I had just started using Posh 2-3 weeks ago and made a few purchases and was really enjoying shopping on there. I even made a closet and listed a few things. Today I made an offer on an item that wasn’t low ball but was medium at best. When doing so I noticed the “buyer protection fee” which is like the “inflation reduction act” plus a “just because” fee based on the purchase price and then shipping. It came to something like $20 over their counter offer. I was shocked. I have a problem with this big time. It’s on the level of Mercedes and BMW trying to charge subscription fees for heated seats. IT’S INSULTING! Just the whole concept of being required to purchase the ability to purchase something is alien to American culture I don’t know how they think this will fly. After seeing what I would have had to pay on the item I made an offer on I immediately emptied my closet and deleted my account. I’ll never buy from Posh again as long as they want to charge me to make a purchase. LMAO the whole thing is insanity. Fees irritate me but flat out being charged to have the privilege to make a purchase? That’s beyond the pale and completely unacceptable, insulting, and so incredibly greedy I find it repulsive. I don’t see how this will be anything but a detriment to sellers.

Why the heck would anyone pay fees to purchase used clothing items...resellers who sell second hand bread & butter brands are going to feel this. Yeah let me buy this used Talbots shirt for $20 and pay fees and shipping on top of it.

resellers don't just sell used clothing, we also sell NWT stuff. and lots sell NWT stuff from pallets They purchased in bulk (not my case)

The amount more that ppl are being charged compared to how much more we will make on an item that is 15-25 is not good. On a 15-dollar item you make less than the original 20 percent, but buyer pays more. Who is going to want to pay more in fees shipping tax than the item is priced at? You are getting more money at a 14-dollar sale than a 15-dollar sale. I do not intend on sending out any 15 dollar offers. If I wanted to send a 15 dollar on before now, I would send 14. I will get more money, and the buyer will pay less because they will only have the one dollar not the 2 dollars plus percentage fees. Same goes with the 50-dollar price point. You are better off offering 49 dollars over 50. This is more confusing and only enough more profit on higher priced items to be able to offset it for customers.

@@re-wear-itboutique173 it’s a deal breaker for me. I buy purses between 100-500. This new fee structure is a bridge too far. I’ll be going to eBay where I don’t have to do ma5h to figure out what my fee will be before I buy it. Did you see they are adding sales tax in and adding that to the total price and then applying the fee structure. As a buyer..not loving it.
@moniqueflores43532 ай бұрын
All the changes stink for the buyer. Immensely. I only buy on eBay now mainly because I buy luxury goods and the price skyrockets on Posh and Mercari due to buyer fees.

I’m with you on this! I Buy preloved purses it is going to kill me on Posh.

Most of us buyers are only finding out about the fees when we check out. We are all beginning to buy for Christmas…but more expensive items I’ll get from eBay where I can know before I check out what I’ll be paying. And it’s notv5% it’s 6%.

You are correct in what you are saying because things change and you have to change your business model or update it because if not you will quit or go out of business.

I made an offer for tennis shoes on poshmark this morning. I was appalled to see the poshmark fees charged to me as a buyer. It really gave me pause. I still made an offer, but it was much less than I originally planned.

I have noticed a difference in the past few days on posh. I'm disappointed in their approach to this. What a lie from posh to say its more transparent and simpler. I ended up doubling my OTL to hopefully help entice buyers. So giving greater discounts to help off set their fees doesnt really help me... and I'm not seeing a ton of action from sending greater discounts. However, i have had a few higher priced sales and its nice to see higher earnings for sure. When its a smaller sale its actually not much lower in fees. And i mean atleast they are giving posh ambassadors the shipping discount on them. I know we have to let it play out to see, but i think its a move in the wrong direction. I have 6k active listings and will continue to list, but will work on crosslisting more to ebay (which i hate lol). I only have 75 listing there. Ha. Thats how much i loathe it 😂

Mercari has no customer service. I got scammed and I've had to file a BBB report against them. I loved the 0 fees but sales dropped drastically for me then the combination of no seller support is a no go for me. I'm taking all of my stuff down. It's not worth it.

I paid $13.23 on buyer protection fees on Poshmark on a $73 plus $5.95 because the seller is an ambassador and this lower shipping rate is only until December! eBay is easier for me to sell.
@amylyons45292 ай бұрын
I totally agree with your sentiment. One small correction: The buyer isn't paying 5%. They're paying 6% (5.99) plus $1, $2 or $3.
@IisaStevens2 ай бұрын
@@amylyons4529 yes I didn’t realize that. I tried ordering something so I could see exactly how the buyer fees break down. It was higher than I expected. My sales are still strong but I do see it deterring some buyers.

The shipping can be modified by sellers firstly. Sellers can also drop their prices if they are so afraid.

Me too. My sales on Merc have been amazing too. I can't explain it. I hope EB does the same and eliminates seller fees. I too have a hard time getting buyers, except for auctions. EB is working off an OLD template from years ago when they first started.

As a buyer, I prefer Postmark because it's priority shipping! If I'm going to pay more anyway then I'd rather get it faster!
@vickykitty68582 ай бұрын
The problem is they need to be attracting more buyers. The company prospectus that they released before they sold said that continuing to attract buyers would be an issue because of their high shipping fees. They also said the profit off those fees the majority of the time.
@ginamarie05202 ай бұрын
I would love to lower prices to accommodate buyer fees but i am also paying more for items than in past. Also, i heard USPS is raising priority mail from Nov to Jan so not sure if that will effect shipping costs on Poshmark.
@mwb70292 ай бұрын
Lisa- Glad you told us that, NOW, Poshmark is adding buyer fees. I stopped buying on Mercari after a horrible experience and a weird Buyer Fee. I was in a hurry and found an item that I was looking for. It was a nightmare to send back. Then they kept junk emailing me. I blocked them. My last Poshmark purchase was last month. Not shopping there, either. There is something very perverse about charging Buyer Fees; I don't trust the Business/website anymore. I have to pay for my State TAX, a Shipping Fee, and now a Buyer FEE? You must be joking. I think your sales picked up because Xmas is coming. Besides, those websites tend to have fakes, anyway.

Have to wonder if Poshmark "seller" making excuses for them is concerned about the shares in the company they might own more than anything, or what?
