Admittedly I'm a Stihl junkie and have this mower. In fact, have the string trimmer that uses the same battery. The handle is dorky, but I have adjusted to it and can now get comfortable using it. Stihl also has a "500" battery (as opposed to the normal "300"), and I have that also. If cutting and one runs out of power, just pop the other one in. No different than adding gas, so not sure why the big deal around run time. And so much better than fooling with gas and oil on a conventional mower, will NEVER go back to gas. End of year maintenance? Take off the blade and sharpen, and you're ready for next year. At same time I bought the Stihl, bought my daughter an Ego. No comparison in quality, lots of plastic on Ego. I have heard from a dealer who sells both that the Ego mowers are having electronic issues.....just what I was told. Haven't noticed any problems with missed grass, seem to get a decent cut. Lots I like about the mower, and satisfied with purchase. And thrilled to be getting away from the mess of gas and oil. BTW: my daughter loves her EGO also.

I see the missed blades..how high do you have it set? IDK if you're a "pro" or not but if you have it up high it looses a lot of the vacuum properties and you get a crappy cut. Im looking to transition to battery next year. I have about 20-25 yards a week, some can be jungles at times especially when a renter doesnt mow before they leave. I work for a realtor. I tore my rotator and am trying not to pull start anymore. So what Im gathering is these arent any good if I have a yard over 10"-12" unless I by several extra batteries ($$$$). I guess once I get past the expensive battery purchase Ill be okay. I saw a $400 Stihl battery mower a couple days ago. Im taking at that price point it'll be worse?

Honestly i love it but i have a small yard and it cuts pretty good and ive definitely saved gas and ive learned i can use my leafblower battery pack also with mower !

Look at the whole line. If you are thinking of a snowblower, then I would go with Toro. Otherwise I would go with Stihl. They have a dealer network to support you and superior batteries. I would opt for the 460 if you have a regular urban property. The AK line is for homeowners.

I have a greenworks 13 amp 21" corded electric. With a 150' 12 gage extension cord I can mow the whole property from 1 outdoor outlet. Im willing to bet it wil destroy any battery mower in a shootout. My neighbor has an ego 21 and needs 2 7.5ah batteries to cut the whole yard (same size as mine). So look at the cost. Two $400 batteries, a $200 mower, $50 charger for $1050 or $285 for a 13 amp mower and 150' extendion cord? The choice is easy
@TheLawnReview5 ай бұрын
Gotta admit it sounds like a good deal! If you can bear the extension cord.
@Henry_Jones4 ай бұрын
@@TheLawnReview thats the key is cord management. As long as you mow away from the outlet the cord will never be in your cutting path. When youre done wrapping the cord with the over-under method ensures it will never tangle and unravel tangle free as you cut. You also have to plan your route based on the cord. It took me 3 cuts to really nail it down. Only downside is if you want self propelled youre sol cuz theyre push only, but theyre ligher too. Mine is a steel deck and is only 53lbs. Power wise its 13 amps so at 120v thats 1.56kw or 2hp all the time, no spinning up and down based on load like the battery mowers. It feels about as powerful as my old 21" toro gas push mower.

Extension cord? Had one of those 40 years ago. If you're willing to deal with that, go for it. No way would most want to do that.

That is a rebranded Greenworks. Stihl has an ownership stake in Greenworks. The best battery lawnmower is the SR
@TheLawnReview5 ай бұрын
I think that isn’t the case here. I’ve used the Greenworks dozens of times and it’s markedly different. Totally different battery. Doesn’t have a dashboard. Aluminum vs steel deck. They’re vastly different.

None of these battery mowers show power output and advertising runtime is very deceptive cuz its always different based on conditions. How tall is the grass? What kind? Is it wet? Whats the deck height set to? All factors that affect runtime. I calculate power output from the battery. Ah*voltag=watts/hour and if you drain the battery faster it will multiply the wattage so an ego 7.5ah 56v run for 1 hour is 420 watts. If its a heavy load and the battery drains in a half our its 840 watts or 1.12hp. 1.12hp? Thats why they dont post hp or watts of these battery mowers. Fact is theyre not that powerful. Only one I could find was on a sunjoe and it was 800 watts max.
@juliacartman88194 ай бұрын
Power output in watts does not mean much.... you need a torque value combined with power in watts. The torque figure can also be deceptive as manufactures do not mention if the torque value is continuous torque or peak torque that may last a split second. Take the Makita 40v XGT mower rated at 1900 watts vs the Ego select cut xp rated at 1200 watts... which mower feels more powerful? You would think the Makita based on advertised watts. You basically have to watch you tube comparison videos between mowers and rely on the reviewer to demonstrate which mower cuts out or struggles in thick and tall grass. Ego offers a 30 day money back guarantee for their push mowers if your not satisfied with your purchase. Ego also shows advertised run times based on the battery that comes with the mower. There is so much incorrect advertising by manufacturers when in comes to battery mowers. Hopefully this can change in time when battery mowers can compete with petrol mowers.
@Henry_Jones4 ай бұрын
@@juliacartman8819 torque doesnt matter if its applied slowly. That where watts matter more. Hp= 746 watts= (torquexrpm)/5252.
