The NEW Altima Midnight Edition is here for 2022 & Nissan is bringing the blacked out theme. On the outside you will see a blacked out grill, special wheels, fog lamps and rear spoiler. On the inside you will be greeted by zero gravity seats, and 8in infotainment system, and orange stitching. Under the hood is a 2.5L inline 4 that produces 182HP & is mated to a CVT. Nice review bro. I have a 2008 Altima SL with 146k and a 2008 Armada LE with 192k. I have to say that both of them until this date, have never been to the dealer for any problems with transmission or engine. Just regular maintenance. Can’t be happier with the service Nissan have given me and my family so far. As long you keep up with the maintenance it requires, you will have a reliable car for years to come.

Good in-depth review as always! I have a 2020 Super Black version of the SR. In my second year now, runs like a charm and seems to always turn heads with its handsome good looks. The Sport model is a must with the sport tuned suspension and 19 inch rims. The car looks and feels more expensive than it is. Overall, great daily commuter and has outstanding fuel economy! I'm averaging 40-45 mpg highway with the front wheel drive version. The CVT in this generation is much improved. I had a 2011 Altima for 9+ years and the difference is notable.

I like the way they kept that blind spot light inside the cabin abd and not on the mirror, when there's too much snow or its difficult to see the mirror of fog, it helps a little bit nice. And awd seems good, but the elephant in the room is that cvt, no idea how reliable they have become nowadays.

I have always said if Nissan ever sort the transmission issues out, They'd have no competitors in the car market. Most of their vehicles, no matter the size, often look better than the competition. Its just that darn CVT that they just cant seem to get right

They are moving from that weak steel shim belt in the CVT to interlinking chains with better transmission oil pumps. 2022 Rogue is the test bed for the VC-Turbo 3 cylinder and the new CVT-X

U let the car warm up for a minute or 2. Then take it easy for first 5mins. Flush the tranny fluid every 20k. Don't constantly drive it hard. That all goes a long way.

Actually with Nissan, this is a 'one and done' type of model, the Altima never had a midnight edition in their lineup. All the other Nissan "Midnight" editions are discontinued, as per the Nissan site.

I love my Altima 2022 SR. It is quite inside. The only thing that makes me nervous is the CVT transmission, and hoping that the pully will not snaps. However, I do not launch my vehicle like a drag racers. I watch many videos on how to take good care of a CVT transmissions. I suggest you guys watch it too.

I wish they had the midnight package for the VCTURBO 😩.. but I traded my 19 Accord EXL in for the 21 SR 2.0 VC-turbo and I love how smooth and responsive it is. The Accord was responsive but responded slower compared to the Altima.

Just rented one from the dealership as my car is still in the shop. I can tell you, it rides pretty well and left an impression, great MPG, soft suspensions, probably the most comfortable seats I've sat on, tech is kind of lacking but that's ok, I average 38MPG and get 41MPG on the highway. The only thing that is stopping me from buying one is the CVT issues. If Nissan can partner or move away from JATCO I would buy one.

I do like that they still offer a naturally aspirated engine for longevity over one with forced induction and the interior isn’t bad. Very minimalistic looking which I like, but Nissan has really fallen off over the years. Between the CVTs and the very outdated exterior designs I didn’t even consider one this past summer. I really hope they make a comeback over the next couple years with some standard transmissions and updated redesigns. I Ultimately ended up with a fully loaded 2021 Camry XSE and couldn’t be happier.

People buy what they can afford and although Camry is very nice, their prices are becoming ridiculous. Not everyone wants to lease their ride; some of us would actually like to buy to own. Toyotas are nice but don't try to convince me that a reasonable Camry is really worth the close to 50K price tag. The Nissan Altima is reasonably nice looking, comes with many nice features and is more reasonably priced. Don't tell me about the CVT transmission either because both Honda and Toyota have CVTs and they have their problems as well. People are struggling to feed their families in the United States and there's no way that an everyday family ride should be 50K. I would definitely consider taking a look at this Nissan Altima Midnight Edition. There's no way that I'm going to buy a Toyota Camry for 50K. Toyota's pricing is extortion.

Accord...reliable, smooth lines, great handling. Camry...über reliable, classy lines, comfortable ride. Altima...Beautiful design, poor resale value, historically strong engines, but poor transmissions. The JATCO CVT can never be compared to a Honda, or Toyota CVT. The JATCO is junk. The others are totally reliable.

Not true. My wife’s 2017 Corolla cvt just failed completely at 109,000 km. And guess what Toyota did for her…..nothing. Was 4500 for a refurb here in Canada. We will never buy CVT or Toyota ever again.

I have this 2022 nissan altima midnight edition, I love it. It's a great car. I had a 2020 altima SL , and it was fully loaded with everything, and I liked it much , much more. Unfortunately, it was totaled , and I had to buy a new one, so the midnight edition was presented to me, so I took it. Overall a great car, just wish it had more options. Everyone loves the look! I have the white on black .. it's a head turner for sure.

I've owned about 6 vehicles in my life, nothing crazy or exotic, but THE best, most trouble free, was a 2007 Nissan Altima 6 cylinder.........with the CVT transmission, no less. Car runs like a Swiss timepiece and THE coldest A/C I've ever experienced in an automobile. I take damn good care of my vehicles. Oil, tires, brakes, and changing the CVT fluid, that's it. Never a problem. I (regrettably) sold it in August, with 155,000 miles on it..........to a mechanic, at a shop down the street. Mechanic drives it to work every day. A lot of people say, "Nissan doesn't make 'em like they used to." Perhaps, but WHO does? I've owned 3 Nissan's, and they've ALL been very good to me. I'm not happy that Nissan has abandoned the off-road capable SUV market in North America, and Toyota is a better all-around automaker, however, Nissan's VQ series engines are THE BUSINESS!

Toyota has an 8 speed torque converted automatic in the Nightshade trim. The ECVT is only in the Hybrid spec'd versions. They just started offering the nightshade trim in the hybrid for 22.

I used to love, Maximas, and Altimas growing up in the 80’s, and 90’s. However, it seems like Nissan has gone downhill over the years in quality, and I’d never purchase one now. Additionally, these cars have become synonymous with people that have bad credit, low income, live in mediocre/bad neighborhoods, shady criminal records, and they are readily available in car rental lots. The stigma is too much to overcome. Awesome review as usual, Joe!

I thought that was with all cars, and the Altima to me is driven by a lot of woman and old people. That’s my take on the Altima. I’ve seen a couple of young people driven this model around but I don’t know them personally so I can’t say. The Altima and Maxima to me are cars liked a lot by few definitely not overrated and differently enough to be liked. Everyone likes the Camry I noticed on the internet. Plus people who bash on Nissan Sedans never liked them from the jump from my experience

@@Sl1pstreams Brian, I own my vehicles. I understand how it all works financially. Don’t need the lesson from an Altima owner. It doesn’t change my original statement. I’m happy you payed cash for your, Altima. That still doesn’t change the fact that you now own a popular rental vehicle. A vehicle that is marketed to people who are not financially responsible. Nissan dealerships offers loans to people that don’t even have a $100 emergency fund. I’m also confused by someone that supposedly payed cash for their vehicle, seemingly isn’t smart enough to realize that there are better practical, and affordable vehicles out there. I’m scratching my head on that one, and I pause at your claim of paying cash for one. In the end though, you do you, Brian.

So this is a nice looking car and I agree why they put so much chrome on the outside on a midnight edition. Also I wish they blacked out the Nissan badge also in the front but the heartburn on buying this car Nissan is always the CVT system. 👎🏾

You have poor taste if you say the Camry looks better than the Altima. Aside from the Mazda 6, the Altima is the most sleek looking and beautiful midsize sedan. The Camry is more outdated and frumpy looking like a whale with that huge ugly front grill.

@@odnamorvr3053 The fact that the Camry FINALLY has a panoramic roof option and Nissan don't with the Altima, speaks volume. Nissan almost went bankrupt because their CEO was stealing money from the company. That is why Nissan has fallen off as a brand. They tried to redeem itself. But got some serious damage control to do. There's a few things I don't like about the Camry. I think their infotainment looks dated. But if I have to choose, I'll go with Camry. One is because I can get a panoramic roof like most luxury cars and not CVT!

I bought a 97' Altima SE (the last year of the first generation) and drove it for five years. I loved that car and it was actually fun to drive for a mid-sized sedan back then. I miss the days when Nissan actually had the sporty edge over the competition 😕

For some reason I was never a fan of the egg shaped 1993-97 Altima, at least not at the XE or GXE trims. However, the SE and GLE trims were pretty decent looking. 1998-2001 models didn't look any better.
