When this song came out, we were riding down the road on I-69 in Flint, Michigan. My dad said "Do you know what a Coupe De Ville is?" I didn't, and when he told us kids, I thought "How cool is that? The idea of a Cadillac in a Cracker Jack box!!" And drilling for oil on city streets.. I was blown away.

I was 20 in 1987 but the lyrics of this song still hit me hardest during my teen-to-early 20's and those oh so fragile relationship years. Especially during a break-up with someone who I mistakenly believed was the perfect one for me. It turned out they weren't the "perfect one" for me but that didn't make the heartbreak any easier and certainly didn't help hold back tears while thinking I only had 2-out-of-3 she was looking for.

To me, Meatloaf is doing to the woman, who loves him, what was done to him! When he says, " their was only one woman, that I have ever loved, and that was so many years ago"...etc. Fast forward , years later here's a woman, who loves him completely, and he cannot reciprocate, her love! He never healed, from his true love, not loving him! The first time my late mother, heard this song, she said " Now that's cold "...it was one of her favorite songs! Great reaction. I have Meatloaf's " Bat Out Of Hell" on Cassette, Vinyl, and CD! This is my favoriteeeee song by him!!

Specifically off the Bat out of Hell album. I'm not lying when I say I had to keep re-buying it because my friends and I would wear it out, every damn song. God, he was the soundtrack to my life in the first few years after highschool, even though I graduated in the early 90's. His music takes me back to simpler times, the funnest years of my life. I loved him, RIP to a true LEGEND.
