Yes sorry late bloomers are always screwed minus extreme outliers
