1:58 is the dip i chickend out on my trek marlin 6 . is the rock you hit with your front tire slippery damn nice dip
@huntstyle4 жыл бұрын
Don't recall it being slippery. Pretty sketchy, though. You need to speed to get up the other side, but too much speed seems dangerous there with those jagged rocks.

I've been away from the trails for quite a few years. Got seriously out of shape, gained weight, and got diabetes. I'm ready to take back my life and get back to doing something I really loved, mountain biking. My goal is to get in the best shape I've ever been in. I've never been into the technical trails, but I love the fast hard trails zipping through the woods.

Hikers are always afraid of bikers on those trails, I always see them way before they see me, yet when I slow down for them and give them room they still get startled.

Went through almost all of RCP (minus 13 and 14) for the first time ever today, it was amazing. I usually only ride the south loops since they are the easiest, but someone who rides this trail regularly let me follow them on the north sections. I think that was the most fun I've ever had on my bike.

I had to screen record and slow down the shot of the hiker you scared. His face when he first sees you is hilarious. I can't wait for it to cool down, I'm going to come up and spend a night or two so I check out some of those trails. I'm sort of craving smoother trails, I got a taste in San Marcos last weekend but it quickly turned in to extreme Texas chunk haha.
@huntstyle6 жыл бұрын
Haha yep, I looked at it frame by frame. Almost used it as a thumbnail, but my purpose in hitting all the DFW trails is to make them kinda like trail guides for people looking up these trails. I know what you mean, all the chunk can get old. Sometimes I wanna go fast on some smooth flowy trails! I think you'll enjoy Northshore, though. There's just enough chunk to keep it interesting without the entire trail being chunky!
@ChrisCXK6 жыл бұрын
I'm excited to check out Northshore for sure. A change is always nice. I could use a change in weather right now, this really sucks. I've been invited to a ride Saturday but I'm strongly considering not going and just going to the lake or beach instead. Were getting in to the worst riding days in Texas haha.
@huntstyle6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it's ridiculously hot right now. It's hard to breathe just standing outside, can't imagine how difficult it would be to breathe while riding! Still not ideal, but at least early in the morning it's in the 80's, lol! That's about the only option, and unfortunately for me I only have Sunday morning available.

Ohhhh that creek crossing at 2:00 is infamous for destroying bikes. I've only been to RCP once so far, and I had a stupid crash at the creek crossing at probably 5 mph. I don't know what really happened, but my bike fell to the right, and I ended up falling on top of it. It bent one of my crank arms, and put a dent in my rear triangle, and I had to walk back to the parking lot. There's a hilarious video of a guy getting owned by that creek crossing that appears often on the DORBA facebook page. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rXqQkISditqdsMk

actually, the creek dives on 14 are insanely sketchy.... after multiple flats and a bad crash i just avoided it....its mainly sketchy because they are ungroomed and are seemingly different each time, so its hard to nail a consistent dive.

Nice video - will have to make the trip out there one day. Can't wait to see your Isle du Bois video in the future (hopefully you brought the camera on that one.) IDB is quite humbling, puts your skills to the test. Curious on your line choices through those massive rock gardens..

Yes sir, that one will be next week! I ended up walking a few of the uphill sections. I think I could do them, but it is just so much exertion I was wearing myself out!
@alexstewartallred6 жыл бұрын
I was kinda the opposite - walked the rock gardens but did all the climbs to reclaim any dignity I left behind, along with some blood, sweat, and a bent brake blade from falling on it wrong lol The deer were nice though
@huntstyle6 жыл бұрын
Ouch! Yes, tons of deer out there! We weren't sure if we were just seeing the same 2 deer over and over again, or if they were different ones, haha! Okay, yes, the downhill rock gardens should be good. I haven't looked at the footage yet, but I remember one where I just went up & over the biggest rock there, haha! The other route looked like too many gaps between rocks where the front wheel could get stuck.

13 is def not a black diamond....only by dallas dorba terms...still very challenging when you are learning to MTB...a few rock (concrete) ledges, some tricky small climbs and a couple 3 foot drops...either way it is a nice place to get away from the hustle and bustle, get in a workout and free ur mind... ; ) ..nice vid, made me miss it.
@huntstyle6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it's rated on the trail signs as black diamond. I don't know if it technically meets the IMBA criteria for black diamond. I didn't find anything more difficult than west side of Northshore.

Hey Huntstyle I found you because of some pinkbike comments under te seth article. Your videos look great. I'll leave a sub for more to come! First little complaint though haha: I think your camera could use a little wider angle. Keep it up!
@huntstyle6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, having watched videos done in superview, I'm not a fan! The distortion is crazy, and I just feel like I'm in some sort of warp zone watching it, lol! So I stick with the wide angle view. I've given some thought to adding a helmet cam so I can switch to that view when the trail gets really technical.
