Rob Dillingham's Summer League performance has sparked intense debate over whether he deserves the hype surrounding him. A detailed play-by-play breakdown reveals both flashes of brilliance and areas needing improvement. His agility and scoring ability are undeniable, often dazzling with quick crossovers and sharp shooting. However, inconsistency in decision-making and defensive lapses have raised questions about his readiness for higher levels of competition. While his potential is evident, whether he lives up to the hype will depend on how he refines his game and addresses these developmental areas moving forward.

He'll be replacing Jordan McLaughlin and Monte Morris in the lineup and they didnt really play much last season except to spell. Although they were positive contributors for the wolves Rob Dillingham has more potential. I hope he learns fast.

Spade to spade, he’s only 19. Nobody in Minnesota is saying he should be the starting PG for the wolves. This is also G league, take it with a grain of salt. I think he would eventually fit it despite his size. Mike Conley would be a great mentor and is also a small guard like Rob. If Mike Conley can fit with the wolves, I’m sure 3-4 years down the line Rob can as well.

@@HoopsIQgo and analyze how many of Steph Curry's shots are good shots, we have to let Dillingham have a long leash or he will not make it because we're going to cancel him before he even has a chance to start, it sucks... I don't get this, he will be a prolific scorer if we just let him be..

The fg% was ass but we all know rob can score. I imagine that wil ltranslate fine to the nba level, eventually. Rookie year will probably be very inefficent. But to me, what he showed in summer league more than made up for a few off nights, the playmaking is legit. The defensive effort was there (obviosly hes never going to be a good defender, but the effort was there.) I think he is in the perfect spot to grow as a player, if he was thrown to the fire on a tanking team I worry his first year struggles to score would be exasterbated and lead to Bust allegations, but on Minny I think his expected role will be small enough, and his play making good enough to be a very solid backup pointguard this year, and grow into Conleys successor going forward. The only real question is his finishing against nba size, I dont have any worry in the slightest about his jump shooting translating. But will he be able to be the slashing acrobatic finisher he was in college at his size against Nba size? That does concern me a little for sure.

He's so fast, he just needs to learn to draw contact so he can get to the free-throw line..

I somewhat worry about the shot just because it’s a further line, but I believe the OTE line was the same as the NBA and he shot well in that league. It’s hard to say how well his iso scoring will translate due to defenders being bigger with more muscle mass. Passing is more difficult with regular NBA teams, there will have to be an adjustment period on that as well. We see he has the skill and ability to be great, it’s just about him building good habits early and becoming more of an IQ than ability guy. Also remember, the league is aging. Dame, Steph, and others will be out of the league soon. His competition will completely fall off in the next couple of years. He will gain the experience, and have a good chance at really being one of the best. This early part of his career is important though. He’s on a playoff team from Day 1. I think he’ll be fine. Well above average at the very least.

remember this is Summer League and the biggest thing Dilly did so far is hes assuming hes in rotation so he is trying to play team ball, whereas Shannon is 23 fully developed and just able to exert his game on people same with Minot and some of those guys who are more desperate. I saw enough from Dilly that I think if hes on a team where everyone is playing their roles hes going to be able to fit

I’m not eating them based on overall skill. It’s HoopsIQ. Do they know how to play the game at a high level mentally. Bronny does, but most people don’t get it. They just want him to break ankles and score 40

Shooting would be concerning if he didn't just have a great a great shooting season at Kentucky. Where he shot well in a variety of ways. Pull ups, spot ups, and off movement. Defense and finishing are probably always gonna be a problem because of his size. The big thing is, he's flashing he can be a playmaker. Which he needed to if he is gonna be anything more than a 6th man, microwave scorer.

@HoopsIQ 36th pick for the Detroit Pistons, If you looked at the pass 3 games. His shot is there, passing ability is there for secondary playmaking, rebounding, defensive IQ, offball movement as well. Decision making is up there as well. The decision making is probably his best trait.
