I use my saws a lot. The 500i wasn't available yet in the states at the time, so I bought a 462CM. It's awesome. But.... to your point, I use the MS261CM 90% of the time. three pounds makes a huge difference in fatigue, and most of the time a 20" bar is fine. Both the 462 and 261 have compression releases, unlike my 201T. And the 201T is harder to start than either of those when cold!! Stay safe. Wayno

You are right. Many occasional users do not realize the terrifying danger of the chainsaw, especially if it is powerful and heavy. Injuries are often very serious and complicated to treat. Stay careful and wear safety equipment! And above all, learn with experienced people. This is the chance I was able to learn with professional loggers, which did not prevent me from being hurt by a piece of wood. In statistics, this profession is almost as deadly as that of a sailor-fisherman. Few chainsaw sellers say it or know it... In conclusion, it is sometimes better to have your firewood delivered by a professional and take advantage of your free time to walk in the forest... Thank you to the Finnish lumberjack for his common sense!

I'm not a professional but I love my MS 500i, (and you may not take it from me). I like being able to buck standing up. I like a longer bar because the moment of inertia is further away from me, meaning that if the saw kicks back it is more likely to swing out and over me instead of back into my body. I like having the power for big wood, but I rarely use more than 50% throttle for small wood. My lower back is much happier with a saw that is relatively light (it is not that heavy) and very powerful and has the oiling capacity to run a longer bar. I do agree that idiots should not run any chainsaw, including smaller ones that provide an illusion of safety. ALL chainsaws are dangerous and all of them can seriously injure or kill you - so I do not feel that the MS 500i should be singled out in this regard. I also own a medium sized saw and a very small saw. It is about having the right tool for the job (and not more than is needed).

I think that Husqvarna saw is a Zenoah made in Japan. May be cheaper to find that or the RedMax GZ360 that looks very similar. MS500i here is $1,510.00US!👍

When i sold my 661, i put a warning in the text, that i wouldnt sell it to any inexperienced persons, it can and will kill you if shit happens. Its not only the chain through legs, its the suprise you get if you go ham in wood with a powerful saw. You might cut a hinge, a corner and whatnot. That saw with a sharp chain ate everything.

Still a lot of saw for a once a year user. Even though smaller it is still an expensive professional grade saw. A non professional saw in a similar size for about 1/3 of the price would be a better option for the occasional use at home.

I don’t know I’ve used big giant chainsaws my whole life. Well at least the last 36 years of my career, I like a longer bar so I don’t have to bend over.
