Just bought mine today. Limited in Denim blue pearl with interior. I’m a fresh college grad (graduated in December) who was lucky enough to be employed right out of school. For me, the added safety features make it worth it.

Joe, I just bought my Kona Limited and the arm rests are not hard. The middle section of the doors are soft-touch and the arm rest itself is padded plastic. No, it's not luxury, but I'm not uncomfortable and it's definitely not a hard-touch surface. We have to give Hyundai some credit on this one, it's a major improvement over the previous generation and they've included a lot of luxury features for a bargain price, compared to many others in the space.

How do you like AC system? I live in the southwest where it gets very hot in the summers. I've.been driving a hybrid for the last 12 years so I'm used to having a nice electric compressor which works much better when at idle compared to a belt driven . The Kona limited has everything I'm looking for ..except no hybrid in the USA yet.

What a nicely equipped car. The build quality is amazing amongst the whole Hyundai lineup. Honda has so much to learn and catch up on (That’s right, I said Honda). Even the hard plastics on the Kona are nicer than the faux leather on the current Honda lineup. I wish I waited a little longer instead of getting a Honda Accord.

It's definitely nicer and larger than the older generation Kona. I just couldn't get past the cramped backseat to buy one, so I went Tucson. This newer version is like their little brother. Hyundai did a really nice job with this. Great review Joe! Always top notch!

I have the 2024 Hyundai Kona SEL with Convenience pack and my brother has the 2022 Tuscon SEL. The screens are better on the Kona for sure (and larger) but the Tucson has more cargo space. Thats literally the only benefit of the Tucson currently as the front and rear legroom is about the same as the new Kona. Tucson has 39ft cargo space and Kona has 25ft. 0-60 time, MPGs and everything else is very similar between the two and Kona does look like the little brother

sure hate the black plastic on the fenders. Ghastly. Nice headlights. hate fake plastic vents. 34k yikes. Can't imagine that white door staying clean for long. But the effect of all the light colors is very cheerful. Amazing improvements in the Hyundai/Kia evolution. They are really bringing competition against the Japanese. So nice to see a spare tire. There is a kind of volvo style to this very clean interior design.

Test drove the Limited on Monday, loved it, but I am holding out for the EV, and getting a home charger installed. can't wait! also, you're in Hunt Valley for the test drive. I recognize those horse ranches and the traffic circle. It's a nice area but it's all rich snobs that own the land down there in multi-million dollar homes. Is the Kona in the video, "Mirage Green" ? I love that color, its 3 different colors depending on the light, green, blue or grey

It’s worth pointing out again this vehicle has Hood Struts. This is the ONLY subcompact SUV to have them. Really adds a classy touch. It’s obvious by the details that Hyundai didn’t cheap out.

I live in Illinois where salt attacks fenders and I like plastic fenders where salt cannot penetrate and road acids corrode. Black plastic also adds visibility. Plastic door panels repell wet rainy conditions better than cloth or vinyl. Makes the vehicle lighter weight.

It's one of the entry-level vehicles, so I'm not surprised. Especially since this covers a mass amount of buyers without adding production costs. Hard plastic is easy to clean and easily protects the vehicle from road use.

I bought the same model in 2023. I did see the preview for this new 2024 at the NY Auto show on you tube. (Great job on that vid Joe!).The reason I didn't wait for the 24 was I thought the 23 has more character. I like the gas mileage better on my 23 model. (about 2-3 mpg's difference) I didn't want to pay another 2-3K more for an SUV in this class. Sure the tech has gotten better. Everything is relative. Im loving my 23 Hyundai Kona Limited AWD in Ecotronic Grey.

CX-5 is the same size as the Ioniq 5, my friend has an Ioniq 5 Limited which he traded his CX-5 Signature for.

@@brokeboy87 nah the CX-5 is actually pretty close in size to the 2024 Kona. The CX-5 has 29ft of cargo space and the Kona has 25ft. The CX-5 has about an extra inch of rear legroom. The Kona actually has more space with the rear seats down at 63.7ft versus 59ft. CX-5 is 8 inches longer and an inch wider. Id say they are competitors. The cx-30 is the same length as the Kona but an inch smaller in width with 20ft cargo. So the Kona is actually somewhere in between the CX-5 and CX-30 in a lot of aspects.

The purpose of this gen Kona is to transition to EV, which is why they started it out as an EV design first. They expect to sell more EV's than the ICE version. The price for the EV is rumored to be even more affordable as an entry EV Estimated to be around $43k and has even more features than the ICE version

The only benefit of the Tuscon over the Kona is increased cargo capacity at 39ft vs 25ft. Everything else is better or similar in the Kona currently. The Kona has 12.3in screens but the Tucson still has the 10.3in screens. I went with the Kona since I preferred to have the better interior tech and sacrifice cargo space

just bought a new one recently and very unhappy with it. Main thing is the speed limit system doesnt work well and is constantly beeping. It uses road signs which are infrequent.. and it misses them.. cant turn it off permanently either.. so get used to annoying beeping

I have the 2024 Kona SEL with convenience package and its a good car. I liked my trade in, a 2017 Honda civic coupe 1.5T better, but the Kona is good enough. Does your Kona audibly beep at you? Mine picks up on road signs very well along with accurate speed limit. I notice the speed indicator flashing red a lot but mine doesnt beep at me, and i dont even notice it usually because its behind the steering wheel

Kona has better controls for HVAC and media, using knobs and buttons rather than touch as on Tuscon and Sportage. How you interact with those is a big convenience factor imo.

The exterior is an acquired taste (front and rear light placement) but the interior is really attractive and rational. What gives me pause is the long history of Hyundai's engines catching fire...another 2.3 million cars need to be parked outside because of fire risk (as said below).

Its a faux speaker like the Ioniq 5 and 6 have. Its metal with a fabric cover. Its for your mobile device if your case has a magnet in it. (MagSafe is too weak)

when I test drove the Limited and floored it in the Target parking lot, it did groan and it took a while to get going. As other reviewers have pointed out, it takes a few upshifts for the ICE version to get moving. EV has instant torque so it moves when you hit the pedal Another con on the ICE version over the EV in this design. Which IMO Hyundai did the EV design first because they knew they would eventually focus on the EV only at some point, may as well make it a transition vehicle, which turned out to be their plan. The next Kona in a few years is changing to the Ioniq platform so it probably won't have an ICE version in the future.

How does this compare to the Honda CRV hybrid? 🤨🧐 any suggestions? I'm stuck between this, Kia Sportage Hybrid & Kia Niro Hybrid... 😣

The Honda CRV is more comparable to the Hyundai Tucson in terms of overall size and cargo capacity. The Honda HRV is the competitor to the Kona

@@suzetteharris I ended up getting the Honda Hybrid CRV Sport-L Touring model.... only thing it's missing is the ventilated front seats, panoramic roof, the auto-folding mirrors, & the blind-spot view monitoring (the actual cameras with the views, not just the red alerts on the mirrors).... but overall I'm happy with my purchase, it's great on gas & the pickup on the expressways (when merging on) is great! (Not THE best, but good overall)... I didn't end up getting the Hyundai or Kia bc of the high stolen-rates of the cars.... 🫣😕
