Honestly between her and Lady Nagant, I would say Star and Strips got a bit of the short end of the stick.

She should have used her "2 things controlled" limit. Get in a good swing at Shigaraki to use her quirk to not be affected by Decay, and then stop using it to enhance her body so that her quirk after being taken does exactly what it did. The same result, no death, great character interaction later on.

Great video. Think the fact that so many people are complaining about Star's wasted potential just proves how cool and likeable she was. If she wasn't, nobody would be talking about her still.

Star and Stripe arc is still good even it was short in 2 episodes as it takes 46 minutes to finish the entire arc but it feels like it’s mostly 1 hour

For sure. Her character and everything is fantastic it just would have been better if we had known of star or had gotten some prior knowledge of star way before the arc. Like imagine if deku at one point early on in the series had mentioned star being this epic hero from the US and he wanted to meet her someday he became a hero. Giving her this sort of legendary and well known status among would be heroes. I still feel horikoshi will end up expanding her time in america and her rise to number 1 some time in the future.

if you think about it, if star survived then the whole entire final war would've been totally one sided and the villains would've been annihilated in 5 chapters

I mean everything that happened at the end of the arc with her quirk being stolen could have all still happened without her dying either because she could have before letting shigaraki grab her quickly cut off his finger so that decay couldn't activate when his palm touches her to steal her quirk and once he stole and the revolt within him begins she could have escaped on top of one of the jets.

I will say I wish she got introduced earlier she was really cool and the anime made me love this mini arc more the backstory and fight were amazing but honestly she did a lot for just that fight plus it felt like a movie battle I'm gonna miss her to me and Lady Nagant were awesome seriously can't wait for the rest of the season also a Nagant spin off would be amazing and so good:)

Thats what I'm saying imagine after the series is over horikoshi ends up doing those spin offs and we get a more fleshed out nagant and star and stripe that really enhances the arcs they get introduced in. It would make the series as whole even better than it is now

Some bullshit she was done dirty. There is NO REASON she should’ve fought him alone other than for the purpose of the plot. Shiguraki should’ve gotten jumped end of story. Midoriyah (however you spell it), endeavor, and Cassie all stompin his ass. Low diff easy dub end of the anime. But the story had to end with a climactic showdown so Cassie went in solo even though the Japanese heroes CALLED FOR HER AND KNEE SHE WAS COMING. I just hate when characters are killed off for plot alone

I just wish she had showed up much earlier in the story. Then her death at this point could've hit more

it would’ve been so much more interesting if she didn’t die but get “weakened” maybe she partially decays but her quirk would be powerful enough to keep it at obey and try to heal up and come into the fight at least against all for one and then have all might and her fighting alongside. 🤷

Star was a walking, talking plot device and I'm pissed that Horikoshi made her so cool and badass just to go out in a blaze of glory, she had so much charisma. We should at least get a 5-6 issue spinoff focused on her.

Star and Stripe, her quirk was necessary to help destroy Shigaraki from the inside or no one would have every stood a chance against his full power and perfected body.

Even though her time was short, I wall served well, plus this felt like the ultimate Camino to hori work, since his story was inspired by American comics

I think its funny that Hori was able to make a character that appears for only a few episodes and make both manga readers and anime watchers instantly love and get upset about just as quickly. But i can only see Star and Stripe appearing in a T.U.M. chapter that either goes into further detail about her upbrining (how she discovered her quirk and how she improved it) or her interning under another top American hero. If anything, i really hope that there will be more T.U.M.

To me personally i don't feel like she was wasted though it would have been nice to have got more time with her. I would love for Star and many characters to get their own spin off further expanding of their character. So how do you feel about the most recent mha chapter cause it has been very divisive?

I agree. It's an off and on thing I have with Stars. Yes, she was wasted but at the same, she wasn't. It's a tricky subject. I feel like Horikoshi wrote himself into a wall several times while writing Stars. He needed a reason to delay Shigaraki's powers, so Horikoshi decided to create Stars from America to fight shiggy, so the heroes can have enough time to prepare. But while writing Stars' character, he accidentally made her quirk a little OP. He got caught up in a corner again, so he needed to kill her off real quickly, Or else the series would have been over a lot quicker and sooner than expected. I'm not saying all this is true!!! This is just MY speculations. But like I said before, I will give him credit for killing off a MHA character. It's not too often he kills off a character. And not to spoil too much for you anime onlys, but during the final war, there are hardly any deaths at all. Many casualties and many are hurt, injured and what not. But hardly anyone is dead. And the Manga is almost over and everyone is fine. So yeah, while Stars does feel a bit wasted, just remember, Horikoshi had the guts to kill off a character.

I don’t fully understand the “wasted potential” argument. What “potential” do people mean exactly? Do they mean a different route for her character that they simply would have preferred? There are many different things Horikoshi could have done for her character, some that could have maybe been better OR worse, but even before all the recent developments in the manga, I never saw anything truly wrong with what he decided to go with, even though I get why people are disappointed.

Honestly, while what we got was cool. I do agree that she had a lot to offer as a character and pretty much felt like wasted potential. I think it would’ve been better for her to have her quirk stolen and destroyed while keeping the character alive and active. You could probably explain that Shig4One didn’t use decay on her when stealing her quirk, so he could test out New Order on her and the pilots killing them that way. Which fits with Shig4One’s obsession of wanting to test out the quirk, just for it to be booby trapped. I even made a little fan fiction of what could happen if she lived with her quirk gone. The impact she’d have on the story, characters and her dynamic with Deku could be interesting. With Star kinda acting like a big sister to Deku after finding out their connection to All Might and just really liking him as a person/fanboy. She would even refer to him as “bro” like she does her pilots. She could’ve also been the one to help train Deku to complete OFA. Like army, training while he incorporates some of her fighting tactics into his OFA moves. Maybe insisting to continue fighting even without a quirk, which leads to her and All Might having a brief argument, which helps All Might answer the question Deku asked him at the start of the series “Can I become a hero even without a quirk?” Which would later inspire All Might to do something I can’t say. While he gives Star his old support item suit he mentioned during the culture festival arc to stay in the fight, with a few upgrades. And a lot of other ideas I had. But hey, hopefully Horokoshi does a mini-spinoff of the character so we can know more about her.

In a different comment I stated that way to get around her being Decayed would be that right before shigaraki lays his hand on her to steal her quirk she should have quickly cut his fingers off so that decay couldn't activate. All for one takes new order, one of x-66s quickly saves star from falling in the ocean and as the jet retreats to the main land, shigaraki Attempts to use new order and from there the rest of the star and stripe arc would play out, but with star remaining alive. While I do love her impact on the story. It's pretty much needed for her character to have that sort of spin off story that let's us get to know her more that way her sacrifice in the arc feel more emotional.

@@fastvalkary725 Well, at that point she’s quirkless so she wouldn’t be able to do anything, so in some twisted way. Why not kill her with her own quirk and test New Order on her and the pilots would be Shig4one’s mindset.

This was so well done that I just can’t believe there was discourse about this. I cried as Star disintegrated. To be able to introduce a character and provide enough backstory to make an emotional connection with so little time is a master class in story telling.
