@@devereauxadams9718 nope. Not unless you enjoy indentured servitude. You can’t build anything real in a rental. Uber and Lyft want you to rent. That should say it all right there. Why you ask? If you rent, you have no choice but to drive excessive hours for whatever they want to pay you. You are the perfect little servant to help them buy a fleet of AVs to replace you.

Here's the gist of the video: Renting a car with Uber or Lyft can be a viable option if you need a vehicle and want to make some extra money, but it's not a lucrative venture. The video creator rented a car through Uber for $375 a week, which included full insurance and unlimited miles. They drove for 5 days, earning a total of $1,125, but after factoring in fuel costs, they made around $550. They note that renting a car is a "worry-free" option, but it may not be the best choice if you're looking to make a significant profit or drive full-time. Additionally, they mention that Lyft's rental option is cheaper, but it comes with mileage limitations and monitoring of driving habits. Overall, it's essential to weigh the costs and benefits before deciding to rent a car for ride-sharing purposes.

Down side of Uber rental through Hurtz... So, I rented a Trax Chevy. It broke down after four hours. They told me to take it to Pep Boys and they would pay for it, but I would have to take it to get it fixed. Pep Boys told me it would be four days. I went back to the Hertz office, they said I would have to pay for the vehicle that was being fixed in the shop for four days. I told him that was ridiculous I was renting a vehicle that I could not drive. He agreed, so they let me change out the vehicles for a Tesla, great. The Tesla was hit by a drunk driver and I could not use it. It took me a MONTH to get my money back from Hertz. They were terrible. Rude, and every day they tried to just wait me out. I will never use Hertz again.
@ryanhablitzel9 ай бұрын
That’s wild! Sounds very frustrating. Hurtz also asked me to take the car to pep boys for an oil change once it reaches a certain mileage. An unnecessary hassle. I also found the hertz representatives unhelpful and disinterested. Sounds like you had a terrible experience!

You hit it with your last words on this video, and it's what I say to people who ask me about, it depends on your situation, if you pay rent and have kids, this may not be the option for you, for me I don't have that, I stay with my mom, don't pay rent, just pay bills, and whatever the house needs working on, I figured in a few years I can sit on a lot of money, renting a Tesla through Uber is basically a luxury apartment in terms of monthly payments, if you pay housing rent, and pay for a Tesla rental , you may not be coming out on top at the end, thats why i consider the Tesla rental option is good for kids coming out of high school going in to college, that still stays with their parents, you work hard and save that money, so by the time you graduate and get your career going , youre already sitting on some money, given you understand that and work and not be lazy
@ryanhablitzel Жыл бұрын
In certain situations this rental option is great! For example, if I need to rent a car for a week or more and want to find a way to have it pay for itself… you can do that. And make some extra cash on the side.

$1,500+/mth is bananas for a basic 4yr old car that you'll never own.. even IF they paid the gas etc.. This is strictly for people who have completely screwed up their credit and have no other choice.. That's literally more than most people's rent/mortgage.

Your rental cost is on the Comfort selection right? So it’s a tad more from the compact/midsize. The reason I’m saying is. I have a ‘19 Yukon. Been doing U/L for couple of months now. Make decent money but what eats me is fuel mileage. And obviously the wear and tear on my personal vehicle. So I was thinking on renting. Now I know by renting. I lose the advantage in running for one of the platforms. And also if I rent just a compact/midsize vehicle. I lose most of all my classifications. But I’ve watching on what rides I’ve been getting these past few months. I would say 95% of all my rides have been under UberX and Lyft. So does it really benefit me to pay more to rent a comfort vehicle over a compact/midsize one? I don’t think so. So I’m going to look into renting a compact car under Uber/Hertz’s. For the weeks runs. Then on Friday Nights. Use my Yukon to use both apps. Because really, those are the times I get XL rides. And so on. But anyways. Great stuff. Thx for sharing.
@ryanhablitzel Жыл бұрын
A ‘19 a Yukon would be hard to be profitable unless you are doing Lux black XL. If you rent a car to drive Uber/Lyft with, I wouldn’t bother putting any miles in your Yukon and drive the rental like crazy instead. Rentals have unlimited miles!

Don’t rent. It’s not worth it. You will drive 6-7 days a week. 2 of those days will cover the car (if it’s Comfort). You will also become part of the problem. Broke asses without a primary job, driving all hours and days, accepting garbage fares because you are desperate, living to work only, and driving down the fares for real drivers. My solid advice to everyone: get a job, own a car, drive part time and be picky as hell with the rides you accept. Make sure the money per mile and hour all make sense. More than $1.25 per mile and all trips must be $30+ per hour. Decline 80% and drive when it’s busy, you will earn extra money and pay your car off very early while minimizing the miles you rack up. Anything less and you are putting nothing more than the value of your car in the bank.
@ryanhablitzel Жыл бұрын
The rates keep getting worse with Uber and Lyft. I got a Lyft Extra Comfort ride request for 100 miles at .68 cents per mile the other day. Ridiculous. I only accept rides over $1 per mile.
@MrHayes-cb7hp Жыл бұрын
@@ryanhablitzelToo many drivers lose patience. Often times I find declining ride after ride seems like an eternity but in actuality it’s only been 2-5 minutes when in a busy area. If all drivers do the same Uber has no choice but to increase the fare. I’ve been in situations where all drivers in the area are saying no and the fares go up. I’ve also seen Uber/ Lyft double and triple down on the crap fares until someone breaks. Just the other day I was one of 20 drivers in the airport queue, the same rides came over and over, all drivers were declining because it surged to $5.75 within 2 minutes. I ended up with an 8 mile comfort trip for $27.75. It does work if everyone plays the game.

Often there is someone who will take the cheap fares when there are too many drivers in the pool. I drive Lyft Black and Uber Premier mostly now, but when things are really slow, I take comfort or even Uber X rides because it’s that or nothing sometimes.
