Thanks for your content - really keen to try the Sun or Star Princess but your comments re Piazza entertainment vs other venues (eg crooners and crown grill bar) is really interesting. Only been on Discovery Princess so far and found it amazing in terms of entertainment and balance across the ship and now in a quandary about if Sun and Star Princess are for us! Have an inkling we will need to try it (or Star Princess) for ourselves! Keep up the great content!

We love the class of ship that the Discovery class ships are. We feel that that design is better suited to spread passengers throughout the ship so it never feels overly crowded like we experienced on the Sun. There are many wonderful things that the Sun Princess has to offer and hopefully you have a great time cruising on it. The week we were on the Sun the Dome shows were cancelled. We wonder if that wasn’t the case perhaps the other venues wouldn’t of been so congested.

Been on the Princess Sun twice recently and can't agree more on this review. Main issues for us was the overcrowding and slow service, both when ordering in the app, and in the main dining rooms (not counting the Dome, Princess Live, Piazza and Stadium areas which required you to get there well ahead of time if you wanted a seat). We won't go on the Sun again due to these and other reasons. Thanks for the confirmation in your review.

We haven’t sailed on the Sun Princess yet, but it seems that the Royal Class ships are a better fit for us. We really enjoy the live entertainment on board in the different venues. Thanks for sharing.

The entertainment was fantastic on Sun Princess however we felt it was limited compared to other princess cruises that we have been on.

I absolutely loved the Sun Princess…the food, cocktails, staff and entertainment were amazing. We never used the app even though we had the Premier package as we were never more than 3 mins away from a bar or restaurant so can’t comment on that. I loved the buffet, Alfredo’s was amazing and we were regulars at Good Spirits. We had to plan our sea days down to the minute because there were so many entertainment options around the ship. The ship was at full capacity but we never felt crowded…I am claustrophobic so that was great. Everyone has different expectations and wants and needs out of their vacation so having varied opinions are good. We met a ton of people who loved their cruise as much as we did but we also met a lot of people who seemingly hated almost everything.

Thanks for the vlog, it seems to me that it may be difficult to jump from one venue to another so more planning is needed for each night to enjoy a specific pre-dinner venue, dinner and then a post entertainment venue. Cheers.

Another great vlog. As much as we did enjoy the Sun princess, I agree with you on the crowds which are mainly created by everything centered around the piazza. We like to get a drink before dinner and our dinning was on deck 7 but the Wheelhouse bar, which is just around the corner never opened before 5. It should open at least by 4 for those coming into dine at 5 therefore making Bellinis very busy.

I still appreciate the old Explorers Lounge and Vista lounge that sat so many people and there was live music all over the ship. On our recent Baltic cruise on board the Caribbean princess we really fell in love with that ship. We were on the Royal Princess for a long sailing and the Princess Live set up drove us crazy.

Greetings Jill and Jerry! Your sea day pool looked nothing like ours. It was packed,and those loungers you mentioned facing the sea, were all packed too. Of course we were on the US Thanksgiving sailing, so that's why. We didn't have a choice if we wanted to experience the Sun, as our HAL Zuiderdam ended her voyage in Ft Lauderdale, same day as the Sun sailed in. We did enjoy the Dome for relaxing. It became our go to spot. Also loved Crooner's for a beverage or two, while enjoying those sea views. Yes the Piazza was very busy in the evening. Totally agree they needed to have more live entertainment throughout the ship. I have to give a big thanks to Jill-tried a Cosmo for the first time and loved it! Next on my list will be Glacier Blue. Hubby eats pizza with a knife and fork! Excited to see San Juan with you. Cheers from London, Ontario.

On the sun now. They just told us they are going back to self service buffet on Star Princess and on Sun when it goes to dry dock. They said it was done on Sun because it was designed at the height of covid and they didnt think we were ever going back to self serve at the time.

You can order from the regular menu however there is a small section with about 6 pizzas that is not covered in any package.

This just bolstered my view of at least Princess and Celebrity making a corporate decision to change the direction of their product. Princess attempts to make a Celebrity Edge class here and that includes the limited entertainment spaces, loud center space (so-called "heart of the ship"), but didn't go as far with adding an upper class area for suite passengers. Yes, bigger ships can offer less options. I think the Canucks did not complain. They just showed how long things took on the app, what it didn't provide, and some of the shortcomings of the ship. Is this an improvement over the Royal class? Big no for me. Thank you Jill and Jerry and you've done a wonderful job on this video as usual.

I wish! On the Caribbean And the Buffet is super super small and close together.. I've never had such a small buffet.. End definitely not served. I don't think I saw a hand cake !! ! !. But, I had meatloaf The last day on the buffet Somebody said there were chicken nuggets and they were better than McDonald's! Thanks for the video, I have to say we experienced pretty much the same issues you both did when it comes to enjoying the music. To our surprise we only saw the piano player in Crooners once. Typically for us we like to go to Crooners after dinner and enjoy the music, but not on the Sun. We are on this ship for New Years and to be honest I'm not looking forward to it just because of the changes. Too many people and not enough space to have everyone in one area. Princess Live was a huge disappointment. Sitting at the back and had to stand up every time they changed the screen. You just can't see from the back. Don't get me started on Good Spirits

I thought the Majestic and Discovery were busy enough and small venues to boot. 😢 I love to see all the shaded seating on the pool deck. That's a big plus for me. I also wondered about the glass on the Dome. It looks like a very nice area but too sunny for my liking. I'm very sad to hear they've reduced the selections for the Medallion app. I wonder if the long wait was due to it being a sea day? Thanks for the video and for showing us around the Sun Princess. Loved it! 😍

I sure hope Princess is listening to all of this feedback on the design and venues, and they don't do the exact same thing on the Star. We are sailing on the Star in 2026, and I'm afraid we won't like it. I love the Caribbean Princess other than the fact that she is dated. I was thinking I'd like to try a new ship....

There's but so much they could do on the Star. The ship was designed to be noisier and more limited and enhance revenue. They could tweak it, but the inherent problems are still there. I think Princess is hoping a younger clientele love this over their more traditional clientele that have issues with the ship experience.

There is lots of wonderful things about the Sun Princess. A few scheduling changes in venues would solve a lot of issues in our opinion. The ship is beautiful with wonderful outdoor space and many wonderful food options.
