I like how you said play the game and have fun. I been playing RYU since the beta and while he was missing things, it helped me step my game up because of that. Would I switch characters? Probably not I didn’t play SF5 at all and SF6 is like my reintroduction to SF. I been a Akuma main most my life but I like RYU in this game and look forward to growing with the character 🤘💯

I mainly play rush down in fighting games, but as no one else from the base roster of sf6 was interesting to me, I kinda said okey I'll play some Ryu till Ed comes out. But for now stuck with Ryu bcuz Ryu showed the fundamentals my gameplay was lacking, so now learning Ryu properly as well as fixing my fundamentals. I'll suggest anyone to play Ryu who wants to make their fundamentals and footsies better. And thanks AM for the guides🤟🏻

Ryu has been my main but I realized you have to really know the game to be good with him, there really are no gimmie combos like a lot of characters. He still feels like he's from a different (older) game compared to others but It feels all the better when I win. I'm also just accepting the fact that I'll be forever a mid tier fighter with him as my main, still have fun though.

I love playing shoto, ive played Ryu and Ken in every street fighter i play. In sf6 I branched out for the first time and played Geif and JP. I am absolutely trash at charge inputs. If anyone has tips I'd love to learn Guile or Blanka

I switched to Ryu from Zangief, though i still use gief a lot, and ive noticed that Ryu has a much easier time with DI than Zangief does. His drive rush is also much better too. That said, he still feels... mid tier i should say? He certainly not nearly as strong as Ken or Akuma. But he definitely feels like a solid character with no crippling weaknesses.

Ryu does have a mediocre Drive Rush. I don't think having an 8-frame cr.MK is that big of a deal however.

@5:45 u sum up Ryu perfectly. He's still behind the Sf6 meta, and he requires way more thought in his gampley than actual top tiers

I got a little bit of flak for saying this, but I think that even if Ryu had unlimited Denjin charge her still wouldnt be top tier. He has to work so much harder than all of his peers in order to get the best results out of him. His normals aren't horrible, but they're all painfully average. Denjin Hashogeki requires his normals to connect in order to land it. You're not just going to randomly land a stray od Denjin hashogeki. If they buffed his cancelable move frames AND hit boxes THEN he'll be top tier. But what's holding him back is his normals. And his drive rush... Oh my God his drive rush... Don't even get me started on that.

His 5HP is great, almost as good as Ken 2MP and 5MK are decent, 5HK is great punish tool He is definitely over average in S2, T0~T1(hope)

The way I look at Ryu is like this: he has one tool that can counter every other character in the game. But every other character in the game is based SOLELY off of hard countering Ryu.

I think Ryu is quite safe even he is T0, because most of the players who like shoto and want to switch to another shoto would pick Akuma rather than Ryu

@@computervision557 Hope you’re right. I’m really enjoying ryu with the new changes, new combos of 5HP and the denjin change have really helped his game. Can’t see him being top tier although I haven’t played anyone else really.
