2024 will be worse than 2023, not for experienced people maybe, layoffs will be less, but new induction of people in the industry will be at an all time low. With already laid off people with good experience and gap ready to work in lower salaries, it will be very difficult for freshers to grab a job. It is high time to search for alternate opportunities for people starting out college, apart from engineering, something else like travel industry, healthcare industry, etc. (with lesser impact from AI)

Iam a mechanical engineer and was working in tata but somehow due to my idiotic mind I thought software is good and I should skip to software engineering so I left my job in tata and did java full stack which was my biggest mistake now Iam job less and I have now decided to go back to my mechanical engineer life and I think there is hard work but I was satisfied even though there was less money in my mechanical job . The frustration and insults from relatives why did I left my job I have stopped going to any wedding all they ask is about job my father is in a good position in railways he feels so ashamed when all his friends relatives ask about my job but somehow lord krishna has gave me strength to face this tomorrow is my interview and I hope I get the job. Friends I forgot to update I got Graduate engineer position and Iam currently in job. Salary is less but iam ok with it. Ihave planned to start my own workshop in my hometown after working for some time in job.

Need suggestions i have got laid of in October and in January i cleared HTC company 3+1 round salary also discussed and agreed. Then they told i will be joining in next week thats at the end of jan but two days back hr texted like to search for other job and go with other company by quoting that Project is on hold (but its a internal project they mentioned in HM round and hr is not picking any call ) i lost two other offers on there confirmation and now bcz of that again starting from zero. And call flow is too low.

Software engineering should not be seen as a job but as a service platform to augment and enhance machine performance. However, today they are seen as limited to many old and not so relevant aspect like web development. We need to understand going forward we shall need more function over style. For example designing and implementing programmes for space mission, advance e commerce, logistics and much more. Everything we see today can be programmed and hence it is not unfair to say a major chunk of techies lack a broad vision to understand the scheme of things especially Indians. It is an inherited loss for our countrymen , that society in India is way behind its western counterpart in realising the scope of advance opportunities the future holds. Hence the whole education framework is archaic and embarrassingly irrelevant in determining the values. We can't be in 2024, start with "hello world" to begin our software journey. There needs to be a definitive clarity on the real life problems one needs to solve using software engineering as a tool/service. Ironically, we are mired by our own sets of social economical and personal turbulences. How do we expect the world to listen to us?

As 3 yr expe devloper one thing in software engineering career nowadays is that jobs are less and people are more People from civil, mechanical and other streams are also becoming developer ( I won't say its bad as everyone need job) Secondly there are people i know who are senior developer and are from non-cs background and make fake experience

Exactly thats the main reason. In last 2-3 years these fake experience assholes just switched careers by doing some course because of high salaries in IT and not because of interest. That caused the genuine employees to lose job since once anyone enters a job they learn it somehow. Now the fake ones are enjoying and bechare deserving candidates are suffering.
