Is the 2022 Hyundai Elantra N Line a BETTER sport sedan than a Kia Forte GT?

I was looking at NLine and Forte GT and the GT was the no brainer. It has a lot of small things you talked about Joe that the other 2 don’t have like a flat bottom steering wheel, LED turn signals in the front, dual exhaust outback, usb and air vents in the back seat as well as a back passenger pocket too. Even the Si doesn’t have some of those things as well. I got a 23 GT 6Speed manual that’s really fun to drive especially in sport mode. Very happy with my purchase. Great review Mr. Raiti !

#sameteam, I love my '21 Forte GT manual. I looked really hard at the Civic Si, Elantra N-Line, and Forte GT. I really like the exterior of the Elantra, but the Forte is just as good(overall) while I greatly prefer the interior of the Forte GT. I feel like all three are great cars for the money and it comes down to personal preference.

I have a 2021 Forte GT. You get waaay more for your money. I have the GT2 package. Also, the Forte is also consistently quicker and has a higher end top speed. It may have something to with different gearing or limiter compared to the Hyundai. I've gotten mine up to 138mph stock. Forums have claim the fun ends around 140ish. Which isn't bad for a lightweight 201hp car😎.

I have a 2022 N Line in black (same as in the video) and I love it. The styling looks much nicer in person and I personally like it better than the Forte GT. It's quick (not crazy fast), but quick enough. Also gets great gas mileage. On long drives, I've gotten up to 46 mpg and average around 42-43 mpg when I'm not hooning it. More power is always nice, but on a practical level, you only need so much to drive to work and back. And I don't really mind 1 inch smaller info screen because it has Android Auto/Apple carplay which works very well. Also comes with a fantastic warranty and free maintenance for 3 years.

I hear you. :) I went the other way and got a '22 Kia Forte GT (with the GT2 pkg). Although I personally love the Forte GT style vs. the Elantra, I agree completely with your practical points. I don't get free maint.; but I adore the huge 10.25" screen, which looks beautiful, and has proved it's worth on a long drive. The Elantra N Line and Forte GT/GT2 are a great middle ground between uninsurable excess and affordable fun. I love the DCT vs. the manual-only Civic SI. As much as I love the purity of a manual, and have a soft spot for Hondas, I walk 8 miles a day on cement for my job. I don't want to drive home peddling a clutch. I've had nicer cars (I traded a '19 Mazda CX-5 Turbo for my Kia), but the Forte GT2/Elantra N Line are a nice sweet spot. I think a lot of other review sites are maybe a little spoiled (especially Motor Trend). The Elantra N Line and Forte GT2 are just too good to believe for the price. It really comes down to taste, and the Koreans have the value/quality/price equation so nailed that I got more car than a middle-spec BMW 2-series for less than $28k. Think that through for a second. :)

Just got a 2023 in white and with the black accents, spoiler and the tires really make the white car pops. I've only had it for about 5 days, and it gets lots on looks and comments. I looked at the black and it really subdues the style and lines. I guess I just like the body design. The inside of the 2023 really came with some nice upgrades to the dashboard. Overall great car coming from a 2014 Sonata 2.0t.

@Marko Lar Forte GT2 package is definitely worth it, its maxed trim... has everything you can think of! It's a pretty good car especially for long drives and saves you a ton of gas as a daily driver. With my Forte GT driving 1800 miles I got about 35-38+ MPG on 87 gas Normal/Sport mode. With my Elantra N driving 1000 miles I got about 33-35> MPG on 91 gas ECO mode. I think I feel I have more room in the Forte GT for some reason but the EN hugs you and keeps you planted on turns with little to no body roll, while the GT you can feel it but in a fun way I guess? only thing that has to go is the stock Kumuho.

I got the 22 in the fluid metal color back in January and I blacked out the Hyundai logos including the one on the steeringwheel and Elantra lettering. Left the badges alone. Also ordered a badge to put on the rear. I love it. Sadly my arthritis is too bad to have it in manual, but that dct is pretty nice. Turning off the traction control also ads a some fun to it. I really do enjoy this car.

The Forte GT styling (both pre-facelift and facelift) will age better than the Elantra N Line. The Elantra N Line looks fantastic rn imo, but it is too edgy to last the test of time. Forte GT styling is more balanced

Top notch review as usual! I just bought an Elantra N and I absolutely love everything about it except the seats. Being a bigger than average human, they’re a little confining. I was really curious what the N-Line seats were like because I may need to look into swapping seats at some point if they don’t break-in enough to be comfortable for me. Unfortunately from your video I see the drivers side is electric, so I don’t think that’s gonna be an option. Oh well. Ok enough rambling, I still love the damn car. It’s just so fun and an absolute beast!

I picked up one of these about 6 weeks ago in Lava Orange and I love it so far; fun to drive and the color/styling always puts a smile on my face. Previous car was a rust bucket 2010 Fusion and the tech, power and dct of the N Line is just leagues ahead of that so it's good enough for me, the 10-12 extra mpg doesn't hurt either lol.

We bought an Elantra SEL about one month ago and my average MPG yesterday was 57.6. We left the gas station, drove 20 miles or so, and only dropped a few miles to empty. I just traded my big Chevy traverse because we put 500+ miles on our car a week and the gas savings has been incredible.

Great video! I have the exact same model car, same color...but it's a 2021 model year (nothing changed in 2022) with a 6 speed manual transmission. I agree with the great features you highlighted and the "Zonks!" The Elantra N Line is a very fun car and really enjoy the performance and fuel economy. A few things that I wanted to point out that you missed in your video. The Elantra N Line has wireless Apple Play and Android Auto. Also, compared to the Civic SI, the Elantra N line is about $2k-$4K cheaper and has 10yr warranty. Between the Elantra N Line and the Forte GT, the Kia will win in value. However, to your point, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Personally, I like the Elantra N Line looks more than the Forte GT.... even though the Forte GT has bigger infotainment display, rear vents/USB, and better sound system. However, Kia Forte GT is made in Mexico versus Elantra N Line which is made in Korea. That was a big NO for me on the Kia. Also, Hyundai provides the 3-year free maintenance where Kia does not. The Si and Forte GT are great cars and you can't go wrong with any of them. IMHO, the Elantra N Line is the right car for me.

I have the 2023 Kia Forte GT2 Turbo 🎉🎉🎉 and I like it more than the Hyundai N line , the Forte GT2 has more goodies for the same price and way cheaper than the Honda Civic SI that I think is overpriced if you want a fully loaded Honda Civic SI you will pay at least 7k more than the Forte GT2 and they have the same HP , there's plenty of aftermarket parts for the Forte GT2 and easily you can add another 80 HP without braking the bank 🏧😊

I have the 23 N line in black, got it exactly 4 months ago and put about 4500 miles on it, its not bad of a car. I did a muffler delete and it sounds much better, the DCT farts are my favorite. Thinking of doing a resonator delete as well but might be too loud. With the muffy D, it is already pretty loud since the muffler was so big. I dont have those tailights which is a bummer and wireless charging, which i dont get why i dont have.

Hey Raiti, did you notice hyundai stopped selling diesels as soon as diesel gate started? You should remind buyers of the number of hidden recalls and loaner cars you may have to deal with. I warned my family and they are now doing oil consumption tests before getting the replacement motors (which will have the same issues). I think it's fair to mention. You rule!

I'd take any Hyundai/Kia infotainment over the crap in the Civic every time. Who cars if it's 8" vs 9"? Honda's software is awful, H/K has it down pretty well and everything works quite well. And wireless CarPlay in every implementation I've tried is a clusterfarkle and I would take wired over wireless every time too.

Here is my thoughts, Ive owned a 17 focus st and 19 civic si, so ive experienced the competition. I recently picked up a 2023 Forte GT non gt2 car. Now imma break this down for you guys trying to decide which one to get. If you want the powertrain, manual trans and sunroof only and don't care for anything else, buy the N line, it's much cheaper than the forte gt, the forte gt has manual as a near $900 option and the sunroof is only available on the GT2 package per my research. If you want the DCT, I'd opt for the forte gt, it's cheaper than pairing it with the hyundai and imo, again, in my opinion is the better looking car both interior and exterior. Either car is great, but it comes down to what you want and your budget is. I went with the forte gt as it looks good and wanted the automatic. I also wanted the sunroof really bad, but I got lucky on a new 2023 gt they needed to get rid of(07/31 clearing the lot) and they got me into the car for under msrp no markups or extra bs. Drive both, check them out and go with what you think is right. The forte gt has been WAY more enjoyable and fun to drive than my 10th gen civic si or my focus st was. I'm loving the DCT!

Both this and the forte have plenty of hard plastic. However, for a sedan with not fast but fun to drive performance and a dct, can you really beat either for just under 27k? I've driven a couple Forte GT's and with a 0-60 in around 6 1/2 seconds and nice handling, it's a fun daily driver.

For the price used or new, and what you get, it out performs the Civic SI in my opinion. The Civic SI used to be a good middle ground Budget friendly sporty car but now the pricing of them are getting ridiculous used and new. For the price of a Civic SI, or a little more depending if you're looking at used or new N series, you can get the actual N series from Hyundai which is crazy. Hyundai is the new Sports Budget minded car. Of course a lot more features may come with an SI than the N-Line but you definitely pay a lot more to get those features for similar performance. The Civic SI is a great car but with how pricing is going on with Honda currently you just get more bang for your buck with Hyundai.

Tbh I think Hyundai should only make the standard and the N. They shouldn't do N and N line, one is enough. Because it's simple if you want a Hyundai you should go high high with the N, or go low low with the standard 2.0. I don't feel there should be one in between especially when buying a Hyundai. Lol

It really is nifty little ride if you're doing a lot of driving and willing to sacrifice some power and performance. But have to say impressed with its options, mpg. and performance for what it is a 4CYL/Turbo and its MSRP. Still though, I would have to go with the Toyota Camry TRD pkg.

I got a 2020 Forte GT with the GT1 package (cooled seats, dual zone AC, Harman Kardon Audio) and it’s a better value than a Elantra N Line, totally. $26k and more features than the Elantra N.

The premium model ( we call it the Hyundai i30 n-line premium sedan in Australia) is 100% better than the Kia GT (cerato) We get here in Australia and it has the same interior as the N sedan.. nobody needs a limited slip differential unless you're going over the speed limit / track driving. This car isn't a racing car. It's a comfortable daily with more than enough power. Not everyone wants to get a N sedan... They ride way too stiff for day to day. Personally I prefer the n-line exterior to the N as well which looks over styled

They need to put an LSD in this and maybe more agressive gearing on both transmissions for better performance. I think this car is in a good spot. The Si not having heated seats or an automatic and being as slow as a non-Si 10th gen civic sedan makes no sense. This car is an econobox with decent performance that anyone can buy and be happy with.

The drive mode button should be under the infotainment screen centered and that panel then removed for the drive mode button area. That handle also shouldn’t be there and removed too, looks out of place and inconvenient, really hate those handles too, they don’t look good.

So the N Line is this, that, but without the other. It’s the kit without the kaboodle lol. It’s decent car for a new young driver. It’s kinda like me, takes a while to get going. Personally I’d go Civic SI. Thanks for the review Joe and nice job Steven! 👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸
