Yellow shea has additives to create the yellow color.It's generally the Borututu Roots or Red Turkey Castor oil or which is red to ahd that yellow hue. it is just as moisturizing but is not pure Shea, like the Ivory (not white) unrefined shea. Shea butter without the Borututu root added is ivory colored or off white by nature. If it is snow white, it is refined.

@jiinx723 жыл бұрын
Been using unrefined Shea Mango and Coco butters. The last for making my wife's body butter. Yes there's that nutty smell but I like it, but understand fully why companies use refind Shea as it has no smell and won't work against their chosen scent especially if it's a light or fruit based one and the nutty smell of Shea just works against it. Still early doors for my home made beard butter but it's keeping my beard soft so it's doing it's job.

Awesome beard, great video. Thanks for the indepth look into the details. One minor note, as I have a mostly white beard I found the unrefined butter, over time, I ended up with a yellowed beard. Yeah, I could use the purple shampoo but I find it's a little harsh for my beard. The whiter shea butters work,not as well though, but they also don't discolor anything.

Shea butter is a DHT blocker. DHT blockers are terrible for your beard IF you have a patchy beard. You have good beard genetics so you can use DHT blockers.
@BeardedExistence3 жыл бұрын
You don’t have to worry about Shea butter slowing your beard growth. Shea butter is great for your beard. Many oils are DHT blockers as well but they are great for your beard and so is Shea butter. Applying Shea butter to your skin will not be enough to penetrate and slow your beard growth. It will actually do the opposite and promote growth because of the nutrients in Shea butter. We also have tons of DHT blockers in our diet like strawberries, watermelon, avocado, almonds, eggs, bananas, carrots, blueberries, walnuts and more. Applying Shea topically will not slow beard growth.
@SHAKAtheG3 жыл бұрын
@@BeardedExistence I'd have to respectfully disagree. Topical application of DHT blockers have been shown to slow down hair loss on the head so why would they not effect beard growth? DHT causes head hair loss but is required for strong beard growth. Countless videos with people growing beards by topically applying minoxidil. There are studies about caffeine used topically in treating Androgenetic alopecia. Topical applications most definitely can impact DHT levels.
@BeardedExistence3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely topical application of Products like minoxidil have been effective for some people. I wasn’t saying topical applications Of DHT blockers don’t have an effect I was saying that topically applying Shea butter and most of the carrier oils that are listed as DHT blockers isn’t going to have that same effect as those products. There is a lot of misinformation out there. The benefits that Shea butter and oils like , avocado, apricot, argali, baobab, grape seed, emu, hempseed, lavender, tea tree, rosemary, coconut and so many more that I can list are also on the DHT blocker list and as I stated you won’t get away from eating many foods with DHT blockers .
