Is the 2020 BMW M8 Competition a BETTER sports car than a Porsche 911?

I leased a 2020 BMW M8 Comp last month. I enjoy every bit of the driving experience with this car so far. Performance ☑️ Good looking ☑️ Fabulous Sound ☑️ You really can’t ask for more. And the best thing is the driving modes it has are so different. You basically get three cars with within one ultimate machine !

I am considering an M8, upgrading from an M4. Unfortunately no one has one for me to test drive. Is it worth blind buying? All the new Ms with the new kidney grilles are disappointing. Is it a good daily driver? And more importantly, does it have a manual adjustable lumbar support? The competition version of Ms don’t have them because of those ZCP seats. I have a bad back and this is an important feature.

@@myanimals7145 well keep in mind the car depreciates a lot. If you are not too worried about that then buy a M8 should be a good choice for you. Now I believe dealers have a good discount on these M8 & M8 Comp. Yes the car has lumbar support. As to a daily driver the car is okay, compared to M4 the car is bit smaller inside. And the back seat is almost impractical for anyone taller than 5’6.

This is not my dream car, I planned on getting another M4, until they changed it. Now I’m scrambling to find an alternative before my lease ends. At least it’s good to know there is adjustable lumbar. I passed on the competition because it didn’t have those. It’s very unique and glad you love yours.

My mother in law got this M8 competition in the convertible. It’s a fucking speed boat on the street! 😂 For that much money I would’ve thought it would be a hardtop convertible, but I can see why the went with the rag top. The are so heavy as is.

Very nice review. Picked one up last week, my seventh M car and so far the most engaging since my e60 M5. In between an e92 M3 LRP, f82 M4, F80 M3, and a G82 M4. His obversations are spot on. My previous M3s and M4s were agile and quick. The M8 is planted and fast. I'm old so a GT is meets my needs.

I had a 1991 bmw 850i in 2009 had it for a few years always had cooling issues with that car went to the dealer multiple times for recalls for The radiators sold at six years later for 19,500 with 45,000 miles on it also it was a six speed fun little car when working

I never sat in one to know if this sticker price is worth it. But, it has the same engine and power as a M5 competition with a sticker price of over 40k less, with more practicality. I really want to know why BMW is so subtle with their M cars and their exhausts. Makes me look at AMG over M cars.

30 years of 911 ownership.. I have switch to BMW exclusively with the introduction of the M2 Competition,M8 and X5 M50. After many test drives of the new 992, I feel Porsche has lost its edge and BMW seems to be more aggressive and driver focused. Porsche in general feels like its resting on its reputation of yesteryear. I feel very qualified to technically compare the two brands. Build quality and tech is just higher in the BMW over Porsche. BMW engine and exhaust is just sanage over the Porsche in general model to model. Porsche feels like they are selling the brand to non motor enthusiast that don't know any better.

The BMW 8 series is an S class coupe competitor. It is 100% a GT car. They call it a gentleman's racer, which is honestly the best description for the class. This thing will never see a track, but will dominate the street. In convertible form this is the kind of car I would drive down the California coast for hours on end. Its big, heavy, solid, powerful. It won't get blown around and it will be incredibly comfortable to drive. Although personally I would just grab the normal inline 6 version since once again this will never see a track and the street performance of the non M will be much better, and the extra fuel economy will get you farther down that coast in one tank.

BMW makes great vehicles, I own an M6 (predecessor to this M8). Great car for sure and possibly superior to a Carrera in many ways, but if compared to the upper echelon 911s...Turbo S or GT2/3 RS (not to mention a Cup car or RSR)...it's not even in the conversation.

Great Car, No Doubt, with a very rich history, and racing heritage, but for some dumb reason, BMW's, are not for Me. Nice subliminal touch on the left front wheel description! Needs more of a competition rear spoiler. GT-R type look, same with a more prominent front splitter. Cup Holder, Power point area, looks cramped... Steering wheel should be flat bottomed, IMO. What are the red buttons on the steering wheel for? Specialty buttons? There were some subliminal Zonks! Fold down seats? If there's a rear seat, why didn't you get back there? 😁 Great detailed review, on this one, Joe! I'd fit better in the BMW, than the Porsche, though. That was sure a longer than normal test drive!
