The 2024 Lexus TX is a three-row SUV that replaces the RX-L and offers three different powertrains, including a plug-in hybrid. Learn about the TX's range, charging, battery life, fuel economy, interior, comfort, and more.
There will be several versions of the TX available at launch, with a third option coming later. The entry-level TX350 comes powered by a 275-hp turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine; the TX500h F Sport Performance model uses a hybridized version of that 2.4-liter engine and produces a saucier 366 total hp; and coming later there is a TX550h+ plug-in hybrid that combines several electric motors with a 3.5-liter V-6 and delivers 406 hp.
Each of these TX variants is subdivided into narrower trim levels, with the TX350 available in base, Premium, and Luxury specifications, with each offered with front- or all-wheel-drive for an extra $1,600; the TX500h is only available with all-wheel-drive and in Premium and Luxury trims. TX550h+ with pricing coming soon on the PHEV.
We take all three trims for a test drive and tell you everything you need to know. Guest host, Karl Brauer, goes along for the ride.

You got my subscription because you covered stuff that other reviewers haven't. Thanks very much. My biggest regret is the lack of a 2nd row bench seat in either of the hybrids 😞😞😞 With 3 kids, it is sub-optimum to have to put one in the way-back. Come on Lexus (same complaint for the Grand Highlander in the Hybrid Max powertrain.)

Totally agree. Lack of a 2nd row bench seat in either of the TX hybrid trims is a deal breaker. What a huge mistake by Lexus. They made a similar mistake with the new GX by not offering a 3 row option in their Overtrail GX trim. These mistakes will cost them a lot of luxury SUV customers who have a larger family.

Lauren, you got the Genesis and BMW competition wrong. Even though the GV80 and the X5 are similar in pricing, they are not as spacious. The X7 is more comparable to the TX as well as the upcoming GV90. Jaguar's doesn't have a competitor to the TX. The New Acadia looks to be the closest in size to the TX for being called a midsized SUV. So yeah the TX has competitors in the midsized and the full size class.

Defender 110 as well. My wife drives one and we love it. I'm anxiously researching what 3 rows will be out in 25'. Lots of car for your $ with the TX for sure. The X7 though 🤤

@patriotparkinglotservices-8881 mmm the 110 is really a direct competitor to the lexus gx. The 130 could be tho since its third row is more usable, like the Grand Cherokee L.

Did you try opening the driver's door by actually pulling on the handle (not just touching)? Supposedly First Responders can get into the locked vehicle after a crash by just pulling on the handle, something I did not know was true.

Lack of a 2nd row bench seat in either of the TX hybrid trims is a deal breaker. Why are they removing the 7 seat option on the luxury trims of their "largest family SUV"??! I heard they deleted the 2nd row bench option on the TX to save weight because of the heavy hybrid system. If you have to remove seating from a large family SUV to save weight, you designed it wrong. What a huge mistake by Lexus. They made a similar mistake with the new GX by not offering a 3 row option in their Overtrail GX trim. Not offering sufficient seating options will cost Lexus a lot of luxury SUV customers in this segment who have a larger family. I wish this reviewer along with many others would actually notice and talk about this glaring seating problem with the new Lexus models.

Agree with you 100%. Lexus made the wrong trade-offs, given that the No 1 reason to even consider this car is to maximize seating capacity!

Love your videos Lauren! Just a note though, having the wiper underneath the rear top wing/spoiler creates more dripage from water after one washes their vehicle. SUV's are super notorious for having water drip down from the upper window spoilers, maybe that's why Toyota puts it at the bottom of the window? Just a thought from many years of SUV ownership and personal experience. Keep up the awesome videos!! 😉🤙🏼😋✌🏼

Inside looks super nice. I think the outside is attractive as a brick, especially the front end. I guess aerodynamics went on vacation. The 2.4Gas seems to be underpowered for such a large vehicle, so forget about towing. Fuel economy is really nothing exciting. No rear bumper means expensive damage with only the slightest rear end bump. Insurance will likely be $$$.

LOL @ Tablespoon of gas saved. I do not get the auto-start-stop craze, it seems to me the components will wear out faster and that’ll cost more than the gas saved. 🤷🏽‍♂️ I think Lexus will sell boatload of these things. Thanks for posting!

I like that this Lex is built un the US, but would prefer that this upscale super sized Highlander were built in Japan, th uaw employees have too little pride in their work and demand too much. And the US auto makers use are too cheap. I don't have any faith in American car builders. Even those who aren't unionized. But I like this Lexus, really a nice wagon. Awesome review, Lauren! Like that wide vid mirror.

Actually, it also competes with the Grand Highlander which is built on the same assembly line and seats EIGHT unlike the TX. So, the build quality would be about the same. With the Lexus having a better stereo system, possibly more soft touch surfaces and a bigger screen twelve in the Grand Highlander and fourteen in the TX.
@almassengale

The Lexus will also have better sound deadening and a better dealer network. Not sure its worth the extra money over the Highlander but you do get some nice things.

362hp Toyota GH Hybrid MAX 366hp Lexus TX-500h _fine print: "Ratings achieved using required premium unleaded gasoline w/ an octane rating of 91 or higher. If premium fuel is not used, performance will decrease. 366 net combined horsepower for TXh F SPORT Performance. 406 net combined horsepower for TX PHEV Luxury."_ You can use regular fuel in the TX, and it'll likely have around 362hp, similar to the GH. But I'm curious, if you put premium fuel in the GH, could it get a little power boost up to 366hp?
@zemo2332
@zemo2332 7 ай бұрын
I don’t think that you can use 87 octane fuel for gasoline TX. Maybe for hybrid. I am not sure about it.

I absolutely hate that most manufacturers are eliminating physical controls! Stop penny-pinching and charging more for your vehicles & not having physical controls for the HVAC & the radio! This just sucks so bad & is a complete Epic Fail! 🤬 Being distracted by menu diving and hunting and pressing a screen is highly dangerous for on-road use of a vehicle!! Wait and watch how many accidents happen because someone can't "muscle-memory" a HVAC control and gets in a horrible accident that could have been prevented by having physical controls in a vehicle. THEN maybe manufacturers will start to realize that eliminating all physical controls for screen pressing is a horrible idea! 🥺😬 Wouldn't surprise me one bit if car insurance companies start to charge a higher rate for vehicles with no physical controls in them now, because THEY are going to be responsible ultimately, when someone gets in an accident by being distracted by menu-diving and hunting for a simple function that buttons used to do for a few extra cents... 🙄😔
