nah ... too many dumb mechanics in tekken 8, people are using the heat button like a rageart it's so annoying, in one round twice they can get out of jail for free and steal the win, coupled that with power crushing and it's just too much annoying scrubbery going on the flow of the match is all messed up, it feels like playing red like green light , the match flow is not smooth like it used to be, also there's alot more guessing going on in tekken 8 than 7....the only thing i like about tekken 8 is the graphics and that get up kicks no longer combo that's it .

I don't disagree that Tekken 8 is a better GAME than Tekken 7, but I think they both failed as Tekken games. The good thing is Tekken 8 still can and may likely be fixed with time. However, as it stands right now, the direction they are going doesn't give me high hopes. As of right now, literally every DLC character is a casino coinflip stance character. I mean, so many characters in this game are built like that except a select few and can just snowball their offense with tons coinflips forcing you to guess behind their plus frames. Correct me if I am wrong, but I think you're seeing the benefits of this game through the eyes of Lee. Lee tends to slow down the game for both parties due to his strong CH game and Keepout, which is stronger due to the nature of Tekken 8's aggressive design. However when it comes to the snowballing pressure, Lee does not have the similar luxury like most characters, at least not without significant risks. Lee's heat/heat smash aren't all that great either compared to average character. Characters go from a move into heat dash/mid heat smashes that are + on block into a forced stance mix that most likely leads to another mix. That's literally this game in a nutshell. The devs themselves literally said in a recent video that all these mechanics are there to help worse players overcome more skilled players. You can't say it's a skill issue when you are guessing for your life in so many interactions, there is no skill involved in 50/50 forced guessing. Sidestep was buffed, but you spend most of the time being locked down by insane plus frame moves like Drag qcf4 and heat smashes. Mind games go out the window when every scenario is a 50/50 guess. TLDR: Tekken 8 as a GAME is better than Tekken 7, but not as a Tekken game because they both failed at that. Where Tekken 7 failed in having so many CH situations, Tekken 8 failed in the barrage plus frames the majority of characters have that lead an absurd amount of coinflip situations that is exacerbated by the heat system as a whole. You're seeing this game through Lee's which is one of the few characters that simply cannot snowball his offense as much as other characters with better heat and Lee also slows down the game due to his CH and Keepout.

Imagine how some people in T8 feel.. sure it's less turtle which I actually don't mind it helps me think more T8 I win for thinking less because of how bullhorn the offense is and the smart aspect of T8 is artificial at best .. because actually , it's really just about avoiding the next wild move as opposed to just defending against pokes. I agree with you. Also could be a perspective from super high level where T7 starts to show it's holes. I had Lee as my best character yet I had more of a blast in T7 till blue/early Emperor Played for 4-12 hours a day no problem. The limitations made us actively think. I can agree T8 Char are more robust and have more tools but in T7 I can breathe and think. I lost because my opp was better. No matchup knowledge? No problem. I can learn in game. May lose but next match I will do way better. While also enjoy most matches. I miss T7 Neutral where not most can +Frame on block hit me from range 3.

People like to compare the end of Tekken 7 with the beginning of Tekken 8. They forget it took a while for Namco to get Tekken 7 to a decent place. Tekken 8 is way more fun for me personally. People complain about heat, but there’s ways to adapt, and everyone acts like heat is something only their opponent has. Utilize it and use it to your advantage, if you don’t, that’s your problem.

The problem with heat is that the entire game revolves around it, which is usually a bad sign for a system mechanic. The game revolves around it to the detriment of other Tekken fundamentals. It’s overloaded and does way too much for basically no downside.

I think T8 feels more like anime fighters and alot of Tekken players aren’t used to that. In games like Blazblue, older GG games, SkullGirls you don’t really want to be on defense. The goal is to win neutral and to make your opponent have to take the mix. With that being said like GM said there are alot of options to deal with certain situations in T8 so there’s never a right answer

I miss parts of tekken 7 but definitely prefer 8 overall, as a player and especially as a spectator. Didn't love being forced to turtle cause everything launched on counterhit and low parry led to hella damage. Watching tournaments is more fun in 8 too. Yeah drag is overpowered af, and yeah its getting old, but at least drag mirrors are fast paced. Kunimitsu mirrors on infinite stages are just not fun to watch, and I'm saying that as a defensive player myself.

@Cazarace
@Cazarace Күн бұрын
Sure, this is true, but it's because of rank inflation and points system, first of all, and also because KBD of T7s were a mechanic to engage very little in the battle, so essentially those that reached tekken king in T7 were the most patient player, not necessarily the better at reaction times or fundamentals, or mind games. They were good at backdashing and waiting for a whiff, but not reading the opponent. That's why I have issues with T7's system. That for me can never be definitive. Some characters are also way more OP in T8 with more complex strings and options than in T7, Heat too can help many players. But going back to the boring fest, long loading times, and the KBDs of T7 is totally unappealing. It's just not fun. Fun is having to hit your opponent. But I was never a turtle in games so...I can understand why turtle style players hate T8. Thing with T8 is also that it's still relatively new and the game might change over the years too.
@GoarmyHgs
@GoarmyHgs Күн бұрын
@@Cazarace its true because there were more defensive options , and falls in line with the rest of the older tekkens, this game is a 2.5 D mash fest, where a player doesnt even need frame knowledge but if they touch u twice with heat you die lol, there is also way too many comeback mechanics for less skilled players to fight evenly with veterans, almost every match is a game of blackjack, one heat engager and you get 21 🤷🏾‍♂️. You have players with 45 defense stat at god of destruction rank , just because they learned their optimal heat dash combo, its sickening.
@Cazarace
@Cazarace Күн бұрын
@@GoarmyHgs You're not wrong about online scrubs, there are way more scrubs, scrubbing people with even more knowledge checks and heat bs that def needs some toning down. Now you have to deal more with these scrubs because you can't backdash away and they will get in your face with the heat engagers. Whether that's good or not says something about Tekken. I've had many friends who beat people without any knowledge in some MUs in T7 just because they used backdash and small tekken to get out of the learning process of said MU by overall laziness. I don't know, pick your poison. But you also have to remember that it's a new game, been out for little time and people need to adjust to this new meta that will be balanced in the upcoming years. Gotta give time. If T8 really was a random mashfest like many people say at high levels of play, we wouldn't have the same players getting in top 8s everywhere all the time in tournaments.

But other then that i agree with you, also hate that getup kicks are safe, i still act as if they're still punishble only to be reminded that they're not. Also wish they stop nerfing kbd, it does nothing for anyone, just makes the game feel less responsive, revert it to t7 kbd and i'm happy, with some charcter exceptions perhaps.
@lazytommy0
@lazytommy0 Күн бұрын
i think the main issue people have with this game is the balance. like hit properties, character tuning, and damage. everything else is superior in 8. like why does 90% of dragunov movelist wallsplat for no reason? chip does a bit too much damage on some characters like leroy. plus frames on alot of characters are far too obnoxious forcing duck to be the only option on a mix follow up. sidestep on alot of things feels unreliable at best, or just non existant at times. and why does every optimal combo close out the round on a single mistake due to depleting 80 to 90% of your already diminished lifebar? why remove skill expression like steve shiro or B2 combo? at 17 frames minimum, it was more than fair to have those difficult combo routs. 8 is a better game in alot of ways, but it's a farcry from where it should be.

in my opinion tekken 7 was better overall in terms of multiplayer considering that it was harder to autoplay. you still had your negans and marduks but outside that I felt a lot more that I was playing against people instead of hyper aggressive bots that plays exactly the same no matter what I do. and also, you could do unlimited rematches, so even if you got matched with terrible players 10 times, once you got that one good opponent you could sometimes play with them for hours and have a blast. t8 is better in everything else, though. if we could just have convenient, unlimited rematching and they toned down a lot of the brainless offense, like nerfing power and high crushes and reducing tracking on strings... it would be just perfect. I mean, if you have a friend to play with you with similar skill and a more honest playstyle it is just a blessing to play, the game is divine. but it's bizarre that to match people freely I have to add them

My pros and cons for Tekken 7 vs Tekken 8: Tekken 7- pros: Infinite rematch, smoother feeling movement, the game feels better than 8 on iffy connections, cheesing victories is harder, better designed(appearance wise) stages (8’s are still great though) Cons: The biggest issue is that the game feels like you’re playing underwater. Strings feel like they need to be buffered instead of coming out as soon as theyre input. KBD into whiff punish circumventing learning matchups. Tekken 8 Pros: feels alot more fluid and responsive. -Commands feel more consistent. -Beautiful visuals and sound work -Training mode and replay quickens matchup experience -more matchup oriented. Less backdash heavy and aggressive nature forces you to learn the matchup or drown. Cons: - No infinite rematch, so cheesing your way through ranks is most optimal way to rank up - in the beginning there’s no real penalty for losing, and at the midway point, you lose an arm and a leg for losing. No in between. - even with rollback, if your connection isnt a perfect 5bar, the game feels like ASS. Netcode at its best is great and anything less than that feels unplayable at times. -heat is unbalanced. Your heat is either ungodly broken, or a hair above useless. No in between. Heat isnt optimized well at all. -Inequal distribution of wealth. Some characters feast with all of their advantages while others are STARVING for some good tools.

No infinite rematch, ranked system was trash for months, wall bound is still broken after months, bad balancing philosophy and homogenized overtuned characters. 5 dollars for ported T7 outfits, it's just a step down in so many ways compared to the amount of improvements
@ettoreozzy9932

Tekken always was a more defensive game than aggressive. Whereas you could turtle out your opponent after getting a life lead. I remember people from 2D games finding so weird that you could tech every throw in Tekken and it's reactable. Tekken 7 had more stronger moves in general and ch moves however after Leroy the DLC characters went way to overboard, specially Kuni and Zafina with older Tekken movement while the rest of the cast had Tekken 7 movement - and don't even get me started on 2D characters. Now Tekken 8 is aggressive Tekken, where a lot of decisions on design in moves and frame data in this game is something we would never even think before in a Tekken game. Yeah some Tekken 7 rage drives were annoying but Tekken 8 has heat smash which are much more annoying in general and they can happen at any moment in the match and people can get into heat with burst not only in rage with low health. Yeah 2D had bullshit stuff and absurd damage, and after season 3 a lot of the cast in Tekken 7 gained insane wall carry where everybody could do big damage combo, but Tekken 8 has wall tornado to extent combo and heat as well which kinda makes it seems like everybody is Akuma in 8. To me, some of the problems in Tekken 7 from season 3 forwards, and to some degree even before that, got toned up to eleven in Tekken 8 and I'm tired of Tekken 7 and I haven't played Tekken 8 since the last balance update. Tekken 8 gameplay style just isn't fun to me. I can play how the game wants me to play it but that isn't fun to me, specially for long sessions. What got me in love with Tekken was the movement aspect of it for neutral, where even in some situations where it seems it's not your turn movement could help. And Tekken 8 just seems to be attack to force them into a bad situation so you won't be put into a bad situation, that or the will they attack or not so will you try to counter hit them or avoid. I don't intend to play Tekken 8 until some major changes and overhauls are done - which might take some time but oh well. I think it's weird your points on Lee in T7 when Lee is a poke heavy counter hit fishing machine so yeah the character is supposed to be played with smalls moves and counter hit fishing so of course he's not gonna have pressure or plus frames moves. I would also say he's the wall carry monster but that part of his identity to distinguish him from the rest of cast is kinda long gone nowadays since wall carry is kinda trivial for a lot of characters - and post season 3 T7 pretty much all the cast could wall carry really well.

I never had a problem with the heat system. I just have a problem with the increased amount of forced mixups and chip. Heat gives players the option to open up turtles but it makes characters with good pressure even more oppresive. Tekken 7 evolved a lot and I hope Tekken 8 does too. Buffing sidestep and nerfing the tracking of command grabs was a good start.

Tekken 7 had more than half the cast landing 90% combos. Most players prefer 7 because even up to Tekken God rank, one mistake rarely leads to a death combo because the average player can barely punish properly or do those combos. Also, 50/50s were constant in 7 but on average players didn’t realize it due to the less obvious cues compared to Tekken 8’s stances/heat or hellsweeps. The passive playstyle in 7's high level comes from the fact that you could die at any moment.
@Tain_edReaper
@Tain_edReaper 13 сағат бұрын
@@seaBebop Yes one of the factors for the passive play comes from the fact you could die at any moment by a CH because of improper "mashing." Which is why the T7 imo had more skill and is better. CH slowed the game down enough for where you had to really think about when to press and recognize patterns. Part of the game was to realize how to be really aggressive in a safe way. With pokes, timing, staggers and interval spacing for whiffs. And scrubs that go full unga bunga got deleted, ch launcher/launchers for disrespecting frame data by challenging/pressing even after getting hit or blocking a +frame move. Now everyone that loses an interaction like the above, instead of using fundamentals/patience/ movement to get out of situations can just spam heat burst, or fast safe enhanced version of powercrushes. That resets the situation or give advantage again. Even if the scrubs get beat by mashing improperly, because of less ch, they often don't lose as much health. And get to try 2-3 times more.

7 Reason Why TEKKEN 8 is better than T7 1) Load times - Tekken 7 being an arcade port had AWEFUL load times 2) Budget Game - Tekken 7 certainly done on a limited budget due to the commercial failure of TAG2 3) Bad story mode - The ending battle was epic with Kazuya and Heihachi BUT if heihachi is cannon in T8 that makes T7 story EVEN WORSE 4) Tekken 7 imo is the most consistently inconsistent tekken game (hitboxes side steps ect) 5) Bad character endings - probably the worst since tekken 1 6) Lack of features - even with the paid DLC still had less content than Tag 2 7) Mediocre music and meh stages - some of the music tracks dont fit the stages or are just average at best…..

Game was so bad they had to put Akuma and other dlc and rage arts which is not Tekken. Thats street fighter lol tekken is too Mishima heavy so even the story no fun to watch. Made other characters goofy as hell. Namco felt they had to speed the game up because Arslan ash picking characters that just dah around and poke all game. Who wants to see Zafina dominate tournaments bro cmon man. Tekken needs more balanced gameplay so we can see other characters shine. Like Yoshi, Kazuya, Law, Paul, Hwo, Lei, Lee etc

the problem in T8 is that the 50/50 feel (and is) forced via heat system, meanwhile in t7 it was turtle/CH fishing fest for sure, but the 50/50 didn't FEEL (and keyword here) forced. i think if heat didn't give guarantee 50/50 on block with minus on block move it would be better (also maybe nerf the frame of heat dash because +27 is hilariously bad (i would put it at +10/+9 so you can try to move out of some mix up)). Aslo i think backdash (especially kbd) need a buff, because right now it's just too bad. everything else is mostly fine. maybe some nerf to tracking and some heat move (but this is character balance).

T8 - Heat has its annoying issues bc it makes stance rushdown characters even more obnoxious and recovery grey health should be much less (chip dmg I’m ok with, but i think lots of moves within the roster need to do less chip). - Tekken 7 has its issues too: even worst netcode (if u think T8’s netcode is bad), CH launch get up kicks imo we’re tilting, 2D characters & their near death combos & bs 2D jump-in kicks into launch and 10f crouch jab BS launches. & most importantly HORRENDOUSLY long load times between every match & rematch. I’m ngl even with comparing those issues - I prefer Tekken 8. T8 just looks so much cooler and as an overall experience if you play with friends or a cool Tekken 8 twitch streamer/discord community, I’d prefer this game than T7.

I mean I understand where you're coming from because a lot of the fan base is incredibly toxic but you said yourself that you are new. You are experiencing the series fresh. The fans aren't. They are used to Tekken being played in certain ways. Most importantly, as a 3D fighter, Tekken has never been about strings or forced 50/50s. There's always counter play. Some characters have forcing a mix up as their identity such as Kazuya but in Tekken 8 it's pretty much 90% of the cast. You got hit by a safe long range mid heat engager? Take a guess or die. You just blocked a mid, mid string? Congratulations, they are now -8 and completely safe. Aesthetically, Tekken 8 is great. It feels great to use mechanically but in terms of the attack properties, the game is brainless. "How many times can I force my opponent into guessing wrong in a 50/50 situation before they do it to me?": the game. I have fun with the game but only when I stop caring about whether it's good or not.

They both have there problems but what I see is bad players reaching high ranks and doing well because of how T8 is played. I’ve seen Tekken gods and higher with 60 or less on defense. It’s just offense all game long. Armor and heat engagers all game. The moment a T8 player doesn’t kill you with their heat they essentially don’t know what to do. And characters are way easier to play with requiring less execution. 9:15 I couldn’t disagree more I feel the complete opposite. Way less thought is put into this while playing. Just look at any Feng or Xioyu player(obviously not all) All T8 is is just heat engagers and armors that start heat.

One of the most interesting videos talking about both games. I dumped Tekken 7 because both the hard turtling focus and the stupid shoto characters and Tekken 8 feels a lot better in the sense that we don't have shotos and the changes to the system make the game feel substantially better than Tekken 7. That said there are some overtuned gameplay systems that also make the game feel more stupid than it needs to be, some further limitations to powercrush moves (maybe a limit to how many you can use or retweak the strongest ones) and tweaking overly cheap characters could go a long way to make the game feel a looot better.
@Civil206
@Civil206 Күн бұрын
I agree, people just aren't seeing what's here because they're annoyed by the strength of the universal mechanics right now. Once Heat engager move properties are looked at, no more universal +5 heat dash, maybe hit universal +17 too, this game will be a lot better because then they can focus on individual character balance. The design direction of the new characters, I aint gonna hold ya, kinda sucks. Stance RPS or 50/50, it is what it is. I don't think it makes the game that much worse but it does make playing/playing against certain characters extremely dull and I hope they reconsider that direction.

Backdash was better in 7 but overall movement was not better. Tekken 8 sidestep is more powerful and things realign worse overall. In 7 you could often step but because you were a frame off with your precision you could get clipped by moves stepping to their weak side when your opponent is +1~-3. In 8 that only happens if they purposefully delay an option. If anyone thinks im wrong just watch at all levels including the highest how much more people sidestep compared to 8.

TEKKEN 8 definitely. T8 is the first tekken I've taken seriously, As a new player into the franchise, I can understand how frustrating it can be dying by unknown pressure but taking that step to get better can be really rewarding. I dont want to say "git good" as a solution because there's obviously more to it, but in any fighting game you have to learn and adapt. I've played other tekkens here and there before but not like this. I remember playing it in the arcade at Me n Ed's, i got a ps2 and played tekken 4 and 5 but in my opinion.
