I was shocked when I heard this game was being remastered. I played it so much back then on PS1 as a kid and never beat the second level. About 4 years ago I played it on my PSVITA and got to the gungan boss but that’s about it. Amazing game!

In VS mode Plo Koon had a two hit(Sq,Sq) fast swing combination, which would stun any jedi infinitely. For some reason it stuns way longer than other Jedi combo strings.

This was one of my favorite PS1 games! It was the first time I saw a yellow lightsaber (plo koon) and it became my favorite lightsaber color ever since!

Tatooine level had a nightmare part when you had to jump on pillars to cross a gorge. Clipping was horrible and you were lucky to get passed it.

The no online co-op made me sad cause I woupd have loved to play it with my brother since we played the PlayStation version a ton growing up. I've been loving the remaster but it does take some learning for me cause it's not sourced from the PlayStation version but the Dreamcast which is different in some ways. Enough to throw me off haha. Love the game still though

Downloaded it a few days ago and started playing today! I don't have 100% of things unlocked from the go, so that may have been the copy they let you have access to. I don't have any of the gungans or mercs. I do have Padme, Panaka, Maul, and the B1 battle droid, though. When the game started and that opening cut scene started, I was livid. Adi Galia and Plo Koon had BLUE sabers! WHAT? WHAT? WHAT? lol I do enjoy that you can select the saber color from the character select screen to be original game accurate or Clone Wars accurate. They even did it for Ki-Adi Mundi! His TPM figure came with a purple saber, but he has a blue on in Episode 2 and on. Love it! Of course, I'm playing through right now with 'Ol Molasses (Plo Koon for how slow he is) and his yellow saber! Can't wait for ELECTRIC JUDGMENT! :D Great review, solid points, and a timely release!

You need to complete the final mission and get access to new game plus, then you'll get all the bonus characters they introduced like Jar Jar and Rodian etc - By all things unlocked, I mean stuff from the original game (ie Maul, Padme etc)

They corrected the opening cut scene to be lore accurate. The game released before Adi and Plo had official colors on screen, so they had to wing it. But even back then, George was adamant Jedi couldn't have red sabers, and that carried over into current canon; so Adi's blade was changed.

If I remember correctly Darth Maul used a single blade lightsaber when unlocked in the ps1 version. If that was the case across all versions it's a nice detail they added. The texture wobbling made the platforming extra hard back in the day. I look forward to replaying it. It's by far not a great game from a gameplay standpoint but I have fond memories of overcoming its challenge and unlocking new characters.

This remaster is a port of the Dreamcast version. Maul only had a single-bladed saber in the PS1 version.

@@emeraldmilcham6041 I dont think this Maul has hes Original combos tho. I mean the combos he uses against you on the Final level. I sort of renember playing him somehow, probably through cheats and hes combos are insanely op if you can access the real boss version somehow.

Nope can't say that I have. The first Star Wars game I was introduced to was Star Wars Episode 1: Racer, followed by Rogue Squadron and Shadows of the Empire, all of them on the N64. After that I found my way to the Dark Forces/ Jedi Knight Series.

bueno, pues jugaste la version de ps1 porque la de dreamcast se veia muy bien, aun ahora se ve muy bien, incluso si lo juegas en el emulador puede subirle la resolucion y se ve igual a este remaster. el trabajo de mejorar las textura se hace facil con una ia, y 20 dolares mas 5 gigas de espacio solo por eso creo que es demasiado. te pondre dos ejemplos de buen trabajo de remasterizacion, esta metroid prime remastered y ninja gaiden 2 black.

Its nice to see that they fixed the invincibility god-mode glitch. You could not use it on every level, but it made Coruscant a walk in the park for some Jedi. I think it is fixed, i did a very short test tho.

don't kill the queen on 4 Gungan ruins is a nightmare..beware the water. the combat is slightly different....you can't block out of run. you have to skid to a stop first ...and the droids will punish you for it. the blaster shots are faster and the droids have amazing accuracy. Corasant is the easiest level now....the enemies play fair. Maul is tough

Played it since i was 8. So basically due to that it is the best star wars game. In the PS1 days. You could get some extra hard DLC by taking your disc and scrubbing it into a hard scratchy carpet. Belive it or not, this made a droid sometimes shoot a 7-11 shot volley. And rocket droids shoot 3 rocket volleys, made them way more dangerous. Blaster droids werent that accurate tho. Tho there were some hard freezes occasionally, t'is extra challenging. I dont suggest doing this with an original disc tho. That one has quite a bit of collectors value. Soloing Darth Maul with Plo Koon was pretty much close to impossible. I would say the remaster is a bit easier than original. There are some bugs, but from a co op session i had with my friend. The bugs made us laugh hard and have not had this much fun in any game since multiple years. We co-oped the 1-10 story levels in around 6h. One bug was Level 10 Final. My friend fell onto the ventilator and started spinning around quite fast. Darth Maul was quite easy to solo with the Coruscant crackhead npcs.

I recently played through Jedi Battle Powers, it seems to be a remastered port of the Dreamcast version rather than the PS1 version which is understandable as that got a lot of issues fixed when that was released 6 months after the PS1 release its ok still but still has those dodgy collision detection problems. Then i realised Jedi Mode is a lot easier than i remember but thats because for the DC version they toned the difficulty down

My friends and I played this all the time when I was a kid. I always loved this game and am glad it got a remaster. This game introduced me to Plo Koon as well. Because of this game it always felt wrong with me to see him with a blue lightstaber instead of yellow.

For those of us who grew up with the prequels, this game is an absolute nostalgia trip. The platforming is still hella janky, but that's part of the charm. Evident by the fact one of the achievements/trophies unlocks the first time you fall to your death.

The main thing I would like patched is the input lag, push a button and it takes several seconds before a strike, which really makes the gameplay feel frustrating at times.

As a kid when i used to play this with my dad, i would play as Plo. But now, I chose Mace as he got the sickest combo moves and knowing Adi and Plo are weak as fuck. Starting this game with training mode before the main campaign was a wise choice since the PS1 version is a bad memory due to poor platforming.

I grew up on Jedi Power Battles, and was obsessed with it as a kid. Unfortunately, I played the PS1 version on PS2 and couldn't save my progress, so I would have to leave the game on for hours on end to be able to progress through the game. I did get to Darth Maul at one point, but I don't remember if I ever beat him or not.

What I don't like is that this the Dreamcast version. The PS1 version, despite having a lower visual quality, had better details in the scenarios and characters but it was also more difficult. I would have preferred a remaster of that one.

Especially since they, time and time again, want to profit off of material and ideas they didn't make and willfully de-canonized. While I agree, Disney gets no money if you buy it on PS1 or Dreamcast. Retro gaming is better anyway IMO.... especially for Star Wars games.

After seeing the absolute glowup Raziel got in soul reaver's remaster... i'm quite disappointed that aspyr didn't go further in improving character models here.

The game looks like it did on Dreamcast, just in higher resolution, and with maybe a bit more lighting. Play the Dreamcast via HDMI through a RetroTINK 4K and it doesn't look that far removed from this re-release.

This just look like the dreamcast version, the only difference being that you can now switch saber colors on a few of the characters.
