Is Rogier really Ranni? - Elden Ring Lore

Ranni, the moon princess. Demi God, Empyrean and one of the most popular character in all of Elden Ring. She is the daughter of Queen Rennala and Radagon.
She sets us on a quest to challenge the very Outer God that has guided the world through Marika, Radagon and the Erd Trees. After having in her life been responsible for the death of Godwyn.
With all of that, and conspirecy she has been capable of, is it possible she was controlling Rogier. The man who set us to the task of finding her to begin with?

He's certainly not working with Ranni, but is a Champion of Fia, the death bed companion looking to mend the rune of death that Queen Marika removed from the elden ring at the start of her rule. The animation played for his death is the same used for Death blight status effect which creates these sort of thorny branches, this effect is most commonly given by Basilisks. The same things can be seen on D once Fia has gotten you to deliver him the knife. D's corpse has all the same flies and thorny branch things as Rogier's. Oh and The giant weird ass face is actually the other Demi-god slain on the night of the black knives, Godwyn the golden. Ranni orchestrated the assassination of herself and Godwyn, however they both only died half a death, Ranni being able to leave her emperian body and take that of this doll, Godwyn however seems trapped in his own deformed corpse, his soul dying but not his flesh- which is now creepy af looking. Rogier is looking for the Rune of death, he only becomes aware of Ranni's connection upon studying the black knife print. Because Ranni used the stollen rune of death to enchant the black knives weapons, Rogier is able to deduce she'd be the only demigod able to preform this feat, thereafter sending you as a spy to get close to her original body, which has Half of the Cursemark of death, only when Godwyns and Rannis halves of this curse marks are brought together can Fia complete the Mending rune of death, which when used on Radagon ushers in th eage of Dusk, and reintroduces true Death which was originally removed by Marika. It's my speculation that this ending would kill Ranni and Godwyn freeing the Prince of death!

What you said is right. I still think the Rogier we met was the already dead one. Also worth noting when you fight Fia's champions you see more of the Demigod of Death (Godwyn). He was buried at the base of the Erdtree and corrupted it

I find it more likely (from conversation and his interests) that Rogier is an intellectual and aside from spells, wants to learn about the world. His curiosity got the best of him, and now he wants to understand his situation before he dies.

I can 100% see that. Though he may have been sent on that trail to investigate. Considering we first see Ranni as Renna.

The reason for the similarities in Ranni and Rogier is philosophical, it's about duality. Elden Ring toys with duality A LOT. Rogier follows his path from the opposite end of the same path that Ranni follows. They're walking in opposite directions, and in this way they reflect each other. Ranni falls asleep in order to regain her vitality, while Rogier goes to "sleep" as he's losing his vitality. Ranni comes back to life, Rogier faces death.

That is very accurate. After diving into the lore more, I am sure this theory is wrong. As a note, not only do they cover duality, they also usually have union. Beings fusing ether by force or by choice.

While I think that connection is doubtful, the fact that they both go to sleep at the same time is interesting. I have well over 1k hours in this game and never realized that o.O

After more gameplay, I have noticed several flaws with my idea. It is pretty much only "He goes to sleep, when she does"

Rogier before Stormveil was real. After Deathblight, he was slowly turning into puppet. Fia's champions are considered puppets because they are blue spirits. Rogier we fought before meeting Fia in Deeproot Depths was a complete puppet.

It would be interesting to know exactly which enemy has the death animation that Rogier has in front of Godwyn's mask in Stormveil.

That is a good mystery. If I had to guess Fia or Ranni (through Blaidd). Though with no evidence to support this

I think Ranni HIDING as a literall doll from your conversation, as well as the whole puppet theme ( Seluvis stealing bodies, Ranni using bodies like sleeves) makes this at least plausible. In doll form, she seems to be more talkative showing her manipulative and darker side, showing she is even puppeteering the player in a different sense. Cool video thanks

I need to make a correction. You get Alberich's set from the "Fortified Manor" that looks exactly like the Round Table Hold. His set is supposed to be dropped from him when he goes missing. It is called the Spellblade Set.

To get his armor. You need to complete his quest line. Then he will leave behind his armor after his death.

Rogier dies at godwyn's body. Ranni takes control of his corpse and goes to the roundtable hold. This is why D says he's changed and isn't the man he was
