Tom Petty knows when to stand back and let someone else shine. Very humble man. It's Bob Dylan song, Tom's just and added bonus ❤️

They were Dylan’s band for that tour….he did his JOB…Tom had zero ego. Best rock n roll has ever had.

Dylan is so much a legend that he won a Nobel Prize for literature. His poetry is legendary. Dylan is the greatest singer/songwriter of the modern era. To really understand his greatness, I suggest the song, Hard Rain, studio version from mid-60s.

So Dylan wrote this song in 1973 for a western movie called Pat Garret and billy the kid. This live performance was recorded in either 1986 or 87 it’s a completely different sound here to what the album version sounded like the album version was acoustic and his voice was much cleaner it’s like a hymn. So yeah Dylan and Tom petty became good friends. Dylan inspired everyone from the 60s he was a big reason songwriting evolved into something more deeper poetically and abstract.

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers were Bob Dylan's backing band for his tours in the mid-1980s. Check out It's Alright Ma, I'm Only Bleeding - Dylan will blow your mind.

OG Triple OG here…More Dylan please! Subterranean Homesick Blues, It’s Alright Ma I’m Only Bleeding, Like A Rolling Stone, Mr. Tambourine Man, Blowin' In The Wind, Positively 4th Street, Rainy Day Woman, Tangled Up In Blue…OMG there are way too many great Dylan songs to mention here. Extremely deep rabbit hole. In 2016 Bob Dylan won the Nobel Prize for literature for his song lyrics. The man has bars for sure. Dylan started as a folk singer and was heavily involved in the civil rights movement in the 1960's. He’s one of my favorite artists of all time. :) Edit: I forgot to mention a Bob Dylan classic, The Times They Are A-Changing, which is a nod to the 1960's civil rights movement and is a must hear.

I saw this show at Madison Sq Garden when they passed through in 1986. Dylan and the Band were legendary, Dylan and the Dead were historic, Dylan and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers were rocking. Tom Petty had a whole set on their own as well.

bob dylan is considered by many to be the best songwriter ever (the only one with a nobel) there are several other songs of his that I would like to see you react to, such as "hurricane","like a rolling stone","a hard rain is a-gonna fall","i threw it all away" and many others (when you to react to his songs choose the studio version, he usually changes the songs completely when playing live) he and tom petty toured together, they even had a band together "treveling wilburys" (which is worth reacting too), which consisted of George Harrison (the beatles), Jeff Lynne (ELO), Roy Orbison, Bob Dylan and Tom Petty

Well, the harmonica was played in typical 'Bob Dylan style', which, to me, is oftentimes the perfect mixture between sloppiness and brilliance. Here the playing's a bit subdued to fit the song, I guess. You may wish to check out Bob's live performance of 'Mr Tambourine Man' at Newport 1964 or his song 'Every Grain of Sand'; these contain also some nice(r) harmonica playing.

This is Tom Petty singing with Bob Dylan. To hear more songs that they do together check out The Traveling Wilburys. They're a super group comprised of Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, George Harrison, Roy Orbison, and Jeff Lynne. By the way, shout out to the female vocalists, Great sound!

Studio version of Knockin on Heaven's Door was a hit song, hit by Dylan's standard. Dylan was never a 'hit song' producer, just a legend of folk music and later rock. Btw, Dylan is still touring

The harmonica was great! Bob Dylan captured the gravity of the song with that tasty intro. Sloppy it was not. Musicians would understand the emotional subtlety.

If you decide to head down the BD rabbit hole all that popular stuff is fine and good, but if your tastes lean more to the 'edgy', cynical, funny and even downright 'mean'.... give Tombstone Blues a spin....."the suns not yellow....its chicken".
