Actually ridiculous that footmen were still being used when cannons and muskets are common battlefield fare. Let’s just acknowledge that the only good thing to come out of Warcraft 3 was Garithos.

@@jonathanwells223 Actually during Warcraft 3 muskets and cannons were still rare. Definitely not a common battlefield fare. Lorewise even someone like Arthas couldn't requisition more than a handful riflemen, or a couple of mortars, let alone a Steam Engine, the pinnacle of the Dwarven-Gnomish ingenuity, unless it's for a common cause that would make the dwarves eager to help. It's not like they just produce an infinite amount of them to arm literally everyone and their grandma, these are still new weapons developed like a decade or so earlier. Even in IRL history Muskets were slowly phased in. Armies weren't just suddenly upgraded a week after guns were invented as if you're playing Age of Empires. It took a phasing in of the new weapons and incorporating new strategies around them over decades to a century to even get to the point of musket squads. They were still using shields and swords when the first pseudo-muskets were going into the hands of soldiers. You can't easily convince someone who's lived through wars with his weapon of choice that he's trained all his life with, to suddenly switch to this new gimmick that's really loud and looks really dangerous to even handle, and seems rather slow and sluggish to use. Plus to add to the fact, as you can see, in Warhammer the Empire also has footmen. A lot of footmen, and so do Dwarfs with their own equivalents. And it's not like you're fighting just other humanoids in either universes. Undead that don't care about a bullet hole, Abominations that shrug it off like it's nothing, Magic of many kinds. Just the fact that Stealth is an actual thing and not just a metaphor for a Rogue sneaking around is enough to give a huge disadvantage to gun usage. After all - can't shoot what you can't see.
