I only see Netflix being interested in mega fights like Paul vs Canelo , Garcia , or Mcgregor . I don’t see them bidding for elite matchups

Agreed. They are most likely going to stick to influencer boxing.

Did anyone watch Oliver McMcall’s knockout yesterday? He did a hammer fist rabbit punch KO

Was he the same Oliver McMcall from way back? The guy that cried in the ring?

It was a one time event, could've happened with any other streaming service. A quarter of the people, if that, will tune in to watch NFl and future events on netflix. Chris is correct, The world tuned in to see Mike tyson

I hope Netflix stays in boxing. Amazon Prime hasn't been active enough

Of course they have to fix the terrible issues with the stream buffering and freezing but no one is bringing up the fact that visually it was way better than anything I’ve ever seen on DAZN or ESPN between fights netflix was showing really cool shots and graphics, stats, highlights, etc that looked so much more interesting and eye catching than any other presenter
@CasterShellzКүн бұрын
I mean it already is…there’s a little platform called DAZN 😂 they are miles ahead of Netflix in quality live streaming The major American cable networks have all dropped boxing (HBO, Showtime, FOX, NBC) so streaming has already become boxing’s go to. Matchroom left Sky Sports for DAZN, Queensberry is leaving TNT Sports for DAZN, and Top Rank is rumored to be leaving ESPN when their deal is up, possibly for a streaming service. Amazon Prime has PBC but that doesn’t really count because they aren’t giving PBC a budget so PBC barely has any fight dates.

To be fair to Netflix.. DAZN never came close to 60 million livestreams at one time.. they would struggle too

@ fair point but Netflix struggling with streaming video overall Not just live streams

I wonder how probox would handle 60 million households, tho 🙄

Dana White indicated he will be launching a boxing competition in Feb 2025, he said he will be rebuilding boxing from the ground up. It will be interesting to see how his Saudi backed competition looks, and what new boxing rules he mandates, like round duration, glove size, weight categories, fighter wage contracts more inline with UFC, etc. With Turki buying the Ring magazine, will they look to build a brand and title belts around the Ring brand? With Netflix and Amazon getting into streaming boxing it will be fascinating to see how it all shakes out over the next few years. A great time for boxing fans.

Don't wanna sound like a grump but just because a couple of millionaires have a bone head idea lol and say hey we'll do it our self doesn't mean the production will be of notch quality....streaming just presented that garbage. HBO SHO boxing was elite billionaire production and it showed...it had reputation history and historical pundits on hand...not fans from the UK and USA that can talk properly. Well have to deal with this and I believe it will get better in time but right now it's sublime. Let's step it up because it has to. Nothing will beat the old? I hope so.
