In this episode, I show you how I make a sign using my new CNC machine. It's my first commissioned piece and I'm very happy with the way it turned out. I hope you enjoy the video. Music: www.bensound.com

Hello Chris, You created a beautiful sign with your new CNS machine. Good job congratulations. As a result, I saw a really nice sign. Your plan and machine are the same as the one I use. and you use it well. Your painting technique is great. Thank you for sharing. Stay healthy and happy. See you. Big greetings. With all respect.

Gee, that came out nice man, good stuff! But if they wanted the weathered look, you could have skipped the whole planing and sanding steps at the start, 😁 those were some _super_ weathered old boards you used! Looking forward to more cnc ones, will have to live vicariously through yourself and others until I can justify the purchase for myself!
@BuiltByChris3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Mario. You're right about leaving the boards as they were, but then I wouldn't have had the fun of using all my toys.And you're welcome to come over any time to have a go with the machine. 👍👍

Nice work Chris. I have had good success with Oramask and pre sealing with shellac to avoid bleed.
@BuiltByChris3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Derek, Oramask? Never heard of it, but I'll give it a go. Where can you get if from?

A ripper result Chris and I would say that you are entirely made of creativity! I have long wanted to see one of those machines at work and you demonstrated it splendidly. I have watched this several times, appreciating the whole process. Now that my son has helped me enlarge text on my computer I can comment on it! As a 20 year old [half a century ago] I enjoyed a visit to Stonehenge on Salisbury Plain and I can assure you that you have the edges of that piece perfectly distressed! I am imperfectly distressed but that is another story :-) I was amazed to see how crisp the lettering turned out - you will have a very satisfied customer indeed. You have this video to refer future prospective customers to. I hope you make a sign "C. Zurek Master Penmaker" and put it by your front door! In Malee Burl just like my wonderful Zurek pen! Just a thought - it might be possible to make a sign or maybe have part of a piece of furniture and fill the lettering or artwork with a resin and sand flat. Just a thought. Hope you can keep that workshop warm as you head into winter. Thank you for a great video. Best wishes, Eryk 🎬👍🔨👍🔨👍🔨😎

I was very happy with the end result. I really don't have that much creativity, I just do what I think looks good. I would love to get to visit Stonehenge one day, maybe when I retire I can make a few trips. And yes, the customer really liked it. I'm led to believe that she actually shed a tear watching the video. The piece in question is a gift to her grandfather who is extremely unwell. Master Penmaker, I have a long way to go before I can wear that title. But thank you for your kind words. As for keeping the workshop warm, I'm struggling with that. The temperatures are pretty cold here at the moment. Not a lot of time spent in the workshop as a result. Hope you are keeping well, Eryk and once again, thank you for all your support and kind words. Cheers. 👍👍👍👍

That turned out fantastic! Love the edging (must try that) and I particularly like the stain, especially as there was no obvious blotching. Was it Cabot?
@BuiltByChris3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Percy. And it really wasn't that hard to do. The stain is a Minwax, but I'm sure a Cabot will be just as good. 👍👍
@vtbn533 жыл бұрын
@@BuiltByChris Oh! I was going to say Minwax, but I am of the understanding their products aren't available anymore . On the other hand I have several Minwax products in my workshop from when they were available.

@@BuiltByChris I bought a lot of it in their fire sale. Great minds think alike. I like Minwax stuff, it's a pity they shut up shop in Oz. Still amazed that you had no blotching. Cheers.

That CNC will be a little money spinner for you. A pity that it makes a bit of noise, otherwise you could have it running while you sleep at night 😂

Thanks mate. I could always enclose it with a sound proof booth. And I'm hoping to spin quite a bit of money with it. 👍👍👍👍
