Is Raiding Required for M+?

So I have always been a M+ player. Raided back in the day and never really cared for it. However when blizzard did the new upgrade system with gear in Season 2 AND seeing the fights on the PTR, it peaked my interest into the raid scene. Before I looked at it as if I am doing normal/heroic raid, the M+ gear I get from the vault is going to much much stronger than raid gear. The guild I run raids with is decent, we clear normal and are progging on the final boss on heroic right now. Raids do have some very unique trinkets and getting tier set bonus is def alot easier as well.

Maybe with the current system raiding mythic may actually be detrimental for all people who are not lucky to be able to spend their whole day on WoW. Attempting to clear mythic in a top 20-1000 guild may actually eat away at much of your practice time for M+ with very limited gear benefits in return. And much of M+ (currently even more than historically) is good play around mechanics and good routing. If anything, the added stamina on 489 mythic pieces and the additional chance to get avoidance may be interesting, since timers are not the main issue.

the more important question is why m+ is required for raiding, blizz should really split both like they did with pvp rewards in SL We are less than 2 months into the season and I'm already pretty much forcing myself to run 4 keys week because I don't want to be benched

No. No they shouldn’t. Sorry your guild is doing that to you and it’s honestly damn weird at this point because you should have the gear at this point to just raid-log. In general though both feeding into each other helps a lot with gearing of the entire group since it lets try hards pass to more casual players.

@@James_Johnson79 how many CE guilds allow their raiders to do zero m+?? m+ being mandatory is not weird, its a norm (and a problem) and even now no, i dont have gear to just raid-log, i dont have 8 sockets im missing plenty of drops from m+ vault if i stop doing m+ now im getting 0 vaults till we kill fyrak because we are already extending Even if my guild doesn't ask me to keep doing m+ (which would be weird) it feels like shit knowing that you are letting your team down and falling behind in gear and no serious guild is going to recruit someone who doesn't gear in keys at the start of the season

@@Hofimaniac 100% I would rather gear in raid for raid than do m+ Raid loot would need to be adjusted if m+ wouldn't help in raid but this is 100% preferable over running keys for me

@@wapniak666 at two months in if you’re failing bosses by such a small dps amount that you getting 5 more gems or a BiS trinket at max heroic or mythic level will net you the kill, then you don’t need those. We aren’t even talking cutting edge here. We are talking your mania that you feel trapped. That you NEED these items or the group will fail. That if you can’t achieve those that your spot on the roster is at stake. Anyway, m+ being mandatory at the start of a raid tier is fine because it’s also not a burden. People are excited to play and play with friends again and the goals are easy with very strong rewards. At two months in though, trying to get an extra 6 item levels by snagging a myth level mirror from the vault? That’s not mandatory. Especially since you’re already clearing at least 5 heroic bosses and should be managing two mythic bosses if you’re CE at this point. Which means you’ve got 3 vault slots so you’re guaranteed at least one socket each week. There is very little reason for you to be in m+ right now and if there is one specific item you should be targeting then your guild is at an item level and io score that you can do a stack and just crush 18s to get that item queuing up for random keys.

Is raiding required for M+? No in most cases. (Very early season perhaps an exception) Is M+ required for raiding? Yes in most cases. (Until youre max upgraded which can take many players months)

It's more about is raiding mythic required? Do you have to commit yourself to a team that clears the raid in mythic and you can aim to be fully bis by the end of the season? The answer is no, you don't need a guild/raid team. Raid is important because some trinkets and pieces of gear are so good that the alternatives in mythic + don't compete at least when you go really high.

@@Ieonblack I think a lot of heroic guilds even go a few bosses into mythic too. I don’t push high keys so I really don’t need anything from raids for my stuff cslling at 20.

I used to bench myself in the first Shadowlands raid because I was in complete PVP blues and didn't wanna do the Shadowlands dungeons. I basically just got left behind by my guild. I stopped raiding Heroic completely after that, only normal pugs or LFR. Being left behind by your guild is the problem, not M+ existing, don't get that twisted.

Nope, its entitlement. You feel like they should bring you along even though all you did was pvp. Why would they bring you when they bring another guy that does as much if not more dmg than you and does content with the guild. You said yourself you dont wanna do dungeons.

Raiding is dead - because gear is a joke to get via m+ (repeatable also) less and less people are bothering to do it. Why is the EASIER CONTENT being rewarded with the same or even better gear lmao. An 18 this season is easier than Heroic Fyrakk even Heroic Smolderon yet one awards hero gear and one gives a myth vault slot. They started off on the right idea making higher than 15's required for gear, but it honestly needs to be 25's for myth track vault. Less people involved naturally makes the content easier. Unless they start stacking raid with completely busted stuff or change the balance between m+ and raid - raiding will be on its complete last legs within 3 years.
