As someone who has read the hobbit and LoTR books (not at all a lore genius by any means), and someone who absolutely loves the movies, I enjoyed the first 3 episodes of season 2. Much more engaging than season 1 imo. It’s entertaining for what it is, and if nothing else the special effects rock, the orcs look as freaky as they should, and the dwarves are always fun to watch.

I gotta say i like the show for what it is. Its just the little things that bring it down for me. Like the numenoreans are certified brain damaged humans, just the dumbest people to ever exist. And the Theo kid is absolutely unbearable. I get that is kind of the point but my god i just wanna give that kid a swirly. I couldnt care less about a character in a show. But hey overall its good entertainment and worth the watch

Feel like I would have enjoyed the show more if I didn't binge Nerd of the Rings content before season 1. After diving deep into the lore the show was a colossal letdown. Especially everything surrounding Numenor. These dudes are supposed to be 8 foot tall ultimate warriors and the show makes them almost completely opposite. Sad.

There is only so much they can do with the rights that they have. But like ROP has been pretty great. Like they drop A TON of little lore tidbits. The way sauron has been written is great. I think there is a huge group of people that look at the peter jackson adaptations as Tolkien canon, but Jackson's movies are just as guilty of changes to Tolkien as ROP is. Honestly, maybe more guilty.
