Just bought my 2020 SEL Escape. Love the ride and the pep. Stupid hood prop. Pretty decent sound system. No accommodations for cargo nets in the back - not happy about that. With the wide mirrors, it’s a bit tight getting into single door garage. Front seats sit high. Heated steering wheel is a nice treat. First automatic transmission for me in 34 years - this 8 speed is nice. Definitely recommend this car.

A mechanic at my Ford dealership told me a while back that a lot of the engines in the 2013 - 2019 Escapes were self destructing at 20,000 miles. Wasn't too pleased to hear that. My 2007 Escape XLT V6 has given me minimal problems and still runs like a champ to this day. The 2020 model is smaller, ground clearance is almost non-existent and it now has a standard three cylinder engine (bad idea) with an optional turbo 4-cylinder. With that being said, however, hopefully Ford will keep their promise with the upcoming Bronco because that's likely what I'll be getting to replace my current Escape down the line.

Currently owning a 2017 titanium Awd with a 2.0 EcoBoost. I love my Escape. It drives and rides like a car. I was shopping for a sedan and test drove the Escape. It was an easy selection. Regarding the 2020. I think it's definitely a home run. I really like the body lines and the new interior. The technology is improved from prior models like Copilot and Copilot 360. Thus the price increase. I'm on the list for a test drive as soon as they hit the lot. I disagree with you regarding plastic around the heater controls. Durability of soft material in some areas would be a wear issue like finger nails and just daily use. it's a small SUV. I don't find it an issue opening the back door to fold seats. It's simply lifting a lever and the 60-40 seats lay flat. The same applies to the rear vents not having controls. I'm guessing there's a rotary knob to open and close the vents. it better than some vehicles that have under the seat vents. I completely agree that the hood should have struts instead of a prop rod. If it drives and rides as good as it looks. I'll be driving one home. Thanks for the fantastic review. After watching I'm even more excited about seeing and driving the new Escape. Just wondering. You mentioned Fusion grill. I see some Mustang.

Sorry, I'm taking this out on you, but I've had it with reviewers (many of you do this). The rear seat back down does NOT fold flat, it's close, but NOT flat. I dare you to lay a long mirror across that seat back, guaranteed first bump will end in a broken mirror (7 years bad luck?). Again, I apologize for going off on that, but that is a huge "zonk" in my book. Anyway, thanks for making the video.

Ok, as an Electrical systems engineer I have to correct you about transmissions. The Hybrid uses a eCVT similar to the fusion hybrid, not an 8 speed. The plug in vehicle doesn't have a transmission. It uses an EREV architecture similar to the Chevy Volt, where motors directly drive the vehicle, and an engine is present only to charge the battery as a backup generator. I'm going to get the plug in, because I prefer electric drive.

I would like to know if the Escape has a spare tire. I think there should be one. And what about gas mileage and what type of octane fuel does it require.
@RaitisRides5 жыл бұрын
Yes it does

You can run 87 in all of them. The 2.0 Ecoboost can run on 87 for normal driving.

I don't know if anyone is cross shopping fiesta/focus segment and escape. Escape is much more expensive. Ford is losing out on the entry level new car market imo.

I would say this fills more the focus/fusion customer where the Ecosport is for the fusion/focus entry level customers. It would have been a better deal starting under $23k. I just don’t think they stepped it up enough interior wise. I will say I think the drivetrain selection has always been the escapes bread and butter.

T hey will never top the 2nd generation escapes.. many escape buyers loved the truck feel of 2nd gen escapes.. not the fat focus feel

It's rumoured that Ford will be releasing a tougher looking crossover on the same platform in 2020. Hopefully it'll impress in looks (it's been called a mini Bronco)

Most likely cause they are from the same platform, just like the last generation, they purposely made this more carlike, as they will have a more off road capable vehicle that so far has been nicknamed "baby Bronco" from the same platform, lot more square shaped and a bit more ground clearance.

Once dealers get the 2020 Escapes in, would like to see a comparison between the new 1.5L 3 Cyl. Turbo versus the 2.0L 4 Cyl. Turbo engines. I currently have a 2017 with the 2.0L engine. Really like it but 1.5L intrigues me.

This really is the best review of this car that I've seen. I've got a 2018 Escape and I've been wondering if I'm going to like the 2020. I feel a lot better about leasing the 2020 now that I've seen this video.

Another great review Joe! I agree with others that it looks much better in person than in pictures, but I just don't understand why American car makers keep cheaping out on little stuff. Kia/Hyundai are killing them on interior amenities/materials for either the same price or less. And don't even get me started on that prop rod!
@jayhawker035 жыл бұрын
Oh my lord, did Ford actually make the battery easy to access in the Escape. This is a huge accomplishment for sure lol. Sarcasm aside it does look great, the engine seems to be a little disappointing, the escape has only seen an increase of 10hp in 10 years (2009 V6 had 240hp and averaged 20mpg in AWD). It just seems like the age of the quick crossover and it would have been nice for a little more.

I have see pictures and videos before. And I like the back a lot. The front looks like it's not finished designed. Not interested in the rims. Even if they look nicely machined.

It could be a hit. You can get a nicly equiped AWD Honda or Subaru for about 30K. If the same hold true for the Escape, it will be a great success.

Was that a full size spare in the trunk of that Escape?

Why does this look like a hopped up Focus? The last gen had a bit more distinction compared to the Focus. This one is all-rounded which makes it look odd. But hey, I guess it'll sell because it's a crossover.

It has a power sunscreen. With it closed, you'll never know you have a glass roof. My Edge has a full glass roof and I spend a lot of time in Florida. When it's hot and sunny. I keep the glass roof closed along with the sunshade. The dark look is from it's tint.

Actually the Escape & Mazda small SUVs are generally considered best of all avail currently. Escape has most motor options tho. I'm sold on EcoBoost! Ppl w/ F150s (3.5L Ecoboost) are reporting over 300k mis w/gen 1 designs!

@@Davido50 I have a 2014 Escape 1.6T and it's been a very good vehicle for my family. There have been many small but noticeable QC issues though, but engine and transmission are solid, and fuel economy has been quite good (11.2km/L ~26 mpg over 2k kms), which I've heard is higher than gas Toyota RAV4s. Surprised me.

I like the way my 2019 looks. I ended up having to look up what my 2019 is and it's a cross over as well I'm not going to be looking at any new SUVs for about 6 years give or take a little bit more than likely will go with another escape or explorer. The downside though is my current escape has the intelligent 4wd and the new escape only comes with an AWD or Front-wheel drive from what I am gathering. I don't know how well their AWD works but my 4wd works amazing in the snow.

Not a homerun. More like a double. It’s strange to see a white third brake light. I thought they had to be red. I think that’s a first for me. Maybe because it’s a pre-production model? Would like to see a top of the line model when it’s available. Good job Joe! 👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸
