How cool that you can now see what it looks like today. What do you think the biggest change has been?

I grew up here, a few blocks from the capitol lawn. I'm really interested in how it's different for adults, especially since I've lived in LA for the last 15 years.

While I'm not familiar with what Salem was like back then, I can tell you that in the past 5 years since I moved here, things have improved a lot. The city is investing a lot into the downtown/river front area and it feels like Salem is really starting to bloom. Have you visited since you moved away?

@@SalemOR I have not. Our family lost our home in the 2008 crash so there hasn't been a reason for me to come back. I do like being able to get a glimpse of the city modernizing thru videos like this, so thanks :)

Where is the best place to live in Oregon?? Or is Salem the only place that’s good.
@SalemOR11 ай бұрын
In Oregon I've lived in Portland and Salem. Both are great places in my opinion but it comes down to what you're looking for from a city/town, budget, and lifestyle. There are a lot of great places around this State. People tend to like Portland if they are looking for a bigger city. Salem, Corvallis, Eugene, , Independence, Silverton, and Ashland are all great spots if you're looking for a smaller town feel.

❤Lived there most of 50 years and it's beautiful, especially in the Fall. However people and the police often collaborate fabrications in order to deter and frustrate and hinder certain populaces and that's definitely not right. Pls. Note: In a total of 7 years of living homeless I was only free for 22 months while locked up the rest of the time. *** Here in good old Los Angeles, CA I e done two days in almost 5 years. I'm pretty sure it's safe to assume that Salem, Or has an unfair agenda and treats people vastly different according to your standard/standing in the community. I don't bother people, I just want to live. I'm not an inconvenience to anyone. In Salem one is treated differently. I'll probably never ever return there to live ever again!! Nice job however on your presentation!!!❤

Thanks for watching and sharing your perspective! Is there anything you do miss about Oregon that you think others should know about?

How is it for diversity my partner and I are lgbtq+ they are also a person of color we really want to move here but we are nervous when it comes to the diversity.

Great question. I will use facts from my recent relocating clients who have moved to Salem to try and help answer this question. In 2024 I've had 2 LGBTQ+ clients (2 couples, 4 people total) relocate to Salem. As for overall diversity, Salem is homogenous when you compare it to many other cities across the US. I would love for other locals and relocating friends to chime in and provide there perspective. Another great place to ask this question will be the Salem, OR Reddit page. www.reddit.com/r/SALEM/?rdt=60008 When the time is right we can discuss your unique situation on a 1-1 buyer consult. I can share some past client experiences with you and provide some more info to help you decide if Salem is the right place for you.
