There has been speculation that Saturn exploding was caused by him having multiple DFs. Basically Imu's power grants immortality and regeneration which could counteract the effect of eating multiple DFs, once that power was taken away by Imu Saturn not only shrivelled up to his proper age but the reaction of the multiple DFs took effect, causing him to explode. This would also explain the wide variety of powers the Five Elders possess. All speculation though, keep that in mind.

Does everyone keep forgetting that supposedly Blackbeard ate two different types of devil fruit. Types of devil fruit Logia, Zoan, and Paramecia. Which means that it might be because they ate the same type of devil fruit or different devil fruit that they supposedly died. And Blackbeard's devil fruit allows them to supposedly absorb other people's devil fruits when he touches them so he could actually handle touches more than one person contemporary is all the devil fruit powers so if he want to eat multiple devil fruit he power should allow him to survive and use them.

What's Blackbeard did under the blanket is not a mystery, we already know. Even if the history still didn't reveal it explicitly, we already have enough puzzle pieces to find it out with a good level of security. It's like Big Mom being Lola's mother and the admiral Green Bull (before his name was revealed) having plant based powers that allow him to make photosintesis and therefore not having to eat. We already knew these things before they were revealed, they were SO OBVIOUS that was no surprise at all when they were confirmed. So here goes the solid theory that, unfortunately, is not as fun as the one in this video: Blackbeard have the devil fruits book guide, the one Sanji read when he was a child. So he knows what king of fruit carry what type of powers. That's how he knew Tatch's truit was the yami yami he wanted and then killed the nakama to obtain it. That's also how his tripulation is stealing devil fruit powers from killed characters like Absalom. It was revealed in Punk Hazard that when a devil fruit user dies, their fruit reborns in the closest fruit as the same kind, we saw that happening with a Smile. That's how DoFlamingo obtained the mera mera fruit for his tournment. The mera mera have the appearance of a japanese melon. The closest japanese melon to Ace when he died became the new mera mera. The closes banana bunch when Kaku dies will become the next Ushi Ushi, the closes pineapple when Buggy dies, and so on. Therefore, Blackbeard, knowing what kind of fruit the gura gura is, cause the content is in the book. did bring that fruit with him to Marineford. What he did under the blanket was to see a regular fruit transforming in the new Gura Gura and them simply eating it. I'm nearly 100% sure of this explanation, the pieces are given and it's not hard to merge them. Just like in Lola and Aramaki's cases, it's so obvious that doesn't look like a mystery at all to me. The canibalistic explanation don't fit the history. I do believe Big Mom had eaten mother Carmel and got her powers via canibalism but, as explained in a previous video here in Grand Line Review, this is a very dark theme for Shonen Jump. In order to publish the history in a magazine for teenagers, certain details can't be explicit, they need to remain just implied. The explanation for Blackbead having two devil fruit powers, however, is too much important to the history to not be explicitly told, it can't remain implied for the rest of the story. So, if was Oda's intention to reveal that Blackbeard antropophagized Whitebeard, there is no reason to not make it explicity in Linlin's flashback too.

So i must apologize in hindsight. Anyway, i was about to go on the how low the probability of such tranfusion happening, since they already need to have the same blood type to begin with. And blood related families can still have different blood type. And then not only they neede to be injured so bad that they need blood transfusion, it cannot be too bad that they die first. And then there's the problem about medical service being overseer by the world government, etc. I'd say the total probability of that happens is lower than being struck by lightning 3 times naturally. But on second thought its not an absolute proof.

I’ve always suspected that devil fruits are all so different and unique that without knowing exactly what is changing genetically from both fruit, there’s simply a higher than average risk that the two fruit overlap and are therefor incompatible. However if by chance or by very careful analysis of a prior user of both fruit, it would be possible for their effects to not overlap and be compatible. Dr Vegapunk’s work side steps this a bit by simply altering the genetic changes individually, simply choosing one set or the other for any overlapping changes. This may be why they are limited to using only one power at a time, and this would also explain why the Seraphim could wield multiple powers that are otherwise would be incompatible in a single being. All this is not to discount any extra “specialness” a being comprised of multiple people like the theory of Blackbeard speculates and their separate ability to wield multiple devil fruit.

Technically speaking, there isn't really anything wrong with blood cells of differing genes to inhabit the same body, as long as they work, they are fine. I am curious how long it would last though, since blood cells die kinda quickly. Maybe if the darkness fruit can nullify, it may be able partially copy, as long as it knows what to copy. It's darkness after all, the shadow of everything that can exist, therefore, capable of representing its shape.

An absurd theory that I think I'll always enjoy is that Blackbeard is actually a basket that ate a human human fruit. After all baskets can hold a number of fruit. A more serious theory I like is that Blackbeard had consumed an Octopus fruit in the past. Octopus have 3 hearts and he has a ton of 3 iconography. Hell even his bounty 3,996,000,000 can be interpreted as San, Ko, Ko, Ro, with San meaning 3 and KoKoRo meaning heart. Not to mention the 8 bones on his jolly roger.

Multiple people have, most people think it's a zoan. The Kraken or Cerberus fruit seem the most popular. I am personally fan of the Cerberus fruit since it might give Blackbeard the power to store captive souls in his body. I absolutely HATE that I just realized... Devil Fruits would be so so SO much more overpowered if/when the world was far more covered in land than water. Maybe the whole reason the ancient kingdoms enemies sank the planet in the first place was to counteract the kingdoms overuse of devil fruit abilities during the war. Idk how this ties in since its mostly scientific at this point with fictional fruit, but since it was discovered that DF are the embodiment of a persons deepest desire or wish, I had a thought. Ok, mostly headcannon, but, i have reason to beleive that blackbeard is definitely an ancestor of Davy D. Jones. A notorious pirate who couldnt stop stealing because he was so greedy. (According to oda) So anyways, i am one to think that davy jones was from void century and was altered so that he would somehow have two devil fruit powers and he died and his secrets with him. However we also know that marshall D teach is more or less a history buff who is similar to robin in that he knows some ancient secrets from his own research and understanding. Im guessing blackbeard found that his blood was special because he shared his biological dna with davy jones. Upon more investigation he might have learned that davy could effectively somehow have more than one powers and blackbeard may have needed to do an experiment to know for sure without causing the end of his own life. (Not sure what the experiment would be to validate that he is indeed ancestor of davy jones.) So he stole whitebeards devil fruit to assert himself in that new title as well as show that he alone has this wonderful ability. My theory is that if the devil fruits are compatible you will gain both powers and the ones that were tested weren’t compatible. A way this could work is that you can only have one of each type of fruit and because paramecia’s are the most common that is what was used in the tests.

I really like what Oda did with the Lineage Factor concept. One Piece organisms are so weird and wacky that just slapping on the real scientific nature we as real people exist with would feel remarkably weird. Sure, you could just scream 'haki' or whatever and that might be enough for some of it but not all. It's great that he went the extra mile and set this up. DNA is an actual substance in our bodies, not some nebulous concept and having that reflected in giving the One Piece human- and fish-man and giant and- etc's an analogue that is also just was weird and wacky is very satisfying.

Given you can eat someone and gain their power (mother caramel is never confirmed dead at any point and she’d have more than enough food and space to exercise), and given there’s a blood/dna factor, I have a few theories: 1) a prior yami yami user once “ate” numerous DF users forever altering the Yami Yami and making it compatible with several DF or all DF. 2) the Yami yami is one of or the first DF meaning all subsequent DF would have the base gene factor of their yami yami progenitor; giving the Yami yami user the capacity to command numerous DFs without the risk of “____” 3) It’s also likely that willpower has something to do with commanding a DF let alone 2; we’ve yet to meet a DF user who lacked willpower-I.e. the will to pursue their dreams; build their life; or conquer the wills of others. Even the weakest DF users have something unique-beyond/aside from their DF-that distinguishes them from the masses or normal peoples. So Teach may have strong willpower or his yami yami DF may have a strong Will to be the ruler/king/strongest and it needs a meat puppet it can control like teach to achieve said goal. At this point I’m fairly certain Oda will come up with something wacky, but the possibilities are almost endless

Blackbeard makes me think of that CSI episode where the killer had two sets of DNA because they had a condition known as tetragametic chimerism, in which the embryos of fraternal twins collapse into one. Though maybe in Blackbeard's case it was triplets.

I think its pretty simple. Blackbeards devil fruit is the dark dark, with the characteriatics of being able to absorb anything including concepts like extra damage, devil fruit affects, physical objects, and even light. Its a lot like a black hole. So all Blackbeard probably does is use his ability to target the will of the devil fruit and sucks it into himself. He probably has to maintain the subjugation of the extra fruit with his power to prevent the fruit spirit from leaving/contesting the other.

it’s possible that you can eat up to three devil fruits as long as they’re different types (paramecia, logia, zoen) because it’s not stated that every devil fruit changes your dna, just that that was how paramecia devil fruits work. therefore, it may be that each type of devil fruit modified your body in a certain way that cannot be practically done twice. this would explain why black beard could eat the dark dark and the tremor tremors fruit: since the dark dark was a logia, it did not alter his dna, at least not in the same way a paramecia would, allowing the consumption of a paramecia fruit without both fruits fighting for their place in his body.

If the "they" incident isn’t taken into consideration, then it could be that Teach has the Darkness Fruit in his lineage factor to a degree. Lineage meaning genetically transferred/altering could mean that if enough of one family eat a devil fruit then it effects their bloodline permanently. I think it would be in a "this fruit is so perfectly suited for your genetics so now you can eat a second devil fruit because another one isn't making very much change to your body" rather than "wow, that man sure looks like darkness" or whatever. Maybe that's how he knew about the Darkness Fruit to begin with, his biological parent died and had the fruit beforehand but he wasn't able to consume it after them. And Teach obviously isn't the type who would be mad that his parent died, but rather angry that he couldn’t get the power that he wanted, given all that we know about how he operates.

In Naruto, Madara ate a chunk of Hashirama and grafted it onto his chest to use Wood Style; with Oda and Kishimoto being buddies, a spin on that would make sense. The Lineage Factor makes a lot of sense too; as long as Whitebeard is “holding” the Devil Fruit, he can bypass the other rule. Personally, I’m hoping for the three personalities hack. Could you imagine a Multiple Personalities Disorder carrying like 20 devil fruits that way?

I have always been of the opinion that Blackbeard has a type of siamese/conjoined twin/triplet thing going on but instead of it being external like normal it is internal with him. And I also think that the "core" or the "soul" of the fruit settels in or replaces the heart. And in Marinefort Blackbeard ate Whitebeards heart before the fruit had time to find a new host.

Honestly, I still hope Dabura's explanation turns out to be true, because it actually makes the most sense to me. If the fruit itself is merely a host for a little invisible devil, it would explain why some fruits have a will of its own and why even objects can "eat" a fruit and turn into sentient beings. Kinda like fusions in DBZ, the devil and the eater would fuse together and turn into a human with super powers. It would also explain why a regular fruit can turn into a devil fruit if a user dies close to it. In that case, the devil would simply abandon the dead host body and look for a new one. Maybe fruit devils can't force themselves into human bodies, so they have to enter fruits and stay dormant until they get eaten. Once you eat two of them, as Dabura said, they turn on each other to fight for the rights of the body and kill the host by doing so. Teach might be an exception, because devils dwell in the dark and he's literally darkness. Another reason why Iike this theroy is because it's not too different than what happened to the Going Merry. Doesn't matter if the Klabautermann is a devil or a spirit or something else, but it's something either takes form in the ship or enters the ship and turns it into a living being. Maybe the Klabautermann is similar to fruit devils, maybe a simpler and more ancient version of them.

I seriously just thought blackbeard awakened his fruit. Which is like a black hole , and black holes collect mass, able to collect things and nothing can get out. So I'd imagine being the black void himself could collect him anything he desires in an awakened form, because isn't their awakening limitless when they realize or is that just luffy? I remember this because the barrier fruit and the clone fruit used in wano in the 20 year flash back but they had to still use the hand symbols. Maybe it's passed down knowledge or something which causes them to believe they must. Almost in the same way where we believe Robin's demon fluer in wano was Robin's manifestation of herself or some believe "awakening" and if we did see the previous user able to do this then they could too I guess. We still don't know whether her angelic and demonic form was just drawn that way as an art style choice because it very well could be sprouted limbs that we see drawn as a big person. just like her big leg or big arms with the individual arms at the base. at first i thought that blackbeards ability to acquire second DF power was thanks to Yami Yami no Mi. In his frst encounter we learn that his darkness can suck up and absorb pretty much everything. Maybe that's the reason? He absorbed devil fruit power from Whitebeard's dead body and thus was able to acquire it without consequences. That sounds like a good reason for him to salivate on mere thought of this fruit before stealing it.

I've always suspected that the Yami Yami was necessary for Teach to steal the Gura Gura from Whitebeard. The whole focus of the fruit is on two things, absorbing things and nullifying things, including shutting down other fruit powers its user in contact with. My guess is that the fruit helped him pull Whitebeard's power out and then sequester it somehow within himself or nullify the negative effect it would have on him. Then he pulls the power out of the darkness similar to the way he pulls out debris and weapons and such.

The whole "it's not him. It's they" thing I think gets overshadowed with theories compared to what it probably meant thematically. Hear me out: They weren't identifying nearby crew members, because grammatically and contextually, it's just awkward as hell. Not wrong, but awkward and not how anyone would reasonably say it. BUT, Blackbeard's last line to them, after discussing dreams, is "am I in your way?" And then Nami asks if he knows anything. But when Luffy and Zoro correct he, I think they're talking about "people in our way." It's not "he's in our way." Or "he knows something ." I think the message Luffy and Zoro took in was "THEY stand in our way. ANYONE might know something. EVERYONE WITH A DREAM could be our competition." It's still essoteric, and still awkward, but if it's always gonna be awkward I think this also works as a response to "Am I I'm your way" which followed a lengthy discussion about dreams.

And the reason he killed a crewmate dor it was that was the one he wanted. And the drawback of the fruit is too high unless the benefits are unnatural. So I thought, "Maybe, simce we see him absorb damage from other fruits, and half the power of fruit users, maybe it allows him to absorb the devil fruit from another's body."
