The Seltos gets some changes for 2024 from Kia. A new front fascia, grill and wheels are on the exterior. On the inside you get an all new 10.25in infotainment screen and digital gauge cluster. Under the hood is a 2.0L inline-4 mated to a CVT. Is the 2024 Kia Seltos S the BEST new SUV for $26k?

Purchased a white 2024 Kia Seltos FWD EX a week ago as a first car for my teenager. Intentionally got the base engine, because teenager. I do have to say that the base engine is plenty peppy for driving around town and general highway driving. Lots of safety features and technology. It's got a great warranty. I know Kia has a lot of haters and skeptics on reliability, and time will tell. But for the price, you can't beat the value proposition of this vehicle. The EX trim to me is the sweet spot.

Joe, props for continuing to review the base trims of economy vehicles like this Kia Seltos because that is what most people would buy. IMO, for such a small crossover, the beefed up turbo 4-banger with about 200 HP and 200 lb-ft of torque is pretty peppy on paper

Ppl, here in Europe, are skeptic about Kia vehicles... They are mostly driving Mercedes, Audi, BMW, VW... They are spending thousands and thousands of euros 💶 for those cars, but always talking $hit about Kia, Toyota, Volvo...For me, at least these past 10 years till today, Kia did a great job with new models and made the quality much more upscale. Just think about Stinger🤩 Awesome review like always and greetings from Sweden!!!

@@lordflashheart3706 Much better... But, however, ppl are still sceptic. In Europe, when u buy Kia, u get 5 years warranty, that's guaranteed. Uncle, who lives in Germany atm, has Kia Stinger and it's rival BMW M5, If that is Stinger's rival?! However, he prefers Stinger over BMW, + he tuned Stinger from 340 hp, to 450 HP. I swear, that car is fing sick.

Very nice base (Bang for the buck SUV) by Kia but I would have to get the Turbo version with the 6sp transmission over the CVT. Agree with you that the burned orange paint is very cool and has some pop when the sun hits it!

I just (Nov) leased a 2023 Kia Sorento X-Line SX Prestige and it has exceeded my expectations. I am very happy with this choice. It's the super black one and looks so sharp. I've gotten a few compliments. Not sure if the entry has it, but the digital dash has this cool option where it shows the display has a visual rep of the time of day (uses daylight, sunset, sunrise, and night) and weather... It's really neat. Kia and Hyundai offer so much bang for the buck.

I have the 2024 S model. It really goes fast, especially in sport mode. The only thing I hate is the sound system…it sounds terrible

Nice ride! It’s always interesting what carmakers include and what they don’t on base models. I’ve enjoyed my 2021 Kia Soul with the same engine. My Soul is an S model, and it has struts for the hood, a power seat, soft padding above the dash, but hard plastic on the doors and no grab handle above the driver. 🤷‍♂️

I'm actually quite surprised that for a base trim it comes with decent infotainment screens digital gauge cluster and good climate control O.O I bought 2023 Hyundai Elantra N-line ultimate last yr and I love my 1.6L turbocharged engine giving me 201HP. I got my bang for the buck for what I wanted but this Seltos for the price is a pretty awesome new car for a first time buyer for a teenager or a single person wanting something that isn't 2nd hand. At 6 feet tall and an older person, it's not easy to get in and out. Of course, I'm used to a taller Jeep vehicle, with an assist handle, to hold while adjusting the manual seat adjust. It's not ergonomic for a taller older person. No scan option for the radio, or radio controls on the steering wheel. Which tends to take your eyes off the road, on to the lower information dash. Only automatic lowering of driver window...only...no automatic up & down on both front door windows. It's a nice car, but it has it's issues.

I like the dull black on the wheel wells and I like the shiny black on the upper trims and yes I like either blacks on all SUV wheel wells. Get a head mounted Go Pro and give us a little POV action with vehicles with no sunroof 😊.

The base trim is actually the LX. It comes with an 8 inch touch screen and no navigation.

Look at the iihs Insurance Claims payout data for injury and such. Subaru for the win. KIA has an multi-port injection engine, which is a good thing in that it is self cleaning. The KIA engine reputation -- not so much. KIA looks sharp, and interiors are better in general than Subaru. Safety, is around the middle in class. Maybe OK for around town car? I don't pay side-stickers on cars. Just walk.

I don't care if it's a base trim of the cheapest model, like this, or even some $50k+ vehicles...in 2023 and now 2024, every light in a car should be led. They are cheap so production cost can't be the reason to not use them. Plus, we've gotten rid of all other incandescent bulbs for our homes and such. Why hasn't that been mandated for cars by now?

@kromahj - What are you talking about dude? Led lights are cheap, as I mentioned before. Having all lights on a vehicle is absolutely not asking for "too much", especially in 2023/24. Plus, if a car has the option of full led lighting over their base incandescent bulb lights, then that actually makes things more expensive for the automaker. They have to design, build, supply, and store two different types of lights.
