@@declanjones8888 Skirmish game, they have two main games, Code One is the newbies version and N4 the grown ups one (it's quite complex and CO is not bad at all. I mostly play CO. N4 is just more, wich is amazing but it's also amazing theres a smaller game to start) It's set in the near-ish future. Couple hundred years from now. It's based on real-world countries and stuff. Most sci-fi fantasy stuff is basically advanced tech they discovered at some point like super materials, wormhole stabilization or super organic medicine and specially IA So basically, humanity colonized a handful of planets, most modern countries reorganized themselves in super countries led by PanOceania (Australia, India, Indonesia and another non-US liberal countries) and YuJing (super China that "won" the cold War against the US and the UE but have been now overtaken again by PanO, sorta) Humanity has had some wars but the powers are mostly at peace... Except the aliens attack. Basically the covenant. At current point of history it's not yet a full on war but multiple beach heads... Like Tyranid invasion for example. Infinity is more of a spec ops game than a full on wargame, so mission between human factions (Wich are the most since theres only one (quite big) alien faction... I mean they're two but the big bad is the EI, the covenant) are spec ops and black ops between them. Stealing information, selective assassination, stuff like that. Humans aren't at war with each other buuuut we all now there's a cold War underneath. Still, for ordinary people is still normal life. Factions are super cool. I love that they're realistically humans but still super original. PanO, basically liberal utopia. The ultra power. Tolerant, religious, technological. They've got literally power armored catholic knights. YuJing. Super powerful china. Communist empire (yeah future politics are weird but they tried to make them quite realistic). They're... China. Best heavy standard army and ninjas. Nomads. 3 anarchist super ships based on unrestricted information, unrestricted labor, and unrestricted trade. They've got a mix of everything. And I mean it. The most expensive mech and armed furries in the same army Ariadna. A Lost colony of old powers, Russia, US and UE that developed their own culture. Brave, bold, backwards in tech but they've had werewolves so... Haqquislam. Golden age of Islamic science and culture 2.0 rich, asymmetrical, they've got a monopoly on medical tech. They've got Capitan Islam basically. 0-12. ONU but actually useful Aleph. So... Yeah. THE IA, all the others are baned (say that to the nomads). Basically a computer god that care about humanity... And has cloned Achilles as a captain in their independent army. The combined army. The covenant of Halo basically, lead by the Evolved Inteligence, another AI god but... Gengis Khanish. They've got a super weird army but they're scary as hell. Also the gameplay. Complex but the basics are easy to learn. The action economy system is amazing. You have a set amount of moves and can distribute as will among units. Best part, the other player can have a mini reaction if you move someone in their line of sight. Stealth and speed are extremely important so there are also camo and paratrooper units and hacking is a thing. Sorry for the long text I really got excited XD there are not many players, but it's a great universe. I really should try to play it more. Corvus Belli is also an amazing company. All rules are free, models are super crisp and cheap compared to the devil, proxy is legal in tournaments, and there are free oficial (I think) mods for tabletop simulator.

A fun little detail about wargames atlantic bases is that you can glue figures with puddles on the other side. And then all you have to do is to fill the rest with whatever you feel like. Keeps everything level. And WGA uses the same kind of plastic as GW. Maybe not an exact blend, but high impact polystyrene is high impact polystyrene. The fits are not as precise though, so I will suggest a thicker plastic cement instead of extra thin.

Quar very much have this sorta vibe that reminds me of Ralph Bakshi films and old Opus comics, and a small splash of the water-color charm of the 1995 movie adaptation of The Wind in the Willows. You know, the sorta vibe that old European comics and newspaper strips used to have, if that all makes sense.
