I used to live in a sleepy little coastal town in Sth Australia. Every year tens of thousands of tons of sand would disappear from the beaches during winter. And every summer, it would all return. The width and slope and hardness of the beaches are forever changing.

If the sand bar has moved out it means the beach is accreting not eroding. The inshore sand should follow and fill in over the off-season and the whole point will move outwards. A quick Google Earth check shows how dynamic that area is and that place is definitely never the same year to year let alone decade to decade. Enjoy it while you can!

Wow! I was there the fall of 2022 and it was never that good. We mostly wing foiled but would have surfed if like these videos. On the up side, we owned the place and had a great time surfing and foiling for a month driving down and back.

Surfers are a pretty destructive force. First came surfers. Next came Cameras. Then real estate agents.

@@karstenrohloff5316 It's either that or a group of Locals will claim the spot and turn it into the section 8 of surf spots. Like Lunada Bay or all of the North Shore.

Any sand bottom wave will change from year to year, and sometimes month to month or even quicker based on swell intensity and frequency as well as wind direction and intensity. Typically all this happens on a seasonal basis. Typically winter has one dominant wind and swell direction and summer has and another - usually sort of opposite to winter. One can never tell how long pristine sand banks will survive, but the worst that can happen is human intervention for whatever reason. Leave the place alone and it will come back at some point - maybe better than ever - as long as global climate changes don't throw a wrench into the natural process. The bay will most likely be just fine over time since mother nature tends to be fairly steady over the long term barring anomalous factors.

He just states that it breaks a lot further out now. That sounds like a good thing. The shape of the coast will be like it is for some time, I believe

Sand migration is going to make it look "different" in cycles. Unless the geniuses build a jetty nearby....it should be safe.

Hilarious comment in the video description saying the wave used to break 5 meters from the shoreline. Why say such stupid things? That implies you used to run to the waterline, jump onto your board and in 2 seconds you'd glide into the lineup.

Breaking further out. Isn't that a good thing? The angle and swell direction is the thing here. But, hey, never been there. Probably never will 😢
