I love the Belmonts. They've got everything they need to be a good character, Minus a good recovery. Great frame data, Great range, Lots of utility and combo potential, edge guarding potential, If they get you in the corner they can cover air ground and ledge with attacks and projectiles. They're all about proper spacing and utilizing the tools your character is provided to their optimal ability and yes, that includes camping and spamming. But that isn't all a Belmont has to resort too in order to win a fight. They can pay patiently and poke you down and get you high percent then you finish with any number of their whip attacks.

I think Belmont's advantage state is top tier but the disadvantage state is literally unplayable. The more you let Belmont play their game the stronger the character looks and feels but once you start making Belmont play Super Smash Brothers for the Nintendo Switch they start to look really bad really quickly. They are a character that really needs to be respected, moreso than their contemporary low tiers and anybody that sleeps on them or calls them lowtier trash are about to log in to Twitter and start complaining about all the gimmicky low tiers ruining the game.

It's kind of funny because once pgstats released that chart of characters who wins/lose and how often they are picked I decided to look into Belmont out of curiosity and because I started getting addicted to getting the whole roster into Elite Smash instead of trying to improve with my main like I should be doing lol. www.pgstats.com/articles/who-is-picked-and-used-deep-in-brackets-super-smash-bros-ultimate-character-analysis I originally thought he was a spammy projectile user because every Belmont I've ever faced or even seen just threw out projectiles for seemingly no reason, and is pretty much a free win since I know how to deal with projectiles. I didn't think about Belmonts much before I was focused on other characters. Then I decided to go look at some Belmont guides, and then this one guy mentioned that the projectiles are actually really bad if used that way and they are pretty OP when you use them to cover your approach. So when I started seeing Dom play, I was like "where were you earlier in Ultimate!?". Belmonts feel like a reverse Sephiroth (who has been my main since he came out) because they can angle their fair/bair but not their ftilt, but exchange recovery for projectiles that cover them as they go in. I gotta say, when you start using Belmont more aggressive, he starts getting so much more effective and stylish that it shocks me that more Belmonts don't do this because I feel like it'd be more fun for everyone. Also some characters are so fast that you never really have time to throw out projectiles unless they hesitate. Roy vs Belmont is so incredibly intense for example since he's always going to be on you, or just outside of your range.

The Belmonts are mid tier at best. The thing is...Dom is Belmont specialist and a FANTASTIC player at that. He beat shinymark's pikachu whom many believe is as good as ESAM'S. Pikachu is one of the worst matches for the belmont btw. I think if they ever buff the belmont projectiles or recovery, they can be high tier, easily, but they won't. They rather buff sonic, terry or those stupid characters.
