If he doesn't get the players he wants I would think he would be bitterly disappointed and we all know what happens after that. We’re always on the cusp of building something and it gets dismantled. The board are trying so hard to keep the huns in touching distance it’s embarrassing. Precisely! Desmond has held Celtic back for years! Therefore the fans must wise up and stop defending the same old excuse of "prudency". Yes, Lawwell will penny-pinch, as it is in his nature. But he's clearly been following these instructions for years; from whom? Desmond of course. An arrogant man! Just remember how he has responded to the fans over the years-- the failed ten in a row failure. His reason for living is to make money, hoarding as much of it as possible. Typical business mentality. Then there is his treatment of the fans during the covid fiasco. (pro government, pro pharmaceutical corporations, (as he essentially blackmailed fans into taking injections --or they should forget ever attending matches again. Desmond has a similar attitude to our politicians; "I don't give a shit about the opinions of people or fans". He is simply pro share price, pro stock market reputation. However, it is simply amazing how much the majority of the fans accept this! It is time for them to vote with their feet: withdraw funds for merchanise and tickets, and organise serious protest groups to make their voices heard. Desmond wants to "eat his his cake" -- and he also wants to keep it for after --because he's happy to be associated with Celtic's global reputation and gravitas that comes with this link to one of the world's great football clubs ( but is clearly intransigent to any idea of medium to higher spending when the manger is pleading for money to improve the team. On the contrary, he is actively weakening it. Even if they get the Polish lad and the German lad, in short they've only added one midfielder! While Rogers is asking for three to fill the obvious gaps! But as the situation stands, it is quite clear that the football team is merely a 'cash cow '. For two seasons in a row (at the very least) he has dismantled a successful and promising team in order to amass more stocks and shares. Just imagine if he added the mere interest bring accrued in the bank to the team's tight budget twice a year; you'd see more of a high quality player coming in. But Desmond had one thing in mind, and one thing only; inflating share prices and stock-market value. Ange made it very clear in a public interview a few months before he left due to Desmond's lack of ambition: "The strategy that works is to continue adding, and buiding the team up over a few seasons until you reach real CL level". But Ange got short shrift from Desmond. Remember the meeting between Ange and the board, as Desmond flew into Scotland to try and keep that great manager? What was Desmond's strategy? To offer Ange a EPL salary. Ange declined. He was too ambitious. Desmond does not get it! Handing the manager a personal enticement will not satisfy excellent managers! They are in it to achieve in Europe, and compete with the best. Not to mirror Desmond's lack of ambition and simply win the SPL (which has, of course, guaranteed even more UCL money; and pots of it). By looking beyond the daily, and monthly running of the club, I've said for years that DD is the one who places a concrete ceiling over the ambitions of our managers -- and the fans. He is a law unto himself; he is also, by the definition of his mean-fisted actions, this last two seasons alone, a financial parasite. He has been leeching off the club's finances (and the hard earned cash of the fans) for several years now. In that context alone, he has overstayed his welcome!
