Just purchased a 2013 Malibu LT in white with black interior. Plenty of power, Rides smooth, Very quiet and smooth ride. Spacious and comfortable interior. Gauges and features are easily accessible. Very economical both in price and gas mileage is excellent. I have nothing bad to say abut this car and am extremely happy with my purchase.

Great review with test drive included - not all have that. I rented a 2022 Malibu back in August and instantly fell in love with it - so much to the point I just had to have one. So I have the Riverside Blue Metallic 1LT on order awaiting its arrival. For the 10 days I was driving the rented Malibu was totally impressed not only with its smoothness of handling but the gas mileage as well - it was getting 39 MPG on the highway each day I drove it. and as far as the 1.5L engine - it has plenty of power - comparable to my 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix with its V6 3800 engine - there was no difference in power handling on straight ways or climbing hills - it's all it needs. A larger engine would burn more gas, who wants that. Looking forward for its arrival and I will post a short review, including the drive when I receive it.

I just purchase a 2020 malibu LT yesterday and love it. I'm not crazy about the rear view window because I am 5' 6"inch and it's hard to see I suppose I just have to get use to it this being said I see very little different from the 2020 LT and that of a 2023 very nice styling.

This is a great review. I love the chevy Malibu, I wish chevy made more sedans because I like them better than the foreign cars, of course. I especially like how the engine sounds when driving its not to light or noisy but you can kind of hear that good roar when accelerating, which I prefer.

Recently bought a 2022, same trim, same color, just got it with a sunroof and the 18" wheels. Bought it because I can't stand the "nanny features" that they have added to cars that make them stop themselves and don't let you change lanes and on the 2022 Malibu those were all optional and thankfully I didn't get them. Car stickered for $29.245, dealer discount was $2,245 so i was taxed on $27,000 flat, then Chevrolet had a $500 rebate, wife is a teacher, so I got another $500 rebate, and I also own a 2021 Toyota Prius Prime, so I got a conquest rebate of $750. Out the door it was $27,410 including 8% tax. These days, that's a hell of a deal, and there's no other midsize sedan I could have gotten with the features for that price; definitely the best bang for your buck in the segment. As an American, I also like the intrinsic benefit I get from knowing that an American union employee built the car, an American small business sold it to me and ultimately an American corporation profited from the sale.
@SN-cb9xj
@SN-cb9xj 6 ай бұрын
Yep. And that American corporation buys tons of its parts from China and invests heavily in foreign factories.
@brianthomas2839
@brianthomas2839 6 ай бұрын
@@SN-cb9xj No doubt, but as the North American parts content of a 2022 Malibu is about 3/4th North American and both the engine and the transmission are made specifically in America, I'm pretty happy with my choice. No car company is 100% American or foreign anymore. However, as an American I think it's a good thing to "Buy American", and with the 2022 Malibu, I think I made as good of a choice as I could. Aren't a lot of midsize sedans anymore, and I can't think of one that's more American than the Malibu.
@SN-cb9xj
@SN-cb9xj 6 ай бұрын
If you do your research, you will find that the Malibu isn't even in the top ten of the "most American made cars." In fact, the Malibu is at spot 74, and that's well behind the Accord (spot 11) and the Camry (spot 26). Google the "American Made Index" for more information. I'm glad you love your car but let's not fool ourselves into thinking it benefits our country anymore than buying a quality car from Honda or Toyota. Not as cheap as the Malibu, but I'd bet the house it lasts twice as long. @@brianthomas2839

I believe it definitely offers it’s best bang for your buck . Why I answer it because we fell in love with the way it drives . Very safe . It’s features the back up camera . Very cheap on gas with $35 I fill gas tank up verses my Volkswagen Passat it takes me $55 to fill gas tank up. It’s super comfortable and smooth to drive has the perfect amount of technology esp for even the older generations that r not computer savvy . Has blue tooth has many ways to charge your phone . It’s a safe car not to small so much space in the back comfortable for trips . I went to see Toyotas which I love and Hondas and their price was so much more . This car for being brand new is definitely affordable we paid $25k for it about 3 months ago . We put 10k down and r financing the rest although they did offer me just to put 1k down and finance the rest but I want to pay the car off asap so I went with ten k down owing now 15 k. So if u don’t have. A large deposit u can still get it . I think compare to the car rates after this crazy pandemic and inflation and recession is a great choice of car to buy the price was right and worth it . Compare to all the other cars I couldn’t even get a new car for 25k these days we r living in. And I never thought I would do Chevy . I have owned Toyotas , but they r pricey now , Mercedes’ , which don’t recommend, anything that breaks down anything small u r looking at 2 k at least to fix something simple , I owned Cherokees, and fords and I currently own a Volkswagen… I’m glad I bought the Malibu. Put it this way if I would of tried the malibu before I got my Volkswagen I would of gotten the malibu over my Volkswagen. But glad I bought it for my son . I feel it’s safe again cheap for gas , great safety features great back up cameras and visibility with mirrors and back up camera features , cheap on gas , drives smooth even has a feature not sure If he mentioned it if u r not in the center of the lane or a little out of it which my son is a excellent driver doesn’t need it it alerts you . Definitely for the times we r in and the prices of cars being so high right now compare to pre pandemic I think if u need a new car I think it’s not a waste of time to go look and test drive it 💯 I hope that helps . Never liked American cars but I’m 💯 happy with this one .oh and I love the keys the features how u just press the button no need to put keys inside just press the button and also the trunk press a button on the keys and it opens by it self . We don’t do Ubers not even my son we have taken them many times but I think it’s a good car for people who even do Ubers Or Lyft that thought just popped up In my head I had to add that :) u did a great review on. This car by the way glad I found u I subscribed :) happy new year to u and family and everyone. ❤️

Been checking the Malibu out since a coworker has one and it came up on searches for what I was looking for. The Premier version has a 2.0 L turbo for 250 hp and an 8 speed trans which is not the CVT one. Still gets about 32 mpg on the highway. its classified as a mid size but looks more like a full size.

I hate how GM deleted the leather wheel and shifter from the LT models and the driver's side rear map pocket while raising prices to nearly 30K. It could also use another 20-30 HP to compete with Kia/Hyundai and Toyota/Honda's mid size offerings. Deleting the Premier with it's 2.0T was another big blunder!

If you want one, search for a 2022 Malibu Premier. You can get it for about 30K. All bells and whistles, 2 liter engine, 250HP, 9 speed automatic, panoramic sunroof, heated ventilated front, heated back seats, adaptive cruze control, self parking ...Best option for the $ ...

Thanks again Tom. Stellar review. I was looking forward to this one. This car is a mixed bag. The style and design is one of the best in this class and for price point. The car has enough torque to get you away from the light. But 160 HP seams a bit light. Is just me or do the side mirrors look like the ones on the Camero.

Hi Sam! As always, it is great to hear from you. You are correct in your assessment in all areas. Of course, I always want more HP but 160 did seem to do a decent job of getting the Malibu down the road. As for the side-view mirrors, you are correct. 😎

I own a 2016 that I bought new at the time. It's a nice car as far as ride, handling, and exterior styling goes, but the interior is loaded with cheap plastics and there is a lack of storage space. By now there are more modern alternatives, but if you can get a good buy on one of these it might be worth checking out.

Any car looks nice and rides good new . I have a cruze it is discontinued now. Have spent thousands of dollars on repairs. Water leaks coolant cracked water pump replacement. Trans lines replaced. Themostat stuck open .The list goes on. Google Malibu and see 4 yourself about engine troubles and problems. My next car will be corolla or civic.Chevy is using cheap parts and you will not get high trouble free mileage. Don't buy you will regret. Just ask Scotty Kilmer on youtube.

It's the torque numbers that are impressive.... 160 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque! It never needs to rev up past 3000 rpm even when accelerating on the highway, so you're not getting a tiny squealy engine that needs to rev up to 6000 rpm all the time. Love the RS trim, mines black metallic and I keep the red and black look inside as well. Spoiler, dual exhausts, blacked out front grill and badges. RS comes with 18 inch 245/45 wheels and I use 16 inch 205/65 dedicated winter tires. CVT is chattery at low speeds but gets impressive fuel economy. Fact: I can fit my gf's baritone sax in the trunk!

Doesn't need a V6, this engine has more than enough power for normal driving, and twice the fuel economy than a V6 would have, I know because I have a V6 and compared the two.

I recently purchased a 2023 Malibu RS & love it. This little power house does not disappoint - quick enough off the line for city driving and turbo is very responsive when a rapid boost of speed is required for passing in tight traffic on the highway. My brother recommended this model as all 4 of his family members drive them. His wife's has over 265K miles on it and not one major repair to date. I agree about having only one seat back pocket and not a very generous one. It breaks up the symmetry esthetics and a poor place for GM to save a few dollars. One thing I've found a bit difficult is the wide swing range with the front doors in the fully open position. I'm 6' tall and when seated behind the wheel it's a big stretch to reach the door to close it. While it's great to have a generous entry point, it does create a problem when closing those front doors. There is an overabundance of legroom for front seat passengers. This is the first vehicle I've owned where I've not had the seat set fully back! Plenty of headroom as well.
