Mind if I ask why you refer to it as a "little 900cc bike"? It seems you really like it, but this bike is damn fast and beats more bikes out there in terms of speed, let alone the maneuverability. To me this is definitely not a "little" bike, so I was just wondering. Great video.

I refer to it that way because I was comparing it to large cruiser bikes that are much heavier, and I agree the MT09 is a monster on the street and has more than enough power and torque for street use and is far more comfortable that a sport bike with similar power. It is a great bike and I have loved riding it!

Very nice review! I weigh 220 lbs and I find the suspension generally good and safe unlike previous model's. Although I want to try a better aftermarket one. Any preference?

I do like what ohlins has done with the sp model but I have yet to try any aftermarkets systems yet. And the kyb that is used on the R1 is a good suspension for hard riding but not as smooth as the stock setup.

I would like to know can we drop the front light unit 4 inch lower to make it looks like a bike and not a grasshopper

I have not seen anybody do it yet but I can only imagine that it is possible with enough fabrication.

Hi, i am 40 and very new to riding. However, the MT09 SP is my prefered first bike as its got all that I want in a bike as against my second option of the Trident 660 Would you be kind enough to let me know what it feels like riding in Mode4 (rain mode). My intention is to keep it that mode till i gain the riding confidence to move up. I havent seen any detailed information about riding in rain mode. So far I understand mode 4 dampens the power to somewhere even below that of MT07. Appreciate your reveiws. Keep up the good work

so I was in a similar situation when I got this bike, I had rode a Honda cb300 for around 6 months before I moved up to the MT09. I started in rain mode and I do not believe it limits power but I will have to look into it a lot more. I do know that it changes the throttle response and does not allow you to get to full power, it also turns up all of the rider aids and does not allow you to slide the bike, wheelie, or do anything crazy. personally I would recommend the MT09 over the Aprillia due to the comfort of the bike and the ability to change your power modes and use all the power further in the future when you become more comfortable on the bike. I do think the MT will offer more wind protection with the right windscreen

I ended up buying the Trident. Will upgrade next year. Love it though

that windshield, does ti help ?
@Builtmoto2 жыл бұрын
yes it helps quite a lot until around 100 mph, at that point the wind starts to hit my helmet pretty hard

I'm also very excited for a possible R9.. crossing my fingers..

If it is anything like what Yamaha did with the R7 we will likely hear about it in early 2022 with the first few bikes arriving in the summertime.

Nice video.. do you use the akrapovic titanium exhaust ? With d -killer or not ?
@Builtmoto2 жыл бұрын
I have the akrapovic carbon system without the catalytic converter and without the db killer

My only complaint is the fuel gauge doesn’t tell you anything until it’s half gone.
@Builtmoto2 жыл бұрын
I agree but it does give you a good bit of time from a half a tank until it is empty

I know and that is pathetic

Hey I got an mt07 last year and I have an opportunity to get a 21 mt09 do you think the performance upgrade is worth the trade in? I like the MT07 but it feels lacking in tech / dash / power. I’m also about 230 and 6’1” so I dwarf the 7 a bit
@Builtmoto2 жыл бұрын
It is soo worth it! I have rode the new 07 and compared to my 09 it is night and day! I am 6 foot and 210 lbs and as you can see from all my videos the bike has more power than I know what to do with! And the quick shifter is amazing and the new dash is amazing! The fuel economy is not quite as good but it excels in everything else!

I have a friend who’s has a 21 MT09 too but all he talks about is getting an MT10.
@Builtmoto2 жыл бұрын
it is a very considerable option! the MT10 has all the fun of the 09 just with more power and more electronics

There really exists such a thing as "overkill" on a street bike. I had a busa for 17 years and while it was an amazing bike it was deep into the realm of overkill for street use which actually detracts from it's fun and enjoyment from the riding experience.
