I am a “Boomer” and it seemed most families attended church when I was growing up. Once my mother started to work, it seemed my father and mother decided to “sleep in” more on Sundays. Maybe the increasing hectic life style ( both parents working, raising active teenagers on the go, and less “social pressure”) eventually minimized our family involvement with our particular church; however, I personally feel the first ten years of my life attending church and being in a close neighborhood with the same values did effect my adulthood in becoming a decent human being. ( But my denomination was not so “judgmental” or fanatic as others). Unfortunately today when people see these huge evangelical mega churches or politicians trying to force their beliefs by using their own interpretation of the Bible upon us or so called “Christians” not realizing there is a separation between church and state- that becomes a huge turn off to many Americans, especially to the young generations. I have no idea why these fake Christians love to connect the American flag and owning a gun to the Bible….and why Americans don’t realize there are other people living in the USA that are not necessarily Christians but Hindu, Buddhists or Muslims. Any religious institution can be an added contribution to society as long as it evolves to a better understanding towards mankind.

Religion isn't dying in America. Churches are dying in America. People still love God, but churches have become, not about love, but about hate. Organized religion hates anyone who disagrees with them or dares to disagree as a member. People are more educated and they understand that the Bible was written by people hundreds of years after Christ and the disciples walked the earth. The Bible is a guide, not the direct word of God. Stories carried a message people could relate to in that time. Today, the right wing holds tight to the literal interpretation of the Bible, not for the true word of God, but as a means to hold onto power. Male, white power. To keep women and other races as a second class. Women should obey their husband's. This literal interpretation to obey, rather than work with their husband's is written by men long ago who used women and other races as currency. Dowries, slaves, all human currency. Even banning abortion is a way to control women. Someone else is controlling their body. The perversion of religion into a control tool by organized religion has become obvious to the more educated people and they are turning their backs on it. They are not turning their backs on God. You need to compare the drop in those who don't participate in organized religion vs those who don't believe in God. I think you will see a big difference.

The bible is written thousands of years ago based on outdated knowledge and beliefs and had so many mistakes that science now easily explain. For example, the bible due to outdated knowledge does not know every star is a sun and our universe is bigger than anything or anyone’s imagination, including the bible. Sooner or later religion will be just a minority. We don’t need religion to have good people. That is just progress. I've heard from distant family members that they fear the end is near because the younger generations of today are turning from their brought up belief in a God. That is just an innate fear of dropping a descended heirloom in my opinion, but, it is the fact that most people in their 30's and younger are coming to an understanding that religion in and of itself lacks relevance in today's society, alongside a belief in a supernatural deity. Granted, there are those whom I have spoken to who maintain a belief in a higher power, but it doesn't pertain to any scriptural deity. Myself, and many of my cousins, are simply atheists, including my paternal great uncle who is in his mid 70's. I have work friends who, they and I, have had discussions on the topic of religion, and very few have claimed they just don't know and pay no mind to the idea because its of such low importance to them. So, really, like I said before, the belief in religion and a God, is a dying out concept that as a younger generation are rejecting, simply because it lacks importance and relevance in todays modern society and like any of humanities myths and ideologies, they, like anything else, disappear.

Belief is most of the time respectable: we all more or less believe in something (but not necessarily in God), and hopefully most of us have some moral sense linked to what we believe in. Religions are man-made organizations created to control believers and their lives, usually at these religions' own profit. Though I'm an atheist, I do respect religious believers, and they're free to practice their religion as long as they're not fanatics, but I'll never have any trust for any religion. Slavery in the south was supported by the teachings of the Old Testament and was never corrected by Jesus in the New Testament eg. the Apostle Paul’s Epistle to the Ephesians, VI, 5-7: “Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ; not with eye-service, as men-pleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart; with good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men: knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free.” (Paul repeated himself, almost word for word, in the third chapter of his Epistle to the Colossians.) So, I would say we are moving more in the direction of human decency by minorities insisting that they be treated with respect and dignity, something that is being resisted by the Christian right.

Luke 18:8 "Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that "man of sin" be revealed, the "son of perdition;" 2 Thessalonians 2:3

Religions only last a few hundreds to a few thousands years nothing new more gods will be created until 1 reigns.....
Humanity pre dates the invention of paper, ink, or literacy. There were humans here on Earth 100,000 years prior to the invention of the first language, Sanskrit, which itself predates the invention of Judasim/ Christianity/ Islam// Hinduism, ect by thousands of years. Humanity was here before the invetion of paper or books, humanity was here before the invetion of the bible, koran, torah, ect.

Very good point. There are too many holes in the Bible stories. Why doesn't God just show himself to us? No one can give a reason for that that actually sounds logical.

Religion in America will continued to decline and more than one fifth of its country has no religion and you will never stop the decline of religion in America. We are not going back to the 1950s. We got the next generation of people leaving religion and they are the ones will bring change around the world not the older ones.America will become more atheistic as the uk in 2050. its time for us that we no longer believe in a world of fairy tales. the age of reason science and mortality is here

How do You go to a Church that Preaches Faith but fails to display that faith the first time it is tested on the World Stage? How do You go to a Church that took 3 times its Monthly Salary each month from the Federal Government to stay closed for 18 months and do the Will of Man instead of the Will of GOD? Does Psalm 91 only apply to Old Testiment Believers? Or does it apply to New Testiment Believers as well? And if it does why did American Churches take the 30 pieces of Silver to betray Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and depend on the Government instead of GOD? Is this the FAITH of AMERICAN CHURCHES? Psalm 91 Expressly speaks to Plagues and Pandemics! But hey we can all Surely see Blantantly how MOST American Churches FAILED this TEST of Faith and how much EVIL Progressed while the Church was shut down! Those Churches that did not take the 30 Pieces of Silver and stayed Open are being BLESSED BY GOD HIMSELF! Most American Churches Failed this Test of Faith! That is why Attendence is Down! Psalm 91 1 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.[a] 2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” 3 Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence. (Pandemic) 4 He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. 5 You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, 6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, (Pandemic) nor the plague that destroys at midday. (Pandemic) 7 A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you. 8 You will only observe with your eyes and see the punishment of the wicked. 9 If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,” and you make the Most High your dwelling, 10 no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent. 11 For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; 12 they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. 13 You will tread on the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent. 14 “Because he[b] loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. 15 He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. 16 With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.”
