They say Griggs was there but in another helicopter and somehow his helicopter survived the nuke

Griggs was part of another unit during this mission. It states that he evacuated to city before the nuke went off. That's why he's present in helping price and his team.

Yet he's assisting an elite FOREIGN group instead of being reassigned to a different unit in the US Marines. Hell, you can at least put him in a shore duty position. I guess Shepard or some other higher up just said "fuck it, hell be alright"😂 But thats just me, at the end of the day I have to remind myself that this is just a video game

Fucking no. “Command” in Cod4 is the same character as “Overlord” in MW2. It’s not Shepard, its Overlord. Overlord and Command are voiced by Glenn Morshower, Shepard is voiced by Lance Henriksen.
