Steve Smith SR in my honest opinion is was and always will be the absolute BEST players to ever grace the NFL football field without question he's truly a Hall Of Famer pound for pound the Heart and Soul of Carolina Panthers he was a 3rd Round draft choice out of University of Utah in the 2001 NFL Draft by the Panthers went to one Super Bowl despite losing to the Patriots I believe he deserves a Gold Jacket he do like he won a Triple Crown in 2005 year in the NFL leader in Receptions Receiving Yards and Receiving Touchdowns too 0:08

He'll be in the HOF at some point. 8th in all time receiving yards, 12th in all time receptions, 8 seasons with over 1,000 receiving yards, 5X pro bowler, 3X all pro (2 1st, 1 2nd team all pro). He isn't a first ballot HOF but he should get in someday.

@desmondmadden6433 I mean, he's technically not since he didn't make it on his first ballot. But then again, Terrell Owens made it on the 3rd ballot and he was 2nd in receiving TDs and 3rd in receiving yards or vice versa. The media hated him though lol. Steve deserves to get in regardless though.

@@desmondmadden6433 he should be but he won't be. It's just the way they vote these days. Hines Ward was definitely one of the toughest SOB 's to ever play the position and he can't get in after many years of trying. Best blocking receiver ever, Super Bowl MVP, Steelers all time leading receiver. Steve Smith is a dog in the same tough guy category as Hines so that tells me he'll get skipped as well.

I don’t understand why this is a question. Nobody has achieved what he has achieved with such mediocre quarterbacks. Especially the 2005, 1500 Yard 12 TD season. Jake Delhomme best season he still had a two to one touchdown to interception ratio with less than 3900 yards passing. If you call that a great quarterback, then I don’t know what to tell you. Steve Smith will always be one of my favorite players for his intensity, integrity and tenacity. I’m 25 and a colts fan, but I appreciate greatness when I see it. Just wanted to add that his best season came after he broke his leg in the season opener. This man has a dog in him!
@TrevorHamberger
@TrevorHamberger Ай бұрын
There's mostly truth to what you're saying but the way that Carolina ran their offense back in the day was centered around the run game. To hold down home accountable for only having 3,900 yards in his best year is discounting the way the football used to be played. We have to stop letting these overinflated ego stats of today driven by a corrupt media circus be some sort of benchmark. The stats of the game today are mostly fake.

I don't care what stats anybody shows me Steve Smith is a Hall of famer. First of all just look up his playoff stats. That's all you need to know about a great receiver. But beyond the playoffs that he had an impact on the team in a way that very few players have. He was a blocker, he went over the Middle with no fear, and he provided motivation to the team around him. He passes the eye test in ways that many will never touch. He was a complete receiver in every regard. He's sort of like having a Randy Moss on your team but just a tier under that level of talent.

"Lack of Ring(s)" is the dumbest argument of all-time. Guess some of the NFL greats need to be removed for "lack of ring(s)" then. Bruce Smith, Thurman Thomas, Jim Kelly, Andre Reed, Barry Sanders, Tony Gonzalez, Cris Carter, Tim Brown, Andre Johnson, Randy Moss, Adrian Peterson, Eric Dickerson, Jim Brown, and on and on...none of those guys have Super Bowl wins and are all in the HOF. Rings is the most foolish way to judge a player's greatness in team sports.

It's a cliché, but to really understand the kind of season he had in 2005, you really had to be there watching it. Every Sunday was the Steve Smith Show and you knew, win or lose, that there would be at least one moment that left your jaw on the floor if not several. Even then he was still kind of under the radar after several weeks and there were still teams thinking they could take him in single coverage. Like the infamous Fred Smoot game where Steve just roasted him like a Costco chicken all afternoon.
@jacobblack9496
@jacobblack9496 Ай бұрын
I looked up the stats from that game and watched some tape. Fred Smoot got cooked bad. Smith had 201 yards one touchdown, and a perfect catching percentage. His route running that day was so crisp. He ran by Smoot every time and the couple times that he could actually make a play for the ball. Steve Smith boxed him out like a little kid and moss on him twice.

He had a hof career without a doubt.. However it's be a long time before he gets in. Issac Bruce has 1000 yards and 10 touchdowns more than Smith, was part of the Greatest Show on Turf and it took him 11 years before he was inducted. Tory Holt same numbers and a ring still not in. Also, way defenses are handicap today; in about 10 years I wouldn't be surprised if the stat books are saturated with WRs having +15000 yards and 80 touchdowns. So, that might really kick the can down the road for him if he doesn't get in the next 10 years. Honestly there is no fucking logic for who gets in the hof, especially for WRs. Andre Johnson was just inducted, but Reggie Wayne and Henry Ellard are still on the outside looking in.
