10:47 the code is lp=1, mp=2, hp=4, lk=8, mk=16 the assists work in a grid from top left start 1,2,3,4..row 2=5,6,7,8...etc that's why colossus is 19 aka lp,mk,mp=19...also shadow=21, and sentinel=22 on the grid or (lp,hp,mk=21...mp,hp,mk=22). As a software engineer its pretty clever/efficient easter egg.

1. Pick Strider Hiryu 2. Pick a Beam Super character 3. Hold Start + MK (for beginners) to select Psylocke between every match (pros pick Colossus, but it's some Start+3 buttons that's harder to pin down at first) 4. Spam Ouroboros and basic combos with Strider, maybe QFC+K on occasion to negate zoners until he's dead (you'll rebuild meter about as fast as you can spend it if you're landing hits, and certainly if the opponent is blocking them) 5. MP + MK to call Psylocke (or Colossus), Beam Super, repeat
@TonyTheTGRАй бұрын
Colossus and Psylocke don't just carry and have priority - they also build damn near an entire meter on hit OR on block. So they don't JUST set up your super, they literally fuel it, too!

The assist button combinations are using binary to count. 000000 is random. 100000 is Unknown Soldier. 010000 is Lou. 110000 is Arthur. Pretty smart! Former CS teacher here! Psylocke is 000010 which is 16.
@neah2k11Ай бұрын
Special note. The more times you can call an assist character, the "weaker" the assist is considered. Except for Lou. Lou is great. Psylocke and Colossus are also considered great because they have a fair amount of strikes, and they are active from off-screen. Not sure if this was mentioned yet but I only found the trick to the assist character codes last year. Each button is assigned a number (1, 2, 4, 8, 16, and 20, I think) as is each assist character (1 - 24). You just hold down the total of the character you want. Psylocke is 16 (MK). Lou is 2 (MP). Colossus is 19 (1+2+16, LP+HP+MK).

I was looking at the roster of this game and lets be realistic. If this game comes out during the social media era it would be so much hated. It's true it was the first time that we saw characters like Megaman, Strider and Captain Commando but other than that the roster is pretty bad and way too small. From the Marvel side the only good addition was Venom who was extremely popular during the 90s. Capcom nailed his sprite and move set and to this day its still one of the best looking characters from a fighting game. Strider was unknown by the 90% of the Capcom fans but his design here makes his look so much better than his original arcade game. A cool tech ninja with badass voice acting can't be ignored by people. I knew Captain Commando from his SNES game which was a nerfed version of the arcade game. The character is way more cool here than in the original game. The fact that the end of the super move is the team pose that is also the game's cover/poster is so freaking cool. Onslaught was a cool design and a dream came true for Marvel comic readers from the 90s. Now think that other than Wolverine and Gambit this game had no X-Men but in some way Spidy and Venom compensated the lack of X-Men.

I prefer MvC1 to MvC2, a lot more thought and care was put into it, plus it has character that MvC2 can't compare to. Don't get me wrong I like both games, but I prefer the hand drawn stage designs more for MvC1 than the 3D rendered layout for MvC2. Even the character thumbnail icons on the select screen are cool, each character has their trademark font for their name, theme music, and individual endings. The characters are more balanced too compared to MvC2, where it's dominated by Magneto, Storm, Sentinel, Cable, and Ironman. The assists are also kept to a limit each match, so players can't abuse them all throughout the game. It has the right balance of characters to choose from; sometimes having less helps flesh out each individual character more. Having 50 something choices in MvC2 is fun too, but I prefer a smaller cast, they stand out more.
