On the inside you will be greeted by a full Nappa leather interior, 4G LTE WIFI, and heated third row. Under the hood is a 3.6L V6 mated to and 8-speed automatic transmission. Palisade offers best in class leg room, 2nd row ventilated seats, 3rd row power folding and heated seats, blind spot monitor, voice commands to control multiple functions in the Palisade, and many more features that most of the competion doesn’t have. If they do there’s a heftier price tag to pay. Hyundai also offers Americas best warranty, 3 year of complimentary maintenance, and 3 years free of bluelink. An app that you can use to remote start your Palisade, lock it, unlock it, turn on heated seats, check the fuel, etc. But people still find a way to complain and disqualify the Palisade because it doesn’t have power folding mirrors.

Let's be honest, Toyota and Honda don't have power folding mirrors. It shouldn't be a deal breaker, considering the technology and features Hyundai is offering and what the competition is lacking. Third row heated seats that reclines and have usb connectivity for my device? If that's not a mic drop on the competition, then I don't know what to tell ya!

Great video Joe & Lori! I believe the ratcheting armrests in the second-row are designed so that when you recline the seat backwards, your forearms will still be resting horizontal (parallel to the floor) ...otherwise it would feel awkward to have the armrests angle upwards along with the seat.

Thanks for the awesome review, Joe. I've been in the market for a new vehicle and the Palisade Calligraphy appears to check all the right boxes in what I am looking for in terms of tech and styling. I fully agree they should tuck the rear wiper and add dual exhaust. Your review has swayed me to check one out as they start shipping to dealers.

Always liked the Palisade, to me it’s the top pick of any mid size SUV. Many say they prefer the Telluride but to me there’s no question which I would chose. The front end is what I like best about the exterior, but the best is on the interior. The styling and detail in the interior is why I would buy this SUV in a New York minute.
@jond4328
@jond4328 Жыл бұрын
Couldn't agree more! The Palisade has its very own unique design while the Telluride has a design of a few vehicles. And hey Kia is doing big things in the design department, but at the end of the day its still a Hyundai. And if not for Hyundai the name Kia would of been an after thought like Saturn. So I just can't buy a second hand Hyundai. I was always taught to go straight to the source and leave the imitations alone..

Joe, I continue to be impressed with how Hyundai has evolved over the 30+ years they've been here in the USA. This Calligraphy Edition is the exclamation point on this beautiful Palisade. While I'm okay with the exhaust showing only on the right side, I also think it would have been more attractive to split it up. Anyway, thanks, again.

Joe.. I'm with you on the split-level front lighting. I think it looks cool, AND BMW is now doing it, but there's also some science at work here. Multiple levels of light have been proven to help with accident avoidance, especially when it comes to other drivers pulling out in front of 'other drivers, etc. Accident research, for motorcycle safety (called the HURT Report), found that when motorcycle riders install layers of light at various levels, both vertically and horizontally, it can assist oncoming drivers to better judge speed and distance, while brighter lights from a singular positioning causes confusion and blindness to other drivers. I'm noticing more car companies embracing this, at least stylistically- Jeep, BMW, Hyundai, and GM.

We shopped for a mid sized SUV and had to rule out the Palisade for two reasons: dealers still wanted over MSRP when car prices on general are backing off. The second reason is the Palisade earned a “poor” rating for rear passenger safety. That’s a deal breaker with two young kids. The vehicle does look nice.

You just crack me up. Love your reviews, all of them. For the Palisade, which I LOVE, the exhaust is fine, I really like the dark striped features on the doors and dash which you questioned. I feel the massage seating for the driver is unnecessary. I'm fine with the manual front sliding sunroof shade. Actually much quicker than my automatic! I just cracked up about kids picking their noses on the back of the front seats! Very much like the design of the seats. I chuckle when anyone reviews the third row seats! Of course, it is tight in an vehicle other than a Suburban! You put kids back there, not 6 ft adults! I think we tend to forget this. In the end, this is a exciting vehicle!

The Homelink button on the mirror does not work unless the car is on. I guess to make up for it, are the 2nd and 3rd row heated seats. The sound system is premium. I have a 2021 Palisade Limited, which I love. My big zonk is that the garage door opener is on the mirror and it’s unlit, so at night you’re jabbing at the mirror to open the garage and constantly knocking it out of alignment. I couldn’t tell where they’re located on the new digital mirror that you showed. Anyway, the lack of panoramic sunroof doesn’t bother me at all. I had one on my Audi and never opened it. Lots of people complain about the side mirrors not being power retractable, but when I had that feature I never used it either.

Regarding the exhaust pipes. The purpose of having twin pipes or even quad pipes is to make other drivers aware you are driving a high powered and unbeatable in a race level of power. I am a big believer of dump pipes under the car so the exhaust cannot be seen. It cleans up the lines of a beautifully designed car. Dual and quad exhaust pipes are really saying look at how much petrol I use because of my V8 or TwinTurbo V6.

I own a Santa Fe 2019 Ultimate and I love the features on the Palisades but one thing that they need to change is that sensor on the lower end of the bumper! When it’s a snowy day in the north east and that sensor is covered with snow the whole system shuts down!

Another very nice review Joe! I have been watching the Palisade since 2020, and have been very impressed! However, the missing option I have been waiting for is the power-folding side mirrors (so I can easily go into my narrow garage). So now I am waiting for the 2023 Grand Highlander which has the power-folding side mirrors, and should directly compete with the Palisade and Telluride for interior room. Plus the Highlander will also offer a hybrid version that delivers 35 mpg - very nice!

I agree on the massage seat. Not sure why Toyota hasn't picked up on that yet. However, the Highlander has a hybrid and Palisade does not (and per my contacts, no plans to do so). The Highlander also has a pano roof and power folding side mirrors and I'm surprised the Palisade does not. Finally, I do not like (at all) the aluminum finish center console. It just doesn't fit my eye at all. Regardless, I'd probably have gone with the Palisade if it had a hybrid... I love them both.

@@TheTruthCalls the biggest issue of Highlander is the extremely limited space on third row seats which are not even friendly to small children. Everything else about the Highlander is great, including Hybrid engine option.
@TheTruthCalls

@@LamNguyen-sr1sy I agree completely (well, I wish the hybrid had a better AWD system as well, but...). Fortunately, I will likely never need the 3rd row and plan to keep it folded down to make loading the golf clubs easy. :) I'm a fairly large guy so I've not personally tested any of the major mid-size SUV's third rows, but I understand none of them are what we would call spacious, albeit the Highlander does seem to have the smallest, with literally no leg room. Hopefully they'll fix that with the Grand Highlander.

I think one of the biggest mistakes Hyundai made on the 2023 update was to put a black grille in everything but the Calligraphy. Although I've been a Honda man since 1984, I decided to get a Palisade Limited. Got there and saw that black grille and just said "WHY!!!" That black grille is not for me. I think I'm going to order a Calligraphy, but the dealer mark-up's in this area, even on the Hyundai are really making me angry. If I have to pay $60,000 for a Hyundai, I guess I'll wait on the new Pilot due sometime next month (December 2022). It doesn't come close to having all the features on the Calligraphy, but I can't argue about the reliability. I have 4 Hondas, between 1998 and 2005. It's hard to go to another Make.

Awesome review, Joe!! Love the new refresh! Hyundai once again offering first in class technology and features! I think the features it's offering is great for a "refresh.".. I think a whole panoramic roof and hybrid options, probably will be implemented on the new redesign model. So, I'm holding off my zonk with that... I'm definitely curious to see how the new 2023 Honda Pilot will stack up with the competition. I've seen the new 2023 Honda CR-V. And to be honest, I wasn't impressed with it at all. It still lacks a panoramic roof, HUD, and Ventilated seats.

What you get with the Honda is long term reliability, durability, and excellent resale value. This Hyundai won't last anywhere near as long as the Honda, and it'll be worthless in 10 years time compared to the Honda. Pick what's important for you. For me, since I keep my vehicles to at least 200K plus miles it's obvious what's most important to me.

The best thing Hyundai and Kia have going for the Palisade and Telluride is the smooth naturally aspirated V-6. Good balance of power and fuel economy. Unfortunately, in the Sorento, they discontinued the V6. I own a 2018 Sorento and it's one of the smoothest and quietest rides I've ever had.

That may end up being my go-to. Also, re: trim on dash. I would say with three kids, the less coloring that would show fingerprints the better, so for me it'd be better to have the majority trim in the silver and the lines in the gloss black!

@@aj_sanjuan Unless Honda takes a major departure as far as interior designs go, you can take a pretty good guess which direction it'll go based on the Civic. It'll look nice, but Honda SUV interiors are mostly a mix of black/gray. They also offer beige, but I wouldn't call it attractive, but I'll keep my fingers crossed.
